There appears to be some confusion as to what members can post when they announce a new product or talk about products in our forums. The AVSIM Terms of Service provides the following two rules: Commercial Users and Advertising: Commercial users are NOT allowed to advertise within the AVSIM forums or elsewhere within AVSIM without the prior approval of AVSIM Staff. Commercial users are allowed to post information regarding upcoming sales, bargains, etc., but ONLY in the BARGAIN HUNTER'S SHACK Forum or their own forum hosted by AVSIM. Deceptive Practices: Deceptive practices by a member are reason for suspension or banning. An example; what appears to be a no…

Hello, As far as I'm aware, normally you would contact GND for push and start, but when i recently flew out of ENGM i saw that the charts said: "REQ start-up, when fully ready within TOBT +-5 on DLV." So does this acctually mean that you should request startup from DLV, and does it also mean that you should request pushback from DLV, or only startup?

hi folks some might have read about it already as it was just recently featured on AirdailyX, but i thought i'm gonna put it in here as well as this might be a nice, unique (self-)gift for aviation geeks. Avationtag is a german company which creates tags out of the skin of retired aircrafts. Its literally going from Mojave Desert right into your pocket 20€ might be a bit much to ask for a simple piece of aircraft grade aluminium, but it comes with engraved registration number of the Aircraft it has been taken from, which makes it a nice, unusual and unique gift for us kerosene heads They are currently running a limited edition made out of parts of D-AB…

Hi, Looking at, for example, the charts for ILS 07 in ENML, there's two different CAT I approaches. One is called CAT I GA 4% and one CAT I GA 2,5%. So, from what I understand neither of these are CAT II or autoland capable, but why is there two different CAT I approaches and what's the difference between them other than that the minimas are different? And also, if you would want to fly the CAT I GA 4% does it have to be specifically activated like CAT II and CAT III has to be (what I mean is that CAT II/III is only operational during LVP, and I'm wondering if it's the same thing for CAT I GA 4%)?

Been a member since the early days of MSFS. was very intense on scenery making right up through FS4 then changes were made in how you make scenery and I just got burnt out. I have all of Fs versions right up to the last but my poor old computer finally screamed ENOUGH! update me! I just moved on. Crazy times in these and other sim sites. I am building a very fast computer this time around and am looking forward to at least visiting the forums and downloading some really nice content. Looks like Don Moser is really the only name I recognise at all. Times are a changin' Frank B^)

A little humor to start out 2017 with a groan. A Texas Cowboy went to Australia for vacation. While there in the outback and since he was a private pilot he decided to rent a small plane to see the outback from the air. So he was flying along and amazed at how great it was when a wing strut failed and he spun in from 500'. He awoke to find himself in a hospital bed in a full body cast and tubes going in and out everywhere. He saw a nurse and called out to her "Ma'am, did I come here to die?" She turned to him, smiled, and answered "No, you got here yesterdie." Happy New Year, I'll be in the building all day.

Am I selfish in saying the end of year sales for 2016 were very underwhelming?

Very sad news that Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia of Star Wars fame) passed away today as the result of a massive heart attack several days ago. RIP Princess. You and your Force will be missed.

Does anyone know if there's absolutely anywhere I can buy this plane for P3D? I have it for FSX and the Duke v2 for both but alas, before they unfortunately closed shop I never did buy a copy. Could it still be bought at some obscure out of the way place on the web? Thanks.

My question is; if you decide to divert, what do you need to tell ATC? I've orignally learnt that you should just tell them that you are diverting and if you want vectors or have a route. So if you have a route, should you just say the whole route with waypoints and airways, or is there another way? And will ATC assign you an altitude, or should you request and altitude you want to be flying to you're alternate airport?

What does the pilot acctually do in order to get his aircraft deiced (on stand deicing, not remote decing)? Does he contact the Handling, or just speak to the ground personnel? And when the deicing trucks acctually get to the Aircraft, do they communicate to each others via the Handeling frequency, the deicing frequency, or just via the interphone?

Hi, At some airports that have a specific Delivery frequency, I've heard it common to just request the IFR clearance to you destination. And in that case, ATC might sometimes answer with start-up approved, and as far as I'm aware that only means that they have opened the flightplane, and not actually that you can start the Engines? But at some smaller Airports with no DLV frequency, it seems common to just request start-up and the clearance in the same call - and as a respone to that ATC will give you the start-up clearance, but in this case does it mean that you can start the Engines since you started of by asking for start-up? If that is the case what is the diffe…

Hello all... it's been quite a long time since I've been on here and mingled with one of my favorite passions, but now I'm back and just about ready to take to the virtual skies again! After having gone years without my beloved flight simulator machine as I refocused my priorities on home and car ownership, developing personal and professional relationships, and all the while running around the Orlando airports photographing the local airplanes, I've saved up enough and just recently purchased myself a new high-end computer dedicated to flight simulation, and it will be landing at my door within a couple weeks! Since I originally registered on these forums, I have matured…

I've been trying to push myself a bit more in the simulation and have been flying around Alaska in the sim. I've found myself some not so awesome weather at PAJN and have been looking over the RWY 8 approaches. My question is based on the RNAV approach at PAJN (http://155.178.201.160/d-tpp/1613/01191RV8.PDF). 1. What is LNAV MDA vs LNAV MDA* on the bottom of the chart? The only other asterick I see on the chart is next to the tower frequency. 2. If I understand things correctly, I can descend down to 125' barometric if I see the runway lead in lights by MDA (2340' vs 1880' depending on what the asterisk)? Principally I'm trying sort out what I need to see c…

I ran across this RVR Monitor. I know it is "Runway Visual Range", but does anyone understand how to use it and it would be useful for flight simulation? http://rvr.fly.faa.gov/cgi-bin/rvr-status.pl

Usually when I fly into an airport I put my last waypoint into the flightplan and then let ATC decide what STAR i should fly and they give me the STAR clearance, since different STARs usually lead to different runways. But for example, in the UK, the same STAR can lead to the same runway. So, if you write the STAR you'll be flying already in your flightplan, do you still need a specific clearance upon arrival to fly it? And if so, what if you do not enter you're STAR, will they specificlly clear you on to a STAR then?

As if we haven't lost enough great musical performers this year, learned today of the death of George Micheal. He was a massive talent. Anyway, as was the case for all the other performers who passed this year, I did a cover version of one of his songs to bid him farewell. There must be a really great band up there in heaven now... Here's my (nowhere near as good, since I can't sing like him) version of one of George's great songs... https://soundcloud.com/lradbury/father-figure
