  3. This has got to be among the very last things it would ever occur to anyone to worry about on a flight..... (if it was actually the headphones and not the phone battery) Regardless, somebody, somewhere is probably about to be sued. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/exploding-headphones-on-flight-burn-womans-face_us_58c90d42e4b01c029d778241?cc5x4vq4xslhj8aor&

  4. Friends, I purchased the PACSIM KSLC scenery last weekend, and I'll have a formal product review (not suggesting it's an AVSIM Review, but rather a review from an experienced flight simmer) later this week. If you're considering purchasing this scenery, I would definitely hold off until the review is completed. My very best wishes!

  5. We require a volunteer to offer a managed Windows 10 server capacity on which to install a copy of Moodle and then to maintain it during a project development. The development project will create an aeronautics academy for flight simulator users to professional standards. No prior knowledge of Moodle is required and any required user training will be provided. If you are interested, please reply to me at speedbird747[at]ntlworld.com giving details of your offer. Many thanks in anticipation,

This was posted many times before but I want to hear some more stories. The mess up I had just 20 minutes ago gave me the idea to start a topic on hearing people's worst mess ups on vatsim. I had a bunch of great mess ups but this one probably tops all: The one I had just tonight was on a simple 15 minute ride from upper to lower Connecticut in the Milviz C310. But it was night time and I forgot to pull up any charts on my arrival airport. When I got near the arrival airport I was then told to enter a left downwind for the runway but I didn't see it because you have 2 other airports of the same size right near it (now thinking, I could have just gone on the righ…

Hi, I couldn't figure out where to post this, so this seems like a safe forum for this subject. My family has adopted the gift of Amazon gift cards for gifts. I have amassed a pretty good credit on Amazon, and I'd like to spend it on FS stuff before my wife starts spending it for me. I already have found Aerosoft and Just Flight. I have purchased what I need, but I still have a bit more to spend. I have searched for the usual suspects, but I feel like I may be missing something. Anyone have suggestions for reputable resellers of boxed add ons (Prime preferred)? I don't need any hardware. If I can't find anyone else, I fear that my credit will be eaten up by…

  8. An interesting link about homebuilt aviation in China. Makes me remember the first pilot I flew with, at 13 yo, who had himself built his first airplane with a 2 cycle engine, in a barn belonging to his father, who, when discovered the model, destroyed it :-/ https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/28149-homebuilt-aviation-china/

I wonder if a RW pilot could help me figure this out.. In an aircraft with IAS mode on the autopilot (airspeed hold by controlling pitch, ie no autothrottle), what are the conventions for the UP/DN rocker? Lets start with VS mode: UP is Nose Up, DN is Nose down. No dispute. In IAS mode, I would expect the same convention to hold: UP is Nose Up, DN is Nose down. However, some addon aircraft instead have: UP is Speed up, DN is Speed down, which is the opposite... confusing to the pilot I would think.. Anyone care to comment?

As the title suggests: Why does ATC sometimes report your on ground time, or your landing time, for example: "ABC123, taxi gate 1, on ground 35 (meaning for example, 15:35z)"? Thanks in advance!

Hello. A while back, there was some discussions regarding Rob A making a trip to Norway. Luckily for him, it was for a potential place to retire to, if I remember correctly. For me, it will only be just a 2 week trip. I will be travelling with my 8 year old daughter wonder if anyone can offer advice on places to see and things to do, especially anything in Norway that is child related would be great! We will be there the first couple weeks of July. We will start in OSL but I am not planning to stay there the entire 2 weeks, unless it's best to do so for some reason or another. I would like to hop on Norwegian from there and check out other destinations such as …

The text below was taken from an email I just received from JustFlight. A long time ago, I had signed up to get notified of the progress and release of this airliner, and hadn't heard or seen any new info on it until now: 787 Jetliner - Update Dear Just Flight customer We have sadly made the decision to stop any further development of our 787 Jetliner project. We are very sorry to have to bring you this news as we know that many of you have been looking forward to flying the 787, but we have been unable to achieve an acceptable balance between functionality and performance in FSX and Prepar3D. With that in mind, we have taken the reluct…

Hi, When ATC tells an aircraft: "ABC123, taxi holding point runway 01 (for example)" does that mean you can choose any of the available intersections for departure without notifying ATC, or do you need to go all the way down the runway? Thanks in advance!

  18. Consumer Alert MOD's I don't know where to post this so I choose P3D forum because that is what I use. Move it as you see fit. I know many of us build our own riggs but it is being reported widely (Drudge Report for one) on the internet that the FBI is in cahootz with the Geek Squads to spy on American Citizens. Please no political discussion. I am reporting this as a consumer and leave it to you to form your own opinions and search this info out. What is worse is that Geek Squad folks get $500.00 bounty if they turn you in and the FBI charges you. Very dangerous. Would not take long for a "Geek" to plant enough stuff on computers to pay for a nice vacation. For…

Just a little help, maybe someone knows a quick answer... I have Simplates X Ultra, and while everything is working, I am finding a bit cumbersome that each time I open a chart, the other one closes! I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, but it doesn't really matter if Acrobat or other viewer. It always does the same - I click on one chart, and I would like to keep it open while I click and open the 2nd chart in Simplates - in other words, the charts should remain open and not close itself! Is there a way to set that charts remain open in Acrobat as I click them in Simplates? Thanks

Got that from Orbx site and tried the website and says no longer trading. Shame if true since they could have produced UK in up to date quality scenery. That and Playsims Publishing gone from the scene hurts for that part of the world.

  23. Earlier this year, we announced the development of our new flight simulator, which generated an incredible amount of excitement in the community. We would like to thank you all for the tremendous amount of interest and support we have received so far. Based on your feedback, we have been focusing on three key areas: visuals, performance and experience, all of which are instrumental to the hobby. In order to further enhance these areas, we have made the decision to postpone the release of this project. In the meantime, we expect to have a detailed development update for you in the New Year. As a team, we are incredibly excited to share what we have been up to! Until th…

Hello My name is Andrew and I'm working for business jet company as a marketing specialist. And I need your advice as flight simulators users. I need to take a photo of our fleet (Hawker, Challenger, Legacy, Yak-42, Sukhoy SSJ100, Tu-204) all together while taxing but can't do it because of strict regulations in our base airport Vnukovo. Is it possible to vizualize this picture in Simulator with the best possible quality and take a screenshot at specific angle on the ground? Thank you
