...I had not been flying my FSX DX10, or my P3D.x for about 6 weeks. Have been mostly flying XP11 and AF2, with some FS9 thrown in. Today, I ran P3D.x, updated GSX to the latest, updated ASN also to the latest, and had a great flight. I enjoyed elements of P3D, that can't be had in XP10/11, or AF2. I enjoy elements of XP10/11 and AF2 that can't be seen in FSX/P3D/FS9 Bottom line, at least from my viewpoint, here-on-out, is that there is no 'King', or top of the heap flight-sim platform. They are all great. If you own them all, and fly them all, you know that yourself. XP.x, P3D.x, FSX.x and AF2 each have a unique footprint, and comparing one over th…

People who believe in chemtrails always point to contrails being different in appearance or lasting longer than they used to. It seems to me debunkers are really dropping the ball when it comes to the science. I have seen no one touch the fact of how ever increasing bypass ratios in airline engines are the real reason behind the perceived changes in contrails and how they tend to last longer or provide the nucleus of new clouds more often. Contrails really have changed since most of us old timers were kids; why don't we hear more about the real reason why? Donald

  4. So a new airline starts up. How do they decide lets say B1900D vs Q400 or old 732's vs 737ng, etc money? pax demand? would it make sense to use a 752? Thanks.

  5. Probably been discussed before but i'm intrigued. Lets say you have no experience in real world aviation, yet you have many many hours in flight simulator using the a2a, aerosoft, pmdg aircraft (the 'realistic' ones). And suppose you are on a jet liner coming back from holiday or a business meeting - you name it - and a very unlikely event of both pilots becoming unable to fly or help - Would you step in to help? If you were the only person on that flight that had any idea how planes operate, would you take on the responsibility of landing a jet liner with only flight simulation experience? So like the title says -- the question really is apart from the burden of gre…

  6. At the excellent suggestion of WebMaximus (Richard), I have created a new forum in the Hardware Forums entitled 'Virtual Reality Hardware and Games'. I think it is about time for discussions of this new technology and hardware and keeping it all in one place will allow our membership to see what's new and get more information. Please post your Virtual Reality topics in this forum. Here's a direct link to the new forum - http://www.avsim.com/forum/796-virtual-reality-hardware-and-games/ Thanks to Richard for the suggestion. Best regards, Jim

I'm having some strange problems with my installation of Chrome, I can't seem to view any inline images (e.g. http://www.avsim.com/topic/486221-dcs-normandy-ww2/#entry3398444) on Avsim and some other forums. All I get is a broken icon. If I open in Firefox, Safari or IE I have no problems. I've disabled all addons but still no joy, does anyone else have this issue or know what it could be?

Hellu all and thanks for showing intrest in this topic! I have experienced a problem with RJ100 in which the engines are not producing enough thrust during the climb and cruze itself. I follow everything in the checklists, due to my flight being up in the north I though it could have been icing . but no ice was detected and I had my engine + deicing set to ON. I have flown this aircraft a lot of times and this is the first time I encountered this issue. Tnx!

Not sure if this is where the post belongs..mods, please move if inappropriate. I've been using the Carenado T210/REP (XP10 and now beta 11 on both Win and Linux) for rw instrument procedures and scan currency. Love the flight dynamics. I also have P3Dv3, which I've been using for another aircraft. What/who determines the actual flight dynamics..the aircraft coder or the simulator coder? I'm considering getting the T210 for P3D because (and this could be my inexperience) it seems to handle multiple monitors of different resolutions easier, being drag and drop views. My question for the experts...Should I expect the flight dynamics to be the same/close using…

It feels "strange" around here, but at the same time someway peaceful, not having DCS or IL2 installed and jumping from bed in the weekend to rush doing some air combat... Instead, once a day, usually after dinner and not just as I arrive home and rush everything to go to the PC, I start FSX:SE calmly, then go to the laptop for the "delicate" sequence of AS16 + ASCA network initialization, then back to the flight desktop to watch the effects. I usually pick either Lisbon or some International airport with reported bad weather. For flying, and since I haven't yet gone through the FSLabs A320 manuals, and seldom recall the SOPs for that aircraft, I start it with en…

