A few weeks back I posted in Hangar Chat about being rushed into hospital. So I figured I'd update you all on how I am, and tell you an amusing tale in the process... So, you may recall I initially thought I had 'man flu' and was putting up with being very ill, in an attempt 'not to be a pussy' about feeling ill. Eventually however, it got so bad that I staggered into the local hospital's casualty department, and within five mins of seeing a triage nurse, I was on a trolley with blood samples being taken and IV drips going in my arm and the very obvious indication that I would not be going home later that day lol. After a lot of tests, it was determined that I had a …

Hi should I buy or stick with xplane? Are only a handful GA airplanes included? At least it covers the whole world with airports and scenery? Has the FSX flickering been removed? At least it should run smoothly with my specs below? Intel® Core™ i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz × 8 GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2 16GB ram I was ready to buy this morning as it's cheap, but some comments made me ask back. Thanks

Most of you are probably aware that the performance of FSW is a bit disappointing. I've figured out that this is almost entirely due to the scenery. I'm getting pretty good frames if I max out everything but keep the scenery on minimum. Changing scenery from minimum to low almost halves the framerate. So I guess the only thing that needs to change is how scenery is rendered. As it stands, it's still using a single CPU core to do all the work. My GTX 670 is far from being used to its full potential. I don't know if changing this is even possible, as it might be quite "deep" in the engine, but I really think it should be a priority. Would love to he…

I am tired after a whole day of work, having rushed home as fast as I could in the middle of intense traffic, everything concurring to ruin my day... and my Historic Simmer day :-) Arriving home, stwitching on the PC and starting to read the first posts here at AVSIM from those who had just installed FSW or had read / seen vídeos / streams from other users didn't help much and I almost feared buying it, but I am now absolutely sure it was a Great Buy! I am very satisfied with pretty much everything I tried so far, with the performance even on my old i5 2500 @ 3,3GHz, 16 GB Ram and GT 960 4GB graphics card, and with the default aircraft which are all great i…

I don't yet know of an actual mechanism for submitting user test results to DTG, but here is my initial feedback. Hopefully, someone there will read it. The matter of expectations is a big consideration when it comes to "early access" software. Certainly, no one should expect an EA game to be judged by the same standard as a "gold" release candidate. But it should also be noted that this isn't an EA product in the same way that, say, a brand-new game from a small startup team that had just downloaded Unity a few months ago might be. In this case, FSW is bootstrapping from a decade-old product and code-base; one that desperately needed modernization, true, but not…

Congrats Dovetail on the release of FSW and getting a 64 bit version of FSX out that I hope you guys and add on developers can come to an agreement so we can get some sweet add ons. First Issue that I have came across is the old FSX Mouse Cursor FPS bug. Anytime the mouse cursor is displayed while flying in the virtual cockpit FPS takes a 10 fps hit (for me at least), Once the mouse cursor goes away the FPS jumps back up. Lockheed Martin was able to fix this in Prepar3D. For testing I would sit at a well populated airport, use CTRL-Z to show your FPS. While in the Virtual Cockpit take note of your FPS when the mouse cursor is Shown, Now wait a few seconds fo…

Tested out FSW today by flying the included super cub low and slow, starting at a couple different airports. Was able to max out all the sliders and maintain good fps, except I had all traffic off, so I'm not sure of traffic's impact on performance. I think the ground scenery is a noticeable improvement over stock fsx. For example, the golf course textures are a lot sharper; trees and buildings seem better too. Road networks still need a bit of work, as far as their look. In Las Vegas, was pleased to see custom scenery representing all the casinos on the strip. Night lighting is much better than fsx (but still short of XP11). The cockpit experience was pretty g…

...but a 40 gig download (all in one chunk, isn't tempting me a lot) 30 USD doesn't seem much for a 40 gig program..seems a little "chancy" as far as results expected from a flight sim, even if it is early access. (I've participated a lot in early access programs, so I know what they are like) all they advertise is "free flight and multiplayer: in the whole world. Anyone have any idea about whats expected, compared to P3D. (other than the early access part)?

It was very disappointing to say the least. I know they worked hard on this, but I think truly they should get out as quickly as possible. I felt like I went back in time about 10 years. I am very sorry to have to say this I really am as I believe there was an honest effort by all involved. Just removed from Steam.

I'm getting ready to hit the Buy button for the first 64 bit derivate of the Good Old MSFS !!! Steam platform is installed, no games actually installed ( I have there MS FLIGHT and two DLCs for it, FSX:SE, IL2 CloD and Aerofly FS 1 and 2 ) - eagerly awaiting DTG FSW ! Then, after installing ( and making sure I make a system image, just in case and given the latest events on the Cyber World... ), Fine tuning to make it run properly on my i5 2500 + GTX 960 4 GB in Win 10 Pro 64, with 16 GB DDR3 RAM is probably going to be my first experience, followed by proper controller assignements... Then I'll start the usual circuits around LPPT, with increasing lev…

Hi Aimee and Cryss, I'm wondering what kind of hardware support you will have. Currently, I have an X-52 Pro (which I assume will be compatible out the gate) as well as a couple Saitek panels (multi-switch and instrument panels to be precise). Will you have support for these products? How about the other devices other simmers may have (CH products, yokes, rudders, etc)? Thanks in advance!

Steam should abandon the whole early access idea so that developers can't use it as an excuse to release alpha software and so that users understand that what they get will maybe change in detail but not in its core. Everyone here who says 'Yes, but it is still early access' doesn't seem to understand that during the coming months the core engine won't change and the basics of FSX are here to stay in this sim. This is not a new sim and it can't and won't become one. And honestly, calling this sim early access while they already have been working on FSX:SE for a few years and while FSX is 11 years old already? If Steam really wants to keep on using the early access op…

Not directly flightsim related, but I bet a lot of people on this forum were once model rocketeers. For those of us, this is very very cool, and answers a question we probably didn't even know we had..... What does it look like inside when the motor is running?

If more Heads Of States become covert airline pilots... https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/17/world/europe/king-willem-alexander-pilot.html?_r=0 " Ladies and Gentlemen please take your seats and fasten those belts! One of the smartly dressed young ladies in the folding jump seats is saying there’s no way I can break the blue wall. Right? I won’t break it. We, all of us together, are going to shattered that sucker, bigly ! "

In the past ( fs9, and initial transition to fsx ) I even had Heathrow and Lukla airports from Aerosoft, but then and for more than 10 yrs, and apart from ORBX FTX Global, Madeira ( LPMA ) has been my only scenery add-on for FSX or P3d... Well, I really would like to see, after the stabilization of the wonderful ( I feel this is what it is going to be... ) FSW platform, Aerosoft aircraft addons I own in my account, and LPMA, which I recently updated to use with the FSLabs A320, available for FSW, because I don't believe the default airport will look much better than how it does in FSX:SE ( ? ). Then, the Aerosoft Airbuses - I am really fond of these, and honestl…

Just this :) Well, also another question, since it has been mentioned by others at the forum... Is the GTX970 the minimum spec graphics board or the recommended for "full right sliders" settings ?
