Finally, I can check one item off my personal Bucket List... I managed to deliver a 24 ton load of coal to Newcastle. Well, it was really crushed rock, but that doesn't sound nearly as poetic... :LMAO: The sim is European Truck Simulator 2, and I just wish that FSX's scenery looked half as good as ETS2's. :Tounge:

Hi all, I have been involved in VATSIM for a long time, have enjoyed the services, and also put in work when it comes to administrative tasks and general paperwork development task, never have I ever wondered how VATSIM/IVAO or any other online network actually functioned technically. Simply put, what we see have two sides, the input (FS, XP, Squawkbox, FSInn etc.,) ----> [bLACK BOX] ----> (Radar clients, servinfo, VATSPY etc.,). What I would like to know how from the point of input to the point of output, what goes on in the BLACK BOX? What kind of data messages have been received from the input end? Where do they get stored? How are they stored? What …

As of about 15 minutes ago, the Majestic web site and forum are still off line. So, we have opened an unofficial support forum for their new Dash 8 customers to use in the meantime. We will be moving all existing Dash 8 messages from the various forums to this forum. You can access the forum here; http://forum.avsim.net/forum/603-unofficial-majestic-software-support-forum/

First XP10 went 64 bit, and is progressing at the pace that a growing user community allows / asks it to. I do not use it any longer, but it's nice to see one of my preferred flightsims of 2012 finally showing it's potential, and it certainly has a lot of potential! DCS World is about to go 64 bit only - until 1.2.3 allowing for installations on both 32 and 64 bit OSs - and 1.2.4 will bring some interesting updates and a new helicopter, the mighty UH-1H, then other 3pd add-ons will come, as well as a revamped scenery engine. This is certainly Good News for a simulation platform that offers simply the most perfect and advanced flight and systems (military) models avail…

I just finished reading Fate Is The Hunter by Ernest Gann after having it recommended from another aviation enthusiast. It's a thoroughly enjoyable read from a very eloquent writer who had what can only be described as an utterly extraordinary flying career flying DC-2s, DC-3s, DC-4s, C-87s and Lodestars. It's even made me dig out my copy of the Uiver Team DC-2 to reinstall in FSX and try to recreate some of the flights. Now if only we had a really nice FSX native DC-4! I would recommend it to anyone here who hasn't already read it... especially those who live on a diet of flight management computers and LNAV/VNAV. Check it out, you won't regret it.

There was a wonderful thread started earlier on this subject, but when middle eastern resentments surfaced and it rightfully became a bone of contention, it was removed. It was so corrupted that there was really little option except to take it down. However, it would not be right for this community not to express its feelings and horror about this act of terror, no matter the origin or misguided aims of the murderers. I think that it would be wrong for any anti-US belligerent to make us take the subject off the table so here is a new thread for those who need to express their grief, sorrow, and condolences. Warning: Do not bring any anti-US or its allies agen…

When a member buys a really seriously powerful, beautiful and expensive Computer, is it Kosher for him to have a skite? Possibly we should make it a poll of members' opinions. I wanna start skiting, in the nicest possible way. It's quite a Beast. Sarcasm welcomed. In fact, an added thread called "If you show me yours, I'll show you mine". I know many of the boys in the assembly shop. I was quoted 5 to 10 working days. I picked it up within 2. Amazing effort on Umart's part. Jon

Back to aviation news: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-0420-faa-boeing-dreamliner-20130420,0,1108330.story Hope the 787 gets back in the air with no more teething issues. I also hope to have a chance to fly in one someday. I am sure it would be a great experience. Maybe it would replace the 767 as my favorite long haul aircraft. John

I have just updated my profile. Tomorrow, I pick my New Build, in the direction of up. This computer's primary purpose is to run the 3 flight simulators so I can evaluate all of them before I make my decision which of the new one's I fully support with add-ons and scenery's. This little exercise is already expensive so I want to get some advice regarding the hdd configuration and maybe save a bit of money along the way. My original intent was to run a completely dedicated WD Black 500Gig SATA Drive for each sim and controlled from the SSD. Is this the best configuration do you think? Also, Overclocking. I am very new to this. Expect me to be asking lots of questions. …

Yes, I'm quite serious. I think that most of commercial planes design is seriously dated, not much different than in 60's and 70's when was the evolution of tubeliners, for example. Look at Cessna, all planes looks like they were stuck in time-travel machine and suddenly appered in 21st century. Ok, there is few planes that I really how they look - Piaggio Avanti (most beautiful twin prop to date), I can handle C337 Skymaster design also, cause it is kind of unique, Boeing 757 - I don't really know why I like this skinny long tube with wings, bu I simply do... but still design errrrrrrrrr don't exist here. Boeing 787 tried some new "design moves" but nothing spectacular r…