The developer makes "Advanced Flight Simulation Addons" such as - FireFighter X CropDuster X AITracker X CameraPosition X Where are my airports (WAMA)? He has a couple of freeware products too! These will be the official support forums for the products and they can be accessed at the following link here on AVSIM - http://www.avsim.com/forum/788-lorby-si-support-forum/. Hi all, Just updated ASN for FSX. From an flight KJFK to EHAM a found the actual ASN wind speed at FL 370 very low. (live mode) If you compare the speed with the PFPX info and the RTE DATA page on the PMDG 747 V3 http://imgur.com/a/zMPa5

Cut to the chase, today here at KLAS, I witnessed two Southwest 737's on 1R final with landing lights completely off. Please tell me a special procedure was at play here. I work less than a mile away between 1L and 1R, so I get to observe the steady stream of inbound flights right over my head, with today being especially busy as it seems all commercial flight were landing on 1R, with roughly one minute and twenty seconds separation. This was the first time two aircraft had landing lights completely disabled. No other aircraft were doing this and it was two SW 737's. Can someone shed some light?

  15. Hi guys, I am posting this topic to ask you if you could provide us (a small team of talented flightsimmers who started to create a Dubai World scenery. For sure, it will not be a high-end quality scenery but we want to improve the realism in the flightsimulator and to build up some hangars, warehouses or terminals in the flightsim. As there are not really much photos available from DWC for now, we need your help! If you were there or you have the possibility to get there to make some photos of the hangars from Emirates SkyCargo, the Terminal or the taxiways/stands, it would really nice to get them. Please let me know in order to give you a possibility to sh…

  16. I have several to reinstall now and experience with VR. I am leaning toward getting the A2A Comanche 250, need to reinstall their J3 Cub. The Cerasim UH-60 is awesome, need to reinstall the Bell 222. The PMDG 737 is a dream but new big iron costs mega bucks, so I just want to add maybe one plane and one heli to my hanger. Thank you.

Guess I’ve reached my saturation point in trying to mess with all this software to get it working properly. P3D v.3 is a nightmare – seems to work more poorly every time I boot it up. GSX and FS Dream Team are virtually unusable. All sorts of excuses with software representatives about what’s going on but the bottom line is that it just doesn’t work. I’ve got a top of the line Jetline system, plenty of power and I update all this software as recommended. I’m not a computer guy but I’m not stupid either and I’ve managed somehow to enjoy flight simulation since 1982 until now. PMDG’s stuff is great. Never a problem. Virtually everything else sucks. I’m not one to want to…

Hi there, ezdock version 1.18 is very choppy and not smooth in p3d 3.4. Choppy meaning it is lagging behind while the game itself is moving at 50 fps. ASN has no affect with it sand I've tried anti virus off. It only gets smooth at 60 fps and above, anything under it chops and lags. Should I upgrade to V2? Anybody know how to fix? Dillon L

Hey guys. Some of you may remember me and Amanda my daughter. We are back. Mandy will still be using my log in until she decides to get her own account. You may have been wondering why i just stop coming into the forums. Well here is why. Last year while i was on the road. My daughter and fiancee was at home during a home invasion. Amanda was hurt pretty bad, and spent a week in the hospital. My fiancee was not so lucky. She fought off the burglars as best she could trying to protect Amanda and our home. In he process she was shot 5 times. Katie died in route to the hospital. I was such an emotional wreck from loosing her, that i stopped playing FSX and even stopped going…

what does it refer to when pilot asks atc for taxi route to departure "..with "Charlie" ready to taxi IFR"? At first I thought it could be the taxiway the plane is at but that doesn't seem to match up in the sim.

Hello This sim needs - built in vatsim support - to banish VAS issues - to effectively utilise modern day CPUs - to effectively utilise GPUs - to be third party addon freindly - to have sloped runways - improved lighting engine - improved flight dynamics - improved ground dynamics Be the pioneers for online flying. Make it the centre piece of your platform. Find a way to expertly implement this and your sim will explode. When I show people videos on youtube where someone is flying a jetliner on vatsim talking to an air traffic controller, the reaction is always "thats cool". Yeah, its friggen awesome Appeal to the hardcore simmers first and…
