I think it's up to me to wish myself a 'Happy Anniversary'!! It appears I joined AVSIM ten years ago today. I still use the forums at least once a day, more usually several times a day, and the file library a few times every week, so thanks to those who work hard to keep things up and running. Here's to the next ten years... ^_^ Martin

My friend works for united and sent me some pics of their new B737-800 aircraft 277 N37277 at PAE (Boeing Everett Factory) ….now fitted with the Split Scimitar Winglets….reported to save over 45, 000 gallons of jet fuel per aircraft per year. 2500 lbs. + payload increase… at a half million to each aircraft, service vehicles make me cringe lol

I'm trying to gauge opinion on whether or not to start a Kickstarter project. My project is to build a 777 home cockpit complete with a complete dual officer panel, seats, overhead, throttle and pedestal. The visuals will be a 180 screen with 3 HD projectors. This also involves a garage conversion to house the cockpit in. This will be located in London, UK. The total amount I hope to raise will be £50,000. There will be 3 rewards: £25 for 30 mins flight experience, £50 for 1 hour and £100 for 2 hours. Do you think this is worth pursuing?

Guys, I just want to give you some feedback and truth about Mark Grant and known as Mark1million. He runs JETVA and Thomson_Virtual. I was a pilot for EasyJet-Virtual, he slated us off and told us constantly we would be closed down and how he knew the solicitors for EasyJet and would report us, which he has subsequently done and the airline has now been closed down, he is also a moderator for PVPVMS website and blocked all of our responses to his constant threats about reporting us and how he knew the Solicitors of EasyJet Now in hind site some of us had been spun a yarn about the fact EasyJet-Virtual had been agreed by EasyJet to exists, this was wrong, but let me tell …

If you are on flight crew that is at an airport where you don't have a hub or a large presence for your airline say KLM in Tehran. Do you get your paperwork from a dispatcher in EHAM by fax or pc before flying back to your base. Do the airlines work out a deal with a local airline to do your paper work such as load sheets, flt plans and etc? Lastly what is the purpose of Boeings performance info on there EFB if you can get all this info from a dispatcher before the flight or some of the info through the Comms page during the flight? Disclaimer not a RW pilot!

I was talking to a American Airlines 777 pilot and he said all his charts were on his I-pad and he no longer carries paper approach poates. Where does he down load them from? Does AA supply buy and supply all the approach plates and the pilots download the needed charts? Also how does one know when a there is a change to a particular chart and his chart is now obsolete?

I was doing some AI flight plan creation and looking at flightaware. It lists two flights daily from PHKO to PHNL with Aloha Airlines as the carrier (737) http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AAH45/history/20130717/0922Z/PHKO/PHNL I thought they went under in 2008, and did not find an article about their reemergence. Does anyone know? Thanks

Sorry I missed the deadline for city submission. But I feel strongly about the city I wanted to submit- Dallas, Texas. Very few if any cities have TWO major flight hubs like Dallas. American at DFW and Southwest at DAL. Think of how convenient and less expensive for the attendees to fly non-stop into Dallas. Also, DALLAS is a convention city! Lots of hotels ,restaurants, and nightlife. Now here are the aviation related things I think would make FANCON 2014 one of the best- 1. www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com Excellent aviation museum with the world's only flying B-29! 2. www.crsmithmuseum.org/ This is a museum about the history of American Airlines with lots of exhibits…

Hello. I'm looking foward to download a free-ware 777 aircraft that has a fully functional virtual-cockpit/FMC. OpenSky project for what I remember doesn't have the entire VC working (all buttons and stuff), CaptainSim is very heavy for my machine as well as PMDG. Any suggestions? Regards.

http://www.seattlepi.com/business/boeing/boeing-photos/slideshow/Boeing-787-9-roll-out-66549.php Have to say this one looks much better than the -8 which looked a little short and stubby. Congratulations to Boeing on getting this out of the hangar and hopefully into the air soon. Regards, Ró.

Can someone tell me what are the duties of a Dispatcher please? I know they produce the flight plan with weather reports etc. but I regarded the job as 'sort after'? Is it an unskilled job because it seems that the info they provide is easy to do, or have I got it wrong?

Solar Impulse landed at JFK last week completing it's cross-country tour of the United States. It was open to the public over the weekend. Unfortunately I was walking in early for my ticket time just as the two pilots, Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard, were walking out. It would have been great to hear them speak about their adventure, but I suppose I'll have to try to see them again after they stop in New York during their around-the-world-flight in 2015. Here are a few iPhone photos. And a picture of a Dreamlifter on the ramp outside the hangar.

This last Saturday I visited the Mid Atlantic Air Museum with two retired U.S. Coast Guard Captains and a retired USCG Admiral. All were former H-52 pilots and all had commands of squadrons and eventually bases, or in the case of the Admiral, the 7th District. Anyway, I originally planned to go up there to photograph progress on the P-61 restoration and catch up with the other works in progress at the museum. The Coast Guard folk attended with me to look over the H-52 (a single engine Sikorsky helicopter similar to the U.S. Navy's twin engine SH-3). The reason they wanted a look-see was to assess the MAAM H-52 for a possible deal with MAAM to acquire the 52 for displa…
