I have been using a few planes with IF and so far I am not able to fly a fully realistic final approach. I calculate a realistic vref as 1.3 x stall speed. I work out the stall speed by stalling the actual aircraft. I'm using the a340 atm and the vref with my current weight setting, which is below MLW, should be 154. However it won't descend with a slightly positive pitch up angle. I would have to have a slightly nose down pitch, which is not how the airliners fly perform their final approach. We are happy to say that we are back online again, and that we are back to full functionality. For the last week we had been battling what we thought were issues that finally culminated in a disk controller failure. If you have dealt with one of these, you know that you can get some pretty confusing indications as the controller goes through a "soft" failure. Hard failures are pretty obvious if you are sitting at a screen hundreds of miles away. You just don't have a operating system to view or manage. Soft failures are another beast entirely. I was wondering how often a pilot is able to fly a complete star into a major hub with out being taken off by ATC vectors and altitude changes. Often or rare to never? If ATC is going start you down at their convience is there much use putting in wind data and going to such pain to calulate an accurate TOD? Would not the 3 to 1 rule work fine for a rough estimate for TOD? Maybe I am using default ATC to much. Also would a pilot be assigned his star by center or after being handed to approach?

Does 800+ seem to be the threshold for the number of Avsim users online at one time before we start getting slow loads, System Unavailable errors, and blank screens? Could this be caused by significant number of users keeping the site loaded when they are away from their computers? All I know is when I see 800 or more users online I start to subconsciously hear that OOM bong we know from FSX. (note: said subconsciously). Its at that point also where I believe we start to see duplicate posts, as users may be getting a system unavailable page after attempting to post a message. I'm afraid I am officially addicted to FSX aircraft addons. I simply can't pass up on them. The more I try to resist a new addon (ie B1900D, L1011) and watch youtube videos and read feedback I try to convince myself that I don't need another addon but to no avail. I now understand how some women have so many shoes. Sometimes i buy a new plane, fly it a few times then only fly it maybe once a month. I spend so much time in the "select aircraft" section because I simply can't decide on which aircraft to fly. Should I get the CS L-1011? No. I don't need it but I know it'll end up in my hangar...hopefully not collecting too much dust.

I will be taking a very long flight overseas, it will be between 6-8 hours, and I was just wondering, if there were a way to avoid jet lag, and any other tips anyone might have?
