Hello I'm wondering what the difference between the minimum flap retratction altitude (MFRA) and Acceleration height/altitude is. So usually the MFRA is 1000ft (I know it may vary from Airlines), and most Airlines seems to have their acc height at 1000ft aswell, but what is the departure requires a acc height of 1500ft for example. Is the MFRA then 1500ft above ground or is it still 1000ft like usual?

Being a DC-9 as well as a Delta Airlines fan I was with in a breath of hitting the buy button when this aircraft was released just in time for Santa's sack but prudence said wait a couple of days and I bought the A2A Connie instead. It appears the 717 was a 60$ beta release with a plethora of bugs. If anyone has this I was wondering if it has been much improved in the last month. Watching there forum there still seems to be a great deal of issues. Thanks,Vic Green

Starting yesterday late afternoon, logging into AVSIM looks different in my PC. I see a popup mentioning I am being re-directed, it takes a while to finish, but even worst is when I try to read my private messages. I click the envelope icon and wait for ages... It never opens ... This is in EDGE with the latest win 10 version. BTW, it's the same with IE 11

Not sure if it was worth creating a poll for this. However, I suppose I had a fit of conscience tonight. As many of you may already know, there's been an avalanche in Italy yesterday which buried a hotel and many lives are feared lost. Tonight I began searching for nearby airports/ large airfields suitable for landing an IL-76 (the big STOL (relatively!) transport in my hangar) full of supplies - helicopter parts, rescue equipment etc. etc. LIAP may just work... Then I thought... This is a real disaster...many others have happened, and no doubt many more will. Some of them have been magnitudes bigger than one hotel. Why am I doing this: Planning a virtual fli…

Almost more interesting to me than the actual decision to release this on PC is the abrupt interest in flight from a number of directions, be it the renewed thrust from Xplane11, the erratic-seeming DTG efforts, Aerofly FS 2 swinging in from left field....... https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/01/26/danger-zone-ace-combat-7-jetting-to-pc-too/ Seems almost as if interest in Aviation might be heading into an upswing similar to what's happening with space sims. Perhaps even some here who might normally not be attracted by something so unashamed of its gaming focus might be tempted, if this supports VR.

Hi, During one of my recent flights online with ATC, the ATC asked me if I wanted to descend through uncontrolled airspace so that I didn't have to level of for a while. I accepted this offer and nothing was unordinary, but my question is: What is the difference in this case since I was still on his frequency? The benefits of descending through uncontrolled was that I could keep descending constantly, but what are the consequences (because I assume there is some, because otherwise I don't see why ATC asked me if I wanted to do it or not)? Also, please note, this was a flight in Europe and therefore I'm looking for an answer regarding ICAO standards. Thanks in …

So, there's a very pretty shiny new Alabeo C441 and a less eye candyish Flysimware C441, which looks to be a bit more accurate systems-wise but not as flashy in the looks department. Does anyone have both? Is my assessment of their relative merits correct?

And if you barely know what Elite is and wouldn't know what a Thargoid was if it bit ya' then this is a useless post. http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Thargoids For old timers and new Elite players and space simulation fans though, this is pretty exciting, especially after months of buildup with strange artifacts found on moons and strange happenings across the galaxy. The Thargoids are coming! (post dramatic gopher video here)

Hello all I have a brain teaser I was hoping someone might have the answer to. Does anybody know at present which aircraft is the oldest currently flying in commercial service for normal scheduled/charter use. This doesn't include aircraft which are flown because the aircraft is old, for example some preserved aircraft which fly experience flights. How about the same question but in Europe alone? I am imagining that it's probably a 737-300 - in fact it was looking at Jet2.com's fleet that made me think of the question.

HI, When you're cleared on to a STAR and cleared to descend (NOT a "Descend Via" clearance) are you cleared to descend to the cleared altitude without respecting the published STAR altitude restrictions? For example: If you are cleared to descend to 5000 feet, but the next restriction in the STAR is at 7000 feet, are you cleared to descend directly to 5000 feet or do you need to fly the restriction of 7000 feet and then descend to 5000 feet? And does it work the same way on a SID? I've recently had a look into this topic, but all I've seen is mixed answers. Some say that you should respect the restriction, and some say otherwise. Now, I do understand that this might…

Just got a popup. Object: C:\programfiles(x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe Threat: a variant of Win32/Packed.Thermida suspicious application Error while Cleaning Event occurred during an attempt to run the file by the application C:Windows\System32\rundll32.exe My option is to Delete or to Ignore, and if I delete it, then there goes Ezdok. I had booted up the computer and hadn't run FSX or done anything at all. Ezdok has been installed for years now, and no recent updates or changes to it. I recall seeing the same "Thermida" thing once or twice associated with a Flight1 wrapper, and it was a false alarm. What would my fellow flight simmers do with this? …

Wondering which of fsl and AS has a320 engine sounds closer to real counterpart. To my ears comparing in videos and actual travelling, the AS a320 engine sounds appear more realistic except for a little lack of thickness to them while fsl a320 engine sounds appear bit too thick and very up close. Any idea why fsl has sounds that way and do others find it more realistic?

How high will those heavies go for short distances, will they go all the way up to 360, or is there a low altitude height. Thx....................RobertC

The mysterious hijacker may have worked at Boeing, according to some "citizen scientists" who have examined impurities found on his necktie: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4121146/Did-D-B-Cooper-work-BOEING-New-analysis-hijacker-s-necktie-reveals-super-rare-particles-used-plane-manufacturer-thrilling-discovery-reopen-one-America-s-mystifying-cases.html Keep in mind that much of what's been speculated previously about D.B. Copper falls under the category now known as "fake news". FlightAware also has a few interesting comments from the aviation community on this topic: http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/7_days/popular_new/58654/DB_Cooper_may_ha…

Hello all, Perhaps there is another posting on this, I am not sure. I am thinking about going to Flightsimcon this year. I am in Ottawa Canada. Is there anyone here close by to me? Montrealers, upper New York Staters, included! I own a share in a Piper Cherokee and might be able to fly down to the event from Ottawa. I could take or pick up a passenger or two on the way. I would like to share the costs and make new flight sim friends. It's a two hour flight from here. Give me a shout! Dan

For any of you who are fans of Corporate or private Jets, stop by Manassas Airport, KHEF, in Manassas, Va tomorrow and take a look at row after row of the most expensive corporate and private jets that I have ever seen. They range from the little Honda Jet up through and including the latest Gulfstreams and at least one private 737 BBJ. I have lived near the airport for over 30 years and never before seen such an assemblage. DJ

If I'm a jet aircraft flying IFR, and I climb out from a class D airspace, then inevitably I will get into class A airspace, so, do I need a specific clearance for that, is it all taken care of with me inital IFR clearance on the ground? Because, as far as I know, if you're flying VFR you will need an explicit clearance when entering, for example, class B airspace.
