Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

I was just over at SWREG making a purchase. I decided to double check the exchange rate between the USD and the EURO. They were about 10% high favoring the EURO. It is never a bad idea to keep track of daily exchange rates.

Came across this film about the development of the Victor Bomber. Vickers were also toying with the same wing planform for their V1000 which became the VC10. There is a comment about the difference between angle of incidence and angle of attack. however, it is not "incorrect" in as much as many aerodynamic texts of that era i.e. British English referred to both forms with the same name.

Was (at the 3 minute mark) and noticed during pushing back a Fokker on the terminal roof. Turns out its a retired KLM-Cityhopper Fokker that visitors at Amsterdam airport can view up close. What a great idea. RJ

I'm planning to purchase some very expensive hardware from a certain cockpit manufacturer based in Europe. It is now 1.31 AUD to the Euro. Is this going to keep up? I would appreciate if any economist here would like to shed some light on this subject matter. Thanks.

I was looking at CSPAN this morning, where there is a hearing going on in Washington discussing the merger between American and US Airways. I wonder if the livery colors will stay the same for American, or will there be any hope of changing their rediculous paint scheme.

Observing the age of the program and the leaps and bounds hardware has made during its lifetime, I'm wondering if there was a point where any further improvement in FSX was a bit superfluous. ie: Technology eclipsed the program. I'm going to unload some serious change on a new computer. How serious does it have to be to max FSX out? Jon

We are thinking about opening up our BLOG system to anyone that wants one. Currently, our only BLOGS are those by staff members, and they are pathetically inactive; including me. I think having a BLOG at AVSIM would be of interest to some. Our concern of course would be having BLOG owners who are initially very enthusiastic but then fade away over the horizon. How does everyone feel about opening blogs and would there be any interest to post own and read them?

Please, no candles and German Chocolate cake only! Seriously, there are many of you who have been with us from the very beginning and we appreciate your participation, contributions, and support over all these years. After decades of reviewing the video of the Destruction of the Death Star... And having been presented with the below video discussing many "suspicious" events and connections... I am nigh convinced the destruction of the Death Star was an inside job. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=218_1363518864

Again today we have introduced a small feature that I think most people will find useful. Now instead of hunting and pecking around, and having to print off a whole topic, now you can print a single message, without all the images and other material from the browser window. Look for the printer icon in the top right frame of the message:

So, I was browsing facebook and saw a post from Lufthansa about how their crew in Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, and Dusseldorf will be on strike from 5 AM until 12 PM March 21. Nearly every short-medium haul flight has been cancelled along with select long haul flights. Delays on flights that will be continued are expected to be delayed despite the fact that Lufthansa expects no delay. More information here: http://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/Travel-information?WT.mc_id=fbook0117_170113_Irreg%20MUC_Current%20Flight%20Information_EN&ed_f_inex=intern&ed_f_hash=iry4&ed_f_name=170113_Irreg%20MUC_Current%20Flight%20Information_EN&ed_f_dom…

Is there any series fan more consistently dedicated, tireless and creative than The Star Trek fan? Imagine the effort and time that must have gone into this! Your Fan-Made eye-candy for today. Actually, its not a "fair" contest though. The Cylons and Colonists still use nukes and lasers. The Federation has Shields, Phasers, Antimatter propulsion and Quantum Torpedos............ BOOM!!!!

We have introduced another new feature today entitled "@mentions". Example, if a user types into a topic the "at mentions"; @@Tom_Test, that will cause a notification to be placed in tom_test's notifications box, if he / she has configured @mentions to allow that. That way, upon signing in, a user has immediate access to those posts where he/she has been mentioned. You will now see a new function in the information to the left of every post; the @Mention link. By clicking on that link it automatically opens up a new message with @mention to the poster inserted for you.
