Hi, I was wondering how the 737 (or any other jet Aircraft with an FMC) enters a hold if you for example set up a hold at which a teardrop or parallel hold entry is required. Will the Aircraft automatically fly the teardrop/parallel entry by itself (basically, is it smart enough?) or do you manually have to fly headings, for example, and vector yourself in correctly?

  3. The film's just been released here in the UK. Reading the reviews, much of it relates to his encounters with the FAA, about whether he chose the best course of action. Is that true, or just a dramatic device to ramp up the tension? Eugene

Got the Queen and would like to find some great short (under 3 hours) routes. If you have a favorite route for your Boeing it might be just what I am looking for. I am hoping to find the route with complete info to input into the FMC.

  5. One of the worst things you can do on-board an aircraft is make a bomb threat. Even mentioning the word bomb could get you escorted of a plane. So what would make a flight attendant cry wolf, not once but twice? A need for attention perhaps? Justin Cox-Sever who is 23 years old is a Skywest flight attendant that faces accusations of creating bomb scares twice during 2015. One incident saw the accused allegedly stuffing a bag full of towels and then reporting that the bag was beeping. Computing power and resources make creating synthetic worlds with this level of detail relatively trivial. The only thing is that that might be far enough in the future that sims will be of spaceships rather than planes...........

Hello all, I have strange question. After a couple of years the flight with FSX / Prepar3D (32 bit aplication) i'm tired. I am tired of OOM, reinstall Windows, activate and deactivate cores, edit a lot of cfg and reinstall a lot of addons. I have maxim respect for all company who sale/create addons but i have a lot of respect for my money. I have addons worth + 1500 usd (I'm talking about Prepar3D v3). I want to sale all together. How ca i do and where ? Thank you

  8. How long time is "very soon?". It's been what.. 9 months now and no actual "lids" are opened to me atleast, only official threads, but you won't answer any real questions because the "lid" ain't open yet. Not moaning, i'm patient and i rather want to wait, then get the real deal flight simulator instead of hasting it, but just asking, i'm curious what you Dovetail guys think of "very soon", years? months? Maybe even weeks from now? Have a nice day  Best regards: Tor Jakobsen Ps: I bet i get the answer "very very soon".. haha.

  9. Every time I watch a VR video they are zoomed way out in the VC, is that for a wider field of view? I hope one can be at 100% if they desire to be, I want it to be like I am right there in the pilots seat, not sitting way back in the cargo so I can see all the way to the right or left. If I want to see to the side I will turn my head. Even in 2 D I hate to zoom back very far in the VC because when you turn your head or view point it is totally unrealistic and kills any immersion for me. Also, why the need for the binocular zoom for the instruments? Does that mean your are sitting back too far to read the instruments? If you are, and if …

When searching on a couple different FSX designing/customizing topics I noticed some old "announcements" of different "fireside Chat" with a couple interesting folks discussing subjects of interest. I was wondering if these "events" were recorded and archive and available? if so where and how to retrieve. Thanks Joel

Eric, who has been posting videos of planes landing & taking off at LAX, had his Instagram account shut down recently. A person complained on the Twitter account of LAX that Eric holds his phone while driving, supposedly assuming he is driving unsafely. Now his Instagram account is brought down. If any of you follow @airside_ops_lax on Instagram you would understand. All aviation-related accounts are saddened. He inspired many people about aviation. Now some person had to ruin it for all of us. Sadly there is no way around this. #bringbackairsideopslax

How does ATC know with aircraft is which and how is the callsign transmitted to ATC? Now, jet aircraft often have a Mode S transponder, so does that transmit the callsign directly from what callsign is entered in the FMC? And if that's the case then why is a squawk code required, because if I'm not wrong smaller aircraft without Mode S, transmits their callsign using the squawk assigned to them which makes sense, but how does it work for jet aircraft with Mode S?

  15. Hello again, I'm wondering when you need to request your intersection departure from ATC? Do you request it together with your taxi clearance for example "XXX123 request taxi to X2" instead of just "request taxi", or do you just normally request taxi and when you get handed over to tower, ask for an intersection takeoff? Thanks in advance.

  16. Is there any chance at all that we can stop adding features that can't work most of the time due to whatever reason? For example, FS2Crew...It is frustrating to push back in completely clear skies - No visible moisture/precip for miles and miles and miles - only to have the FO do his flap movement check!! This is regardless of what setting you have in the config panel. Mine is set to not do it, but he still does. So, I guess for this point, fix that setting so that it is honored and that will take care of this complaint. Another FS2Crew one still related to icing...Landing again in completely clear skies. No icing conditions on the whole descent. No moisture/…

Hi All I couldn't find a specific forum so I will use this. Question 1 Does anyone know, when editing a flight plan created in PFPX how to remove the (FAP) waypoint? This is the last waypoint before landing. I can delete any other waypoint except this one. The (FAP) waypoint is in the wrong position for the RNAV approach I am trying to create from an approach plate. Question 2 Has any developer thought about using Google Earth as the next generation scenery base for FSX. Instead of gigabytes of artificially created scenery It seems so obvious that this would be the best scenery base for flight simming. You just need to level areas where…

I have just watched a YouTube video of Matt Davies flying the PMDG 777 from EHAM Amsterdam Schiphol to KSFO San Francisco with VATSIM. Now, I am aware that many people use VATSIM because they want their flights to be as realistic as possible, but I noted several issues that I had never considered before. Matt was clearly using detailed payware versions of both airports, but it occurred to me that not everyone would be using the same addons (or any addons at all for that matter). The issues that I noted were...... * The Brussels Airlines Dash 8 at EHAM taxiing to the runway ahead of Matt's 777 was not following the taxiway centreline. In fact, it was not even on the vi…

Hey guys, my group for a CS class has decided to make an aviation app for pilots of varying levels to learn/ review various topics. Think Khan Academy or Duolinguo for pilots. Here is a brief survey that we'd like some answers to. As a longtime member of Avsim and flightsim enthusiast myself, I thought this would be a great place to get some answers. If you have time to answer at least some of the questions it would helpful. Thank you! What is your experience level with aviation? Do you have a license? Are you interested in getting one? Would you be interested in a learning app to help you with your rating, license or currency? What specific topics do …

  20. Hello, I've been wondering what the difference is between asking for start-up clearance and flightplan (FLP) clearance. Because in some phraseology examples they say "XXX123, stand 1, information A, (etc.), request start-up to XXX" and sometimes (and the way I've learnt to do it) they say "XXX123, stand 1, information A, (etc.), request clearance to XXX", but what's the difference more than that you get your Engine start clearance thogether with the FLP clearance? Is there any benefit of doing it one way or Another or is it just personal preferance? Thanks in advance.

Do you need to request a step climb or step descent when flying in controlled airspace, or can you climb at your own discretion if you've entered your climbs in your fligthplan? And if you need to request it, do you Always have to request it, or if you're for example flying oceanic can you at that Point climb/descent at your own discretion?

  24. I use P3D (v3.4) and this stick is working perfect. Except for one thing: if you press the 'Y' key for slew mode, the plain starts spinning around like crazy. It does so with all airplanes. The funny thing is that on startup, as long as you do not touch the stick, slew mode works ok. Once you have used the stick, slew mode goes bananas Any ideas ?

If you have a VR headset, cheapest one you can find, does not matter, and a cellphone with a good sized screen, and can download a free program to your computer, you can have an awesome VR, life sized, lag free experience for a measly $10 price of an IOS or Android cellphone app. YeeeeeeeeeHaaaaawwwwwwww!!!
