Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  2. Genuine Simulations is at it again. They have posted a "sales" notice regarding "their" A380. This is not just a scam, it is total fraud by a group of Iranians. If you purchase this product you are taken to a fraudulant PayPal page and if you are using Norton's Internet Security System, it will report back as being unsafe and not PayPal. The "Sale" is for 89.99 Euros which is reduced from 339.00 Euros and is explained by them; "Due to prevent pirate of our product we release the A380 Professional limited sales. For this reason the A380 Professional will release only within 48 Hour (ends 3PM friday 28 february) and after this date price will €339.99." Folks, please hit eve…

  3. Outside of CaptainSim what other Russian developers are around. I'm asking because as we all know with the Ukraine situation both sides are talking about sanctions if things don't temper down. I can't see things getting any more out of hand as major money is involved which is more of a deterrent than anything else.

My own worst airports I've visited.... Los Angeles, where you have to go in and out of security if you are connecting between many airlines. Burbank--it still looks like the airport I flew out of in the 60's, not much has changed, and International Falls, MN only because there's a sign there that says "Welcome to the Icebox of the Nation" and boy, is it true. My favorites I've seen--Sky Harbor Terminal 4 (my home airport), John Wayne (Santa Ana), Orlando, Schiphol & Frankfurt (for the hustle bustle), SFO (since you can circumnavigate the entire airport without going outdoors and people watch) and finally Jackson Hole and Vancouver for the views.... http://wa…

  7. Well, American Airlines have not thought this one through! Look out for the cartoons in newspapers and magazines - but on the serious side AA are leaving themselves open to Class Action Suites as Duty of Care under international carriage of passengers will be enforced! Wheel up landings are very uncomfortable as well! FT. WORTH, TX—Explaining that the costs of the service have grown too high in recent years, American Airlines announced Tuesday that it will no longer offer free cabin pressurization to passengers starting March 15. “Unfortunately, to stay competitive as a legacy carrier in today’s air travel market, it no longer makes economic sense for us to…

  8. Hi guys, FS2Crew needs some new voice actors ASAP for the new Majestic Dash 8 version: TWO FEMALES (GATE AGENT ROLE, very small part): One American (a Canadian will also suffice), and one German. TWO CAPTAINS: One American (or Canadian) and one German or Northern European. The UK accent has already been spoken for. For the Captains, you need to be a real-world airline pilot. Please contact via the Contact page on the FS2Crew website by submitting a TICKET http://www.fs2crew.com/cart/pages/Contact-Us.html Cheers, Alex

  10. We have brought online a new donation system. The issue for us that caused this change is that the old system did not recognize the member's support of AVSIM (other than to get a big thank you message upon completion of the donation payment). This new system gives the donor a little bit of public recognition for their contribution and support. Here are the details: All of the forum donation buttons now take the user to a Marketplace page with the donation alternatives displayed. There are 7 selections at the moment: $5.00 – Donor - 3 months $10.00 – Donor – 6 months $25.00 – Donor - 9 months $50.00 – Bronze – 1 year $125.00 – Silver – 1 ½ year $250.00 – Gold – 2 ye…

After the collapse of state owned airlines such as Swissair and JAL, there is no reason for extra funding to be pumped into airlines such as QANTAS. JAL had to commit to harsh conditions in order to get a second bailout. http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/richard-branson-sounds-warning-over-qantas-intervention/story-fnkgde2y-1226829107951 And QANTAS has said publicly they aren't after extra funding, only a level playing field, which is the ability for 100% foreign ownership. Branson says there is no problem with this. I saw a heap of VA 330s in YPPH when I visited around lunch time a few weeks ago. And seeing that International routes have been QA…

Okay, I know I am a bit stupid, but.... how on earth does the front undercarriage of Concorde fit in the space, and through the aperture in the fuselage? Obviously it does, but looking at the lowered gear on Concorde 002 at the Fleet Air Arm Museum I simply can't fathom it. What you can see in the pics is about 2/3rds of the total hight of the gear. Some parts you think might telescope cant due to pipes, cabling etc... there is an awful lot to fit in, what appears to be, a very small space [both vertically and horizontally]... and its even more baffling when you see it for real. I talked to someone else who was looking around, and at first I could tell they though…

Hi, This is just something I came across and thought I'd challenge my fellow virual pilots with. It's not related to aviation, but here we go :- What is special about the location on this otherwise unremarkable looking photo? The first person to guess correctly will win a virtual pint of Newcastle Brown Ale and any freeware add-on of their choice!

Hey folks, I'm flying tonight in a very short decision. I need your help! I want to get inside the cockpit. some background: I've been there before! my dad has 2 friend who flies 757. but the problem is I am not flying with their airline. I heard somewhere that you can write a note/ letter and ask the flight attendant to pass it to the captain. should I do it? what should I write in it? any fast help is appreciated! sorry for posting it here, but that's the greatest place in my opinion.

Hey Everyone, My girlfriend got me a flight experience for an Ikarus C42 for Christmas. I am really looking forward to it and i am wondering if any of you have experience flying the C42 or know anything about it? My information on smaller aircraft is minimal. Also, If any of you's have done flight experiences (I am sure there is a few) could you tell me what to expect? i.e. What my experience might contain? Thank you and Best Wishes Ryan
