Thanks, Jim, for keeping things under control, & stopping forums before they become controversial. (EULA's etc) I know that sometimes, I've needed my hands slapped for stepping out of line with some comments of mine! I do appreciate the hard job you have keeping us all in line. Cheers, Robin

  3. Those who watch the flight sim world carefully will have noticed a growing trend in our world where products are concerned, namely the dispensing with any level of testing of products before they are released. I'm not going to debate whether this is good or bad for our community, just point out that is likely has become the norm for paying customers to perform work traditionally done by the developer, which means the customer are paying to become testers of the products themselves. As an experienced tester of flight sim products, I note today that a product was released that has so many discrepancies that it would have never been released by the developers I norma…

Hi guys, I use P3D v3.4 and XP11 with lot of addons ORBX, PMDG, Captain Sim, Aerosoft, Flight Factor, X-Aviation, FSUIPC, HiFi Active Sky 2016 etc I'm having a routine that is spending the week in a city for work and the weekend at home, so I bought a Razer Blade 2016 with GTX 1060 to be able to work, game etc Can I have any of this Sims with add-ons installed in both? For sure they will never run at the same time, it wouldn't make sense. What would you suggest?

  7. (No pun intended) A couple of questions for owners of study level aircraft like the PMDG NGX, Majestic Q400, Leonardo MD80, FSLabs Airbus etc... How many do you have installed? Which ones? Do you fly all of them regularly or prefer to conentrate on one for a while? How do you approach "learning" a new study level aircraft or getting back up to speed on one you haven't flown for a while? Which did you find easiest to master? Why? Which is your favourite and why?

I have several really good ones, I think. Trying not to focus on the end of the year so much... My favorite, so far, is Active Sky/ASCA 2016. I see it as having huge potential once the database of clouds grows. We may see less flattened clouds that look more natural. Envtex is a big plus. Favorite plane this year is the Aerosoft A320...yeah, very late to that party. (I dumped a lot of airplanes off of Prepar3d when I went 3.3) Favorite scenery...hmmm...gonna say Aerosoft Malaga. Beautiful to fly into, light on my system. Might have said Palermo if it wasn't so heavy.

  11. Do you need to obtain an oceanic clearance if you fly into, for example, EGPF (Glasgow) from Oslo (or somewhere else which makes you fly out over water)? I'm questioning this since a route between those to airports would lead to a relativly long flight just out over water, which I assume means there's no radar coverage(?) and therefore would it be necessary to obtain a oceanic clearance?

What's with all you sissy's talking about copy right law. Once the software is on my computer i will do what i want with it. What could go wrong, the big mean attorneys going to come sue me? It's like the old FBI warning on VHS tapes stating that it was illegal to copy them. What a joke! I'm posting from a bootleg copy of WinXP. I'm not worried about MS suing me! They would have to prove that I have hurt their company somehow. The fact is, as long as I'm not trying to make an income off copy right material no one is going to do jack &%$#! I once, a couple years ago, was able to convert a mdl file to dxf and import it into my bootleg Autocad 2007, just t…

Hi there guys, I've been noticing a lot of promotional material by a webstore called realflightshop.com and saw some good deals there. However, there is something about that webstore that makes me uncomfortable and I haven't used them yet. It looks a bit amateurish with tiny fonts and blurry images. The Chinese language icons at the top suggest that it caters more for the Chinese market. Even the English (UK) language icon is actually the Taiwanese flag! Has anyone used them? Do they offer decent support in terms of updates etc?

Hello pilots, I have been (re)discovering FSX after years and I can say I am totally hooked by now. The A2A Piper Cherokee is awesome. I'm not a RL pilot. I just passed the theory for ultralight flying this month because in France you need this license to become a professional UAV pilot (for cinematography for exemple.) I took a 7 days class where I learned many interesting things about flight mechanics, VFR flight rules for ultralights, navigation, weather, etc. I loved it. Didn't believe I could be able to seat 8hrs/day in a classroom and like it at my age. Our teacher brought us to an aerodrom to watch the gliders but the real excitement came when he let us ente…

Hi guys, do not know if this topic belongs here, but anyway, this is my experience after 2 years sim. As aircraft enthusiast i am happy in experiencing the life and skills of real pilots by means of this great medium called flight simulation. But i can see that a very big part of simmers is doing the utmost in getting the most realistic scenery, people share thousands of pictures that rather belong on a catwalk, its becoming a battle of getting the most realistic, most natural, most beautiful pictures of the ENVIRONMENT of an aircraft ! The hobby seems to be evaluating to a process of "distillating" the most realistic environment, pictures only available at real airports…

  19. Hello there guys, As a flightsimer since I was a kid, and now a pilot since 2008, I thought I could use this forum to ask: is PCAviator.com a real store? They claim they are online since 1990, but how so? On December 23rd I placed an order on their website (PCAviator.com, not the AU store) of a TrackIR with the ProClip bundle, selected UPS Ground (2-day shipping, according to their website on the checkout process) and happily waited for something that would never ship/arrive. Only on December 29th I received an email that my order was shipped (well, that's 6 days after the order was placed), they included a tracking number on that e-mail, however this tracking…

  20. It works great, smooth, very fast, but I cannot get the 3D to work, ling up properly, so I just use the same image for both sides and it puts me in the cockpit. Everything outside looks so small though unless I really zoom in, may have something to do with wide view aspect or something, will have to play with it. As cool as it is, I don't know if I can justify $1200 to get set up for OR. My iPhone 5S is small, so maybe a bigger phone would work, but that would be $650 or more, so I might just stick with this for a while.

I would like to give a big shoutout to Dimitri Ntistis for his extraordinary help in guiding me safely down to LGIO in what one would call nothing less than extraordinary conditions to fly in. My flight started of well at Skiathos, some clouds around but no biggy... once around 40 nm east of LGIO, I went in full IMC with major turbulance and major winds of up to 30-40 kts with lightning. As you might imagine, it wouldnt be a biggy if I haven't picked C-47 to fly in... which comes without auto pilot. So there I was, drifting though the wind like a plastic bag with Athens Radar being my eyes and only hope for survival. With my constant updrafts and downdrafts, and a bit of …

Hi, During some flights I've been told to report established on the ILS, and I do just that. But sometimes when ATC doesn't tell me to report established, is suppose I should'nt report established (quite simple i suppose) ? The reason why I'm asking this is because some controllers have asked me if I'm established on the ILS and they sound like they think I should've reported it to them even though they've never given me an explicit instruction to do so. So, overall, should you report established (on the ILS) to the APP controller, even though he's not told you to do so? Thanks.

My question is, I have mytraffic 6 installed, soon to get PF3, and have a mix of payware(most airports i land in) and freeware(my main concern with AI), now when the runways that are in use, will AI follow that for landing and takeoffs? From what i understand about PF3 its gonna do what i program in it, so it will give me the active runway, but what about the AI traffic? I like the idea of having to wait for takeoff and seeing traffic landing and taking off in front of me(wish it were a bit more realistic looking but ill take what i can get). Lastly, for PF3 or PFE owners will i hear ATC talking to AI as well? and will i be able to do transoceanic comms with ATC? …
