Hi I've begun to think about trying to improve my night lighting in the sim as I'm getting a bit fed up with the default lighting. I'm not planning to get ORBX Global as I'm weary about space so I've been considering Night Environment X. This is mainly for Europe so does anyone have any advice on whether to get this product or night depending on performance? I want to have reasonable frames (25-35fps) on my PC (specs are below) and I fly the Airbus a lot so does anyone think I should give the product a go? Any thoughts or advice is more than welcome! Thanks in advance!

Hi, I would like help in choosing suitable US west coast payware airports for flying the 737 NGX between, ideally the flights would be 60 to 90 minutes duration which is the max I can fly before OOM and VAS cease operations. I have all ORBX coverage of the west coast and PAJN Juneau, Alaska. I also have SimMarket KSEA and Aerosoft KSMF which is totally unusable as I OOM before leaving the gate. I have been using Flightaware.com to select realworld flights, plan them with PFPX and have a fondness for the Alaska Airlines B737-700, but have a liking for all US airlines. I want to add to the realism. Because of my non familiarity with the US geography relating…

I'm in my 40s, and for the last 20 years life hasn't allowed me much time for playing PC games. I'm almost unable to do some flying as work and family eats up most of my time, but things are changing and I'm about to make a few life changes that will set me back economically, but free up a lot of time. I really want to play some games, but have always been very picky and most stuff made after the mid 1990s have failed to interest me. I loved Civilizaition I & II, Railroad Tycoon, Pirates, Oil Imperium, Ports of Call, Dune 2, Sim City, X-Com, Second Front, Doom, Duke Nukem', Populous, Capitalism, and a few more. I like it simple - yet complicated, kinda like …

How would you like to wake up on Christmas, turn on your computer and discover the following companies have released the following secret projects: LVLD releases their updated Windows 10 compatible 737-300 with optional _400 and announces their 757 to be released before year end. PMDG releases upgraded NGX with schmitar winglets, ACARS, fixed window geometrics, and the MAX in 2017. Leonardo announces upgraded MD80, with optional MD90, and soon to be released Boeing 717. A2A announces their new DC-3 and soon to be released Martian 404. FSDT announces their KHOU and KDAL by years end. WAAAA! Why did you wake me up?

Just watched this with my daughter today, and suddenly realised - omg Pixar is using ORBX FTX Global in their cartoons! Dayum! *screenshot from YouTube* I mean just look at it, or go watching the cartoon, it looks exactly like FTX Global! It looks like the bird is photoshoped over the P3D/FSX screenshot!

  9. Hello, I'd like to open a thread where you can discuss nostalgic aspects of Microsoft Flight Simulator. For example, are there any particular memories (positive or negative) or features of a new version that have shaped your flightsim experience or "career" and that you want to share? I want to start with fall 2001, when FS2002 was released. I think that to this date, FS2002 has been the sim with the best improvement and biggest feature addition over the previous version. Do you remember the awful performance of FS2000? I can remember that the much improved performance of FS2002 was a big relief to the flightsim community and made flyers quickly appreciate the ne…

Hi all Not sure where these were installed from but I now have 2 small icons that permanently sit at the bottom right of my screen when running P3d. they also appear at the startup screen in the bottom right of the aircraft selection screen I'm not refering to the icons that are part of my task bar but are on the p3d program screen One looks like an old fashioned microphone and the other is a split circle ( possibly a pause icon) I'm not sure when they appeared as i've just done a windows 7 update. and added an oculus rift and fly insider. While they are small I don't want to see them in my sim. Sorry its a bit vague but does anyone have any idea what program mi…

Greetings folks, I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to the FS Kneeboard 2 application for iOS. The developer seems to have just abandoned his customers and dropped off. I really hope something bad hasn't happened to him. Anyone know why this good application suddenly just fell off?

Hi all, I've been doing some wondering and searching, but from what I could find, there is not really a compiled list of our (recreational/civil) "Study Level Sim" (SLS) addons. I can't imagine there will be too many out there that can be considered a SLS, so I'm just going to start naming ones I know of, and if anyone would like to share what else (modern platform independent) they consider as an SLS, please do so! I feel an SLS should be something that pilots can get hold of, use real world manuals to fly the addon and the addon will respond exactly as a real world aircraft/FFS would. So here's what I'm aware of: [X-Plane] Dreamfoil R22 Dreamfoil Bell 40…

  18. Recently I had taken a lot of time off from the flight sim community because my computer just wasn't performing to the point where it made simming anything other than a pain. I've got a new rig and what I believe are fairly decent specs, but what can I expect? Also, I haven't installed anything yet, as I'm torn between FSX and P3D--what will give me the best performance? I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to performance, so here's what I've got. (Also going to be picking up some sort of cooler in the next day or two.) Intel Core i7 6700k @ 4.0ghz EVGA Geforce GTX 960 Gigabyte GA-H170 Gaming 3 Motherboard 16g DDR4 RAM 750w PSU Windows 10 64bit 1TB Hard Drive…

  21. I am pleased to welcome the developer of Little Navmap, Little Navconnect, and Little Logbook to the AVSIM Freeware Forums!! Alex Barthel, the developer of these products, and Paul Watts, the official beta tester for the products will be moderating this forum. Little Navmap is a free open source flight planner, navigation tool, moving map, airport search and airport information system for Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D. Little Navconnect is a small free open source application that acts as an agent connecting Little Navmap with a flight simulator. This allows to use Little Navmap on Linux or Mac and saves the pain of setting up remote SimConnect links. Littl…

  24. I've been wondering what the hand signals that the pilots do to the ground crew actually mean. I saw a video where the first officer during the taxi into the stand, held his hand on the windshield and did thumbs up through the taxi, and when they set the brakes, the captain put his hand up, then closed it and after did a thumbs up? So I was wondering what all of that means to the ground crew?
