I was just thinking about some of the airlines that I have flown on that are no longer around (due to bankruptcy or merger) as well as aircraft "types" I will probably never fly on again. I thought it would be interesting to see which ones you have been on as well... 1. Western Airlines 2. Pan AM 3. Republic Airlines 4. Braniff Airlines 5. Mexicana Airlines 6. Eastern Airlines 7. PSA 8. Hughes Airwest 9. Northwest/Northwest Orient 10. ATA 11. National 12. Continental 1. 707 2. 727 3. 737-200 4. DC8 5. DC9 6. DC10 7. Fairchild Commuter? 8. Saab Commuter

I read an announcement recently that Westjet will begin service to Dublin, Ireland in June 2014. The flight will use a 737-700 and will make a stop at St. John's, Newfoundland. I find this very interesting because this new transatlantic flight will use a similar routing model to that used back in the 1930s - 1960s by the old flying boats and propliners. Almost all flights to Europe back then made a stop in Newfoundland, usually at Gander airport, to refuel before proceeding on across the Atlantic. I'm not sure if the airline is making the stop at St. John's to refuel, or simply to pick up passengers. If they are using a B737-700ER then a refueling stop wouldn't…

I have now received about 10 of these calls. Gentlemen with heavy Indian accents who are very persistent, even brusque if you try to ask questions, and when you hang up they may even call back in an hour or so. To me, its comical, with flashes of impatience/annoyance thrown in as the clown on the other end talks utter nonsense, but finally, curious after religiously hanging up on these guys, I did a search on their obvious scam. I thought it might be informational for others and maybe even worth a laugh. Below is an excerpt from one of the articles I read. You can find the rest here: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/10/i-am-calling-you-from-windows-a-tech-suppo…

We are going to be revamping the current member's Reviews System. That requires removing the database and basically starting all over. Our apologies for those that have contributed reviews recently. We ask that when we do bring the reviews system back online that your recontribute your recent reviews. Thank you for your understanding in this. We want to have the best review system in the hobby, and the path to there requires this action.

I'm planning on doing a series of flight legs on Sundays from CYLT, Alert, (world's northernmost airport) to SAWH, Malvinas Argentinas International Airport, (southernmost international airport) in GA aircraft, a Cessna 172 for me. The 8000+ nm trip would take about three months covering 600-1000 nm, IFR, per weekend. The trip will be as realistic as possible, weather and ATC of course, but also stops at the right airports when re-fueling. I'd like to begin in April and finish by mid to late June, which would be the end of fall down south. It would be cool to have other simmers join me, both online on VATSIM, and via forums and e-mail for flight planning. For now, I'll na…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2528213/Take-drama-BA-jet-bound-London-hits-airport-building.html A good chunk of those BA744's are nearing retirement, including the one involved. Makes me wonder if it will be a right off? Moral of the story, turn crash detection off whilst taxiing!

Another statistic that I think everyone should be aware of is this one. In 2013, we blocked nearly 24,000 Spammers from registering. For everyone of those attempts, a bit of your AVSIM performance was given to them.

Hi, What's the point of telling people to register here at AVSIM if they/we are unable to get to the main page to login?. Every weekend its the same thing, looks like AVSIM will be my online forum during the week, but it's almost impossible to log in on the weekends. Guess I'll use Flightsim.com on the weekends.

I'm starting to miss some music and chill out beats while flying, especially on VFR flights. Ambient/chill out music is the best for flying, so relaxing while watching the landscape. If you know the music that PilotsEye is playing during cruise, the one with a trumpet, or few relaxing tunes with a piano, you know exactly for what I'm looking for. All recommendations are appreciated! Cheers!
