Hi, Having been used by numerous airplanes, do they sound nearly the same? The thing is I got Aircraft Factory F4U and VS F8F Bearcat that depict PW R2800 sound, however I notice they sound quite differently. I wonder if this is due to "limitation" within the sim or using the same engine doesnt mean produce nearly similar sound? Were there some kinds of power adjustments in accordance with certain airplanes or they just simply put the engines no matter what the characteristic of the planes were. Hi All,For those of you who don't already know about it, about three weeks ago I opened a new site athttp://www.fs-fbo.comOver the past few weeks I've been mulling something new that I could do to branch out a bit, to provide some sort of new service to benefit all simmers, to foster expansion of the hobby, and facilitate communication and contact throughout the greater simming community. At the same time my kids have inadvertently introduced me to the world of social networking due to my oversight and their avid participation with their peers at Myspace.com, probably the most popular of the various social networking sites. And I thought, why not a "Myspace" for simmers?T…

so i am about to RMA my 2nd computer from newegg. same problem as the first computer, some sort of driver failure every time i watch a video or try to start a flight. i have trawled so many forums looking for a solution it's a wonder my eyes didn't fall out. 2 different brands of computer, different cards, different operating systems, different mobos. same error. i have to watch what i say because last time i tried to post this thread i got spanked for a common every day word (not a swear-word, a common every day word that the admin attributed a meaning to that wasn't there) that small children even use, and it was justified with sketchy amorphous logic, so you guys …

Among my various hobbies, is I like to learn languages, and I am going to school to be an electronic engineer, hopefully in aerospace, though that is undecided as of yet. I was wondering f being multilingual will help my career, and if there are full time jobs in aerospace that require you know more than your native language?

I would never have purchased the DC-10 by CLS for $37.99 or even half that but now at $8.00 it's tempting. I can't decide if I should get it. Probably will fly it once and then set it aside just like I did with the CLS 747 and the awful CLS A330.

Being an auto racer, I tend to follow those that design race cars (Adrian Newey, John Barnard, Ross Brawn, etc.) ... and this young guy David Algie (ok, semi-young, it's all relative): http://www.woodward-aerospace.com/lp1-aircraft-photos.html His work is amazing! 385 mph @ 14.5 gph! Wow, that's impressive. Anyone else know much about this guy's aircraft? Cheers, Rob.

Hi all, I decided to try flying on-line (VATSIM) yesterday for the first time in 5 years. .... Just GA VFR around Orbx NorCal, but I had some interaction with Oakland CTR and it was fun. I'm currently "mic-less" though and it's definitely not as immersive typing into sqawkbox, so going to have to pick up a new headset w/mic. Anyway, while flying I wanted to "view myself" on VATSIM but as I always fly full screen and didn't want to ruin the immersion by opening a VATSIM viewer on my desktop, I decided to try a VATSIM Viewing Android Map. Anyway I used VMM but to be honest, found it's map viewer very clunky, and hard to focus in on small areas of the g…

CNN Quote (CNN) -- A 35% increase in demand for air travel. A tripling of the region's airplane fleet. Up to nearly 13,000 new planes needed. Predictions for growth in the Asia Pacific aviation industry over the next two decades are impressive. But one question keeps recurring in the region and, indeed, around the globe. Will there be enough pilots to fly the new planes and enough technicians to maintain them? You can read the rest of the article here. So, if you are a parent of a 10 year old or so, get them into simulation now! And then have them sign up as AVSIM Members! Hobby dead? No way.

Hi and thanks for this great app. It's lots of fun. Because I use it on my mobile while sitting in a train it would be such a nice feature to save a flight - and not just pause it! Or when a call comes in on my galaxy s3 i'll have to fly again. That is not a good solution. Please solve it!

Anyone watching this docu on History Channel? I'm completely addicted to it, and pretty excited by their latest discovery on the island. All that Templar treasure story on Oak Island is fascinating, and it entered another dimension as they are finding more and more clues and evidence that the theory about the treasure is correct. Very interesting watch! Highly recommended!

As if I don't have enough computers: MythDora 12 (media center PC) E6300, 2 gig RAM, 2 TB, based on Fedora 12 (was a FS computer years ago) Acer AMD for my wife Lenovo W520 17" widescreen (almost a luggable, remember those), i7 920 for work i7 -920 for FSX / Quicken (or shoot me now) I ended up getting a lighter weight HP 4.5 pound laptop for travelling. It's interesting to see the route (and how fast it's taken) on it's trip with FedEx to northern New Jersey (times are local):

This gorgeous thing is Star-Trek meets Gerry Anderon's Thunderbirds. I'm in love with this design and if ever it can learn to cook; I'm going to marry her. I'm not convinced that it could fly... but it sure is beautifull! https://www.behance.net/gallery/AWWA-Sky-Whale-Concept-Plane/11891085

This is the discussion topic for the new Image Policies coming into effect later this week. We will be implementing shortly our new Image Posting Policies. We expect to bring these policies into effect by this Friday night EDT. Here are the new policies which are aimed to give you more flexibility in your creativity, relieve AVSIM of some server load, and will put more onus on copyright holders to protect their copyrights: When we turn on these new policies, we will no longer accept uploads of images to the AVSIM servers. User who wish to post images in the AVSIM forums will need to host them on systems like Drop Box, Google Drive, etc. and link to them in their for…

Sorry if this is a repost LETTER FROM AN AUSTRALIAN CATTLE STATION PILOT. Dear Bill, I'm writing to you because I need your help to get me flamin' pilot's licence back. You keep telling me you got all the right contacts. Well now's your chance to make something happen for me because, mate, I'm bloody desperate. But first, I'd better tell you what happened during my last flight review with the CASA Examiner. On the phone, Ron (that's the CASA feller), seemed a reasonable sort of a bloke. He politely reminded me of the need to do a flight review every two years. He even offered to drive out, have a look over my property and let me operate from my own strip. Naturally I ag…

I'm familar with FlightAware but I don't see any way to follow or track a single specific planes whereabouts? For example, mainly I'm curious to know where a single plane goes over a period of a whole week.

I'll keep this brief, as this may have been posted already. Tonight/this morning (depending on your time zone), an Ethiopian Airlines 767 from ADD to FCO squawked 7500, and after a long time in a holding pattern diverted to Geneva, where it is now parked. I would advise you to listen in to LSGG Tower on liveatc.net for updates, or check Airliners.net for more info. The story is still in progress, and Geneva Airport and airspace have all been closed, slated for re-opening at 0700Z... -Derek
