Early reports indicate the aircraft may have crashed into the Black Sea on departure. It was enroute to a Syrian base carrying the famous Russian Army Choir ensemble for a Christmas performance.

Working on a project and need some data from flight simmers on how they use their flight simulator. Would love it if some of you guys were to fill out this short survey. It's only 10 questions long and should only take about 5 minutes. You would be of huge assistance! Thank you! PS thank you if you've seen this on facebook and already responded

Just something that was rolling around in my head. During the lead-up to Flight School, DTG asked potential purchasers exactly what they wanted from a new sim. In aggregate, I felt that the majority of the replies (maybe it was just me) added up to pretty much "FSX but moreso" Now we have Xplane11, which pretty much covers the vast majority of user requests. So now I wonder a bit. In a world where P3D also exists, whats the usage argument for another iteration of ESP, and what can DTG do to create a product that's not an instant also-ran?

Now... What to spend it on? Shame there's no MD-11. I might get a few liveries for the freemium 757 (assuming some of them are current). The Tornado GR1 looks good (I used to weigh them at BAe Warton!). I may get Train Sim 2017. Not sure.. Ah, first world choices....

Hi all, I just reinstalled FSX after a couple of years down and I'm trying to reload all my old files. One that is missing is the excellent VC textures by Russ White for the Mooney Bravo (Carenado). For some reason I'm having trouble finding it and I'm nearly googled out. I usually get directed to Orbx freeware page but can't find it there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Can someone recommend some good general aviation books? I'm not looking at books with lots pictures of planes (although they are nice), I'm more looking at books that explain the concepts like lift, drag, how airplanes move, VFR rules, IFR rules and so on. Technical things like how a piston engine works, jet engine works and so on. The idea is to get a better understanding aviation in general. It's both to get better at understanding the systems and be a better sim pilot but also because out of interest.

1 survivor out of 5 crew so far http://atcmemes.com/boeing-727-crashes-takeoff-december-20-2016/ Another video....looks like they sustained serious damage on the runway overrun and circled around to return, but never made it.

Just curious to see how many of you guys are near me in Seattle? I recently moved from SoCal up North and had a good group of flight sim friends there. It would be cool to talk flightsim again with some locals, grab a beer, maybe even check out a sim. I'm 26 years old, employed by the FAA and I work at ZSE ARTCC in my day job. Sure I know a lot of controllers but it may be surprising to most here, that not all of them are that into flying or flight sim if you can believe that. Cheers all!

I was hoping someone can either educate me, or confirm that I didn't learn a few things incorrectly. I'm trying out new ATC programs and am on Pro-ATC/x. This developer does not let you "file" a SID/STAR with your FP and you get one assigned with your clearance delivery. So in essence, you filed flight plan starts and ends at a transition point with nothing else (i.e. DFW to MEM would be filed as FORCK..ELD). My understanding is that this is very prototypical for Europe. I don't fly there in the sim as frequently, but from what I have experience there is often only one valid SID for a given transition and runway. However, my understanding is that in the USA, a…

I tried to google this, but came up short. Might of just been typing it in wrong, but was hoping someone on here can explain the KSEA CAT III procedures a bit more to me. Ideally the chosen runway is always gonna be favored by the wind, as such if you are landing at KSEA on the rwy35's and these runways are all Cat I only approaches; what happens when you need a Cat III approach (which are only on rwy 16's) but the wind is favoring the rwy 35's? Hopefully i didnt make that too confusing sounding, just curious because if im coming into land, i dont want to land with a heavy tailwind, but i need the Cat III approach.

When I saw this tool I was happy to think that maybe we could sense the new VR tech with less resource, and not buy expensive gear. http://trinusvr.com/ Then tried Trinus VR with IOS device but no luck. I am stuck on several aspect like using the gyro of the iphone 7 and the conversion of the image in 3D. If any one have a solution let me know. Ciao

http://flightsimcentral.net/ezdok-v2-announcement/ Quote So it turns out EZCA is not dead! After the release of FSFXPackages’ ChasePlane, everyone thought EZDok was dead. Think again! As most of you know the current EZCA is not fully compatible with P3D and was a huge pain to set up. This however looks much different and will be a big competitor to ChasePlane! Take a look at the video and see for yourself! Marniftarr on the SimForums says: “Hi all ! After long time we will release V2 . This work was very difficult because need much time for study theme of vibrations and shakes. We studied during 2.5 years many processes happening in the atmosphere and…

If boeing has managed to sell 748 freighters why there are no a380 ones? One explanation I found is that the a380 is weighted out before it can be volumed out at typical cargo density. But why should that matter? If it is able to carry what it can carry at comparable or more efficiency/less expense than a 748f then it has potential to be an aircraft of choice. The additional volume then should be a bonus as it would allow larger volume cargo to be adjusted without weight penalty and premium. Another reason cited is the airbus's inability to adhere to delivery schedule. Is that the sole cause or are there other more obvious deal breaking issues? How is the payload carrying…

if you're into which platform is top dog, this may be of interest. http://flusinews.de/2016/12/akte-x-plane-die-google-trends-luegen-nicht/#more-38083 google trends indicate 'fsx' is still drawing 3x search of 'p3d' and interest in 'xplane' surging past 'p3d.' if you believe search count is a good proxy for actual user interest/user base, this is for you. now, payware buyer base is probably different--at least here on avsim, it seems the same users are the ones jumping on the newest and greatest every time and they now mostly orbit around the p3d brand. if/when x64 platforms become reality in 2017, would be interesting to see how the payware market shak…

I have been a member here for years but only recently did I realize what a great great place and resource it is. I remember it being down for some time, never knew many details, but I wish I had been here daily all along like I am now. There is always something new to read, and an answer for every question has already been posted and can easily be found, or if brand new, a question gets a fast reply.
