So I always love flying GA on Vatsim and just the other night there was an event in my home state with the airport of my first flight lesson staffed and I was so happy about this, I flew to and from all airports in a circle the entire 3 hours of the event. But I noticed all of the other GA aircraft were white CRJ 700s with the gear up, that was pretty annoying and I cannot seem to find a whole lot of full GA freeware packages. Any suggestions? On an unrelated but still important note: When I was flying my A2A C172 every takeoff and landing there was this horrific glitch where the airplane would turn left and right, pitch up and down and get thrown into all directions…

Does someone know of a good place to see the difference between the UT2/Live models vs the MT6 models? I'm not interested in the software itself but only the AI models since I do all my flying online on VATSIM. Up until now I've been using MT6 models but I've seen many people saying the UT2/Live models are generally of much higher quality.

Hi, The other day when I was watching a video on Youtube of someone showing a bit of the takeoff calculations for a 737 using an app on their iPad, i saw the speeds for V1, Vr, V2 and also VREF40 which was a value between Vr and V2 (I can't remember the exact figure). So I was wondering why you'd want to know the VREF40 for takeoff since i thought VREF only had an affect on landing.

Now you can play Pac Man on Google Maps. Bonus points if you can figure out which airport this is. Yes, this is, in fact, an airport.

It's not just AVSIM that gets hacked - http://www.techspot.com/news/68753-rogue-system-administrator-shuts-down-servers-deletes-core.html This is about the same modus operandi done during the AVSIM hack in May 2009. This guy will be a little easier to convict! Best regards, Jim

I think we are all guilty of sometimes forgetting what flight simulation is about, to the extent that it's prudent to occasionally step back from the constant tweaking and remember what it is we are trying to achieve; i.e. the simulation of flight, as opposed to the simulation of a pretty landscape. Yes it is nice to have both, but when the ability to perform a flight from A to B in our simulator isn't even possible due to a VAS crash, because we were more bothered about a pretty field below us than a realistic emulation of an aeroplane in flight, we would do well to remember what we are trying to simulate. So when our PMDG Boeing 737s or FSL A320s start dinging away…

Hi, I'm trying to fly the King Air C90 GTX. This is a turbofan aircraft. My question is valid for all turbofans, for this reason I am not posting in a certain forum for this aircraft. Also, my question a general question. I am wondering what are the differences (operational, not technical or mechanical) about the ITT vs. the EGT. As you may know, pisto aircrafts, like the Bonanza A36... use a method to know if the engine combustion is ok. Due the air is less dense as soon we ascend (that is we have less oxigen in it), things burn bad. You would burn better a match at 0 feet than in the acme of the Everest mountain (29,029 feet). So things high don't burn so well... bec…

I own 3 physical (DVD-ROM) versions of FSX: FSX (regular version), FSX Deluxe (disc #2 has a scratch thanks to Microsoft as it was there when I bought it 10 years ago but it only became a problem now), and I have the Acceleration Pack. I understand from research that the Deluxe Edition is the best version to install. I own FSX add-ons that date back 10 years too and still enjoy them. So I called Microsoft replacement disc department at 1-800-360-7561 and after taking my information (name, product name, where I live, etc.) they said that since they no longer manufacture FSX, they can no longer issue a disc replacement, and they said that Microsoft no longer holds…

I don't know if this has been posted before, but the song is quite amusing. NOTA BENE: for those who do not know, the "J e s u s N u t" is without question the single most critical part on any helicopter, as it holds the entire main rotor together. Without it, the blades would go flying off and the rest would crash to the ground! I had to space the actual name so the silly forum nanny software wouldn't censor it...

Hello Avsim Members! In this forum I am asking you about the TOGA when taking off. My question is (and there are more), What is it?? Is it the autothrottle?? Basically, I watch videos on flight simming, like Matt Davies, Q8Pilot and many others. Most of the time, when taking off, I hear a switch flicked at takeoff and I hear them say 'and TOGA'. ????? See the vid here: https://youtu.be/-V7CmyKmZs0?t=11m34s I hope the link opened up. OK So my questions are: What is it? What is it for? Where can I find it? When do I use it? And finally, Is it the autothrottle? Please also include pictures such as where can I find it, if it is not the autothrot…

Just an FYI, the Sun-N-Fun annual flyin starts next Tuesday, April 4 and runs through Sunday, April 9 at KLAL. If you have never been to a huge airshow full of antique, military, historic, commercial, and private aircraft, you should give this a try if you can. You can read all about it at SunNFun.org.

Hello, I've recently purchased the Aerosoft Airbus X packages. Everything works great apart from one thing, the brakes are VERY insensitive. I use a button and when I'm taxing and want to stop, it would take me about 25 seconds to stop if I was going 10 knots. Also this issue seems to only occur when I do a cold and dark set up. This is extremely annoying and I would love to know if they'res a fix for it! Thanks ;-)

I'd never gotten one of these before and I don't know if their allowed at AVSIM but after getting one this evening and doing a quick check, the website didn't seem kosher so I included an admin on a formal reply. Is this spam and if so, maybe the Admins could look into it?

Good day, I'm looking for AFM (airplane flight manual) of B737NG (specifically B737-700), in particular performance sections. This is not FCOM, which is easily found on the net. If anyone would like to swap, I have AFM for B744(various sub modifications), B772, B763, as well as many other up-to-date Boeing docs (FCOMs, FPPM, QRH, etc), except for much needed B737NG AFM :) Please PM me. Thank you George
