Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

    Trust there to be a camera at the right place, right time....but talk about an SUV at the wrong place, wrong time!! Luckily there were no injuries http://youtu.be/zWm2TAMwb3U

  2. Matt and team, Great job and most of all, thank you for the updates and the long nights they surly took, this simulation is headed in a fantastic direction. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to speak in the direction in which Flying Development Studio is headed in regards to In-App Purchases. Updates to the base game engine will no doubt be given free to the players who have purchased Infinite Flight, although I still have some lingering questions. 1. Do you plan on releasing ANY graphical updates as a IAP? For example, I have seen the impressive screenshots of the very early terrain populated with buildings. Would it be possible that these are, …

    Is anyone else having a heck of a time trying to get removed from the PC Aviator Mailing List? I've "removed" myself like 3 times in the last month and I keep getting spammed with offers and emails. I guess I will have to report it as spam because it's annoying as fecal matter.

    I know I will probably get a ton of different responses but what YOU think is the best antivirus software? I care only care about detecting viruses and malware, not suites which include all sorts of features and shields which just add like 20 services to a PC. Thanks guys! BTW, I'm currently using Avast! but it seems to have allowed at least 5 viruses without ever detecting the, in real time. Scan is up to 33% as I type this and it's detected 5 so far. 12. Hey I was wondering if anyone had a video of the old American Airlines safety message, used right before their current one. The only ones available on Youtube are pretty bad quality, filmed inside the plane. Thanks!

    While recently clearing up my old aviation magazines, I stumbled across this article published in 'Austrlaian Aviation' 12 years ago! How the times have changed, after claiming there was no market interest, Boeing has now built the stretch 747, a radical shift from its 'Sonic Cruiser' development plan which was itself shelved some years later to make way for the 787 Dreamliner and we all know how that turned out!! I have scanned the article below;

    Well maybe some of you don't, but I gotta say, it does present a challenge and I like challenges. It can be fun trying to make FSX work to my expectations -- I'm so warped I probably consider it part of the "entertainment" value -- I definitely get a sense of satisfaction when I tweak my FSX for a positive result. Didn't post this in the FSX forum cause I didn't want to have Jim come down on me But every day I find new ways to enjoy the depth of FSX -- even with all it's flaws, it truly is an amazing product -- no other entertainment software has made me work so hard ... and I love it! Happy simming all. Rob

    Was not sure if this would ever see the light of day. Sadly another preventable crash, apart from the fact that CRM was non existent, & they proceeded below MDA on a non precision approach, it also looks like they became yet another victim of somatogravic illusion. I lost a good friend on the A320 out here in the gulf because the captain applied full nose down sidestick whilst flying a missed approach in pitch black conditions, the F/O said nothing right up until impact. Makes me wonder how much emphasis is placed on this with some airlines training depts, it is something that cannot be demonstrated in the sim however it is an extremely dangerous illusion. …

    I was wondering around Facebook when I saw this image of a Concorde departing KJFK in the mid 1980s. Have a look at the control tower. It's the default FSX control tower! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=349131741862117&set=a.122549427853684.22111.122548417853785&type=1&theater

    The March edition of AOPA Pilot features an article observing the nearing 10 year anniversary of when then-Mayor Daley had crews bulldoze X's into the runway at Meigs Field. Those of us who track this hobby back to its earliest day remember all too well that by default, the original versions of MSFS started us off on that runway at Meigs Field. My first flights in FS were from Meigs to Champaign Williard Field in Champaign, IL, near where I attended USAF Meteorology School at nearby Chanute AFB at Rantoul, Illinois. Williard was the base of operation for subLogic and it's founders Bruce Artwick and Stu Moment. I had the pleasure of meeting both of them in Champaign i…

    Hi all Is anyone else having problems accessing the realenviromentextreme website I keep getting a forbidden and 403 error

  25. So I was riding cross country for about two hours last week with a local flight instructor who let me take the controls of an A36 a few times for a few minutes at a time, including a base leg and turn to final. It was the first time in over 20 years for me. He was impressed at my knowledge and flight management, especially with the avionics. Experiencing that real world feel again seems to have improved my sim technique as well. I spent the afternoon today immersed in FSX with the Carenado Skymaster 337 hopping from airport to airport and shooting a series of hand flown touch and go's at airports I have not been to before. I used the RXP530 that I have installed in t…
