  1. I remember a bomber on the japanese side and the 2 planes used by the japanese and Americans, can someone please identifying them, I would love to try those planes out in FSX if they exist.

So I was wondering... We measure altitude by measuring the static airpressure which decreases as altitude increases. Nowadays all aircraft are fitted with barometric altimeters. Now temperature also decreases as altitude increases so I suppose that it would be possible to measure altitude by looking at a thermometer, right? So what I was wondering is; has this ever been done? And if it has, why did the barometric altimeter 'win'?

That’s a bit too close for comfort…… Wow!!! EVA Air Boeing 747-45EM taking off from runway 36L at Amsterdam-Schiphol, Netherlands . The great timing and angle just makes this shot, and the size of the 747, looks surreal. The distance to the fence was 145 meters(475ft)... Yikes! I wonder if anyone computed the take-off distance prior to the trip? This is an amazing picture of a disaster that didn't happen. From the smallest airplane to the largest, weight & balance calculations are a critical part of flight safety. From the looks of this 747, the weight was within the CG envelope, but if they'd have added one more 'marshmallow' to each snack tray, this BIRD might not…

It seems that the Microsoft corporation is getting worse and worse in the aspects of quality. First off, I have had three or more Xbox 360s, because it seems that about every year or so, it becomes fault to the imfamous red ring of death. It is quite disappointing of the very low quality in the Xbox 360, because my original Xbox still works. Second off, Skype for android has a known issue for skype completely forgetting all of your user information, making you have to completely reset your password via your computer. This is especially frustrating, because I am on vacation in D.C. and I can't even Skype with my friends due to the inability to access a PC. Worse ye…

Anyone have any opinions of the KingAir 200 on which one is better? Flight 1 was clever in making theirs a little different with the Blackhawk engines and G1000. I think Carenado should offer an addon to upgrade the engines and avionics for a nominal fee.

I received some news I was expecting for a long time yesterday. When 9/11 happened, I felt spiritually connected to that tragedy. Like many "tragedy voyuers", I was riveted by the news and kept digging up more. My career in IT began in 1989. My first IT job, I met so many wonderful people who remain friends today. Just recently, I began working for my state government, and a new colleague turned out to be an old one--she worked with me in my very first IT job. Well, during lunch yesterday she told me that one of our supervisors and mentors of that job was in the twin towers and lost on 9/11. 9/11 wasn't a demonstration of religion. It was a demonstration of …

Curious as to how would one get a job working at the airport doing some outside stuff such as pushing back planes, being a marshaller, luggage, refueling, etc? How much is the pay? This is something I always wondered and considered doing since I love planes so much. And do you need any special degree of any sort to get a job like this at the airport.

Say you work for an airline, and you've got a 737, 757, 767 which are in need of repair, which one do you repair first? I'm thinking you repair the 757 due to its load capacity and the fact it is versatile and can fly similar routes as a 737/767

For all of us that will probably never be able to fly first class, have a look around Can't believe an airline would put all that into a plane! Seems a bit over the top, don't you think?

Last Saturday I travelled to a "fly-in" in Newry, Co. Down (Ireland) in the RHS with my "trusted" PPL friend. As an enthusiast and PPL trainee I have spent a lot of time in the cockpit of various general aircraft and fly as often as I possibly can. I have flown in numerous Countries in Europe, I simply love flying. However, Saturday was an eye opener for me. We set out from Cork (EICK), we had all the weather details, moving maps of showers etc etc and as I've said already an experienced man at the controls. What really surprised me (more than my experienced PIC) was how quickly the weather can conspire to make your day a challenging experience. Showers "grew" bef…
