Ice Pilots is now on Netflix which features Buffalo Airways, a freight/pax service in the NWT. The hook is that they fly antiquated aircraft such as the C46, DC4 and DC3 in pretty harsh conditions. When you look at the number of accidents they've had (none fatal, fortunately) it makes you wonder why they would continue to jeopardize their crew and business with such a fleet.

After looking at some neat old DOS sims over on a social media site, I thought: "What sim/software really got me hooked into flight simulation?" For me it was playing Microprose's F19 Stealth Fighter. I believe it was released in 88.... which would put me around 5-6 years old hehe After that I played various DOS sims, and eventually ran into MSFS 5.0 at a neighbor's house (first for dos, then later the Win95 FS95 version!) FS98 - was the sim where I really started learning how to fly and navigate! F19 Stealth Fighter

Anyone tried running FSc on a 6 or 8 core CPU? I'd be really keen to see how well it takes advantage of all those cores.

Couldn't find a JF forum, so will try here. I installed the JF Electra 10A in September 2015. Recently received an email from a FSim outlet promoting a new JF Electra 10A, in stock 10/18/16. I looked at it & it looks pretty much the same as the 9/15 version I am using. Liveries seem the same. Anyone know if there is something new or different in this release or whether it is re-marketing of the 2015 version? JF itself does not seem to be advertising it as "new" Thanks

Hi everyone, I need to interview and profile someone for my college writing class and I would like to interview an airline pilot. Could anyone give me some insight or point me in the right direction on how I could get into contact with an airline pilot? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I wonder about the real life procedure when it comes to receiving the STAR. I use ProATC and recently the procedures have changed. At a certain moment, quite a while before the actual approach, ATC tells you which STAR you have to use. It doesn't tell you the runway and transition. When does a real pilot receive the STAR info? And what does he do with it? I fly the Airbus and can't add the STAR to the plan without knowing the runway. So should I (and does a real pilot) look up the STAR using charts and find out which runway it belongs too? ProATC tells you the runway and transition (without repeating the STAR) when you have to contact approach, which often is too late to …

Can you guys tell me where I can find the value to put into the FMS for "RESERVES" section on the PMDG 737/777 by looking at my OFP created with PFPX? Release is the amount I enter in when I load fuel into my plane, that I understand, but where on the OFP does it say the value for reserve fuel? This is my flight plan http://pastebin.com/pzeDkTg4

This may be a dumb question but I couldn't find the info in the manual. When programming the FMS, the radio screen is set to "FMS auto" for both NAV1 and NAV2 unless I manually put in a frequency. 1) What specifically does FMS auto mean? Even if I plug in a frequency manually, when I use VNAV/LNAV it still runs off of the FMS. Does it just mean it's going to show and autotune the closest VOR freq on my route? 2) Once I do put in a frequency manually, how do I get that NAV radio to go back to FMS auto (even though I'm not sure what exactly it means)? 3) How do I pull up the NAV2 radio on the PFD? Thanks!

Yesterday was a Good Day! The weather started off not too good, but seeing as there were a couple of qualified instructors down at the club I managed to get two more of the lectures out of the way (there are several to get signed off on as part of taking up gliding). Near the end of the second lecture, it was announced that we would be flying during the rest of the afternoon. I ended up having two short flights - no problem because I need to get on with circuit planning too! My instructor looked at my card and said right, you're doing the launch then. Er... no don't think I'm ready... OK he said, but you're doing the second one! I guess with 20 flights und…

I read that one of the big new features is the flight plan... wasn't this always available in the GTN? If so, then what exactly has changed or improve? Are we now able to save and load specific flight plan formats such as .PLN files made with 3rd party programs such as PFPX, etc?

Hello All- I have been looking to see if this demo is compatible with Prepar3d V3. The installed only shows FSX and Prepar3D v2. I was going to try to use the Estonia migration tool but it looks like the installer still wants to point to Prepea3d v2 config and xml files. I am running Orbx Open Landclass for Europe and Orbx Global so I was hoping this was logical add-on to enhance the night flying. Since the lights stay on during the day - does this impact the buildings density autogen ? Thanks, Daniel

Secret Project Unveiling - vEarth (Virtual Earth) this project has been in the making for some time now, initially on paper, than as a proof of concept, and now it is in full on development! with this project we aim for a new experience when it comes to Photoreal scenery integration! we are still working and developing in-house functionalities we need to achieve this experience, starting with color corrected Photoreal imagery! for ALL N.A. collected no earlier than 2015! as it stands our standards are LOD15! we will include all seasons variations! and Night! I can't believe what I've done!! As some of you know, I've had a few health issues, and as a result, my head is not exactly 'on track'. Well, it seems things are even worse than I thought... I've managed to PERMANENTLY destroy almost 20 years worth of flightsim software! ALL my downloaded payware addons have been not just deleted, but overwritten with other backup data! Including all the corresponding text files containing the serials, recepts and passwords etc. I'll not bore you all with exactly how. Just know that I had my head up my ***** while thinking I knew what I was doing. Every single payware addon I've purchased since buying FS2002. Plus 5 different FS pl…

The tittle says it all, and the youtube in the link bellow complements it... It's an ineresting diversion from the usual "can a simmer land a jetliner ?..." type of question... One thing I can tell you from my RL experience at the gliding club is that, for sure, a certified Airbus and Boeing flight instructor can't fly a glider, and specially land it the first time successfuly :-) And, btw, the broken ( due to porpoising on landing ) gliders at my two gliding clubs were actually broken by airline captains ( Airbus for the matter, one of them A340 captain ) flying them, who were getting glider certification ...

Wow is all I have to say about this product coming in 2017 from the FSFX Packages. ChasePlane looks like a no hassle replacement for programs like EZDOK. I just watched their demo and was blown away. This is going to be a must have tool for anyone who likes having camera views they can setup inside, outside and statically in your scenery. It has the same force dynamics like EZDOK but with one huge difference... ChasePlane looks to interact with the sim in real time and takes the data being fed and translates it into realistic turbulence and head movements. The GUI looks slick and for Streamers like me it has a Cinematic mode where it just starts doing cinematic c…

Been a few days since I've been able to access the site, the loading status thing says "connected to simbrief.com" but nothing ever loads. downforeveryoneorjustme.com reports "it's just you" but I think it just looks for a reply from the server and never really checks to see if content loads correctly. In IE it eventually times out and the generic failure page tells me I should turn on SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 which are already turned on and have been for a long time. I've tried both IE 11 and Mozilla which was updated to the latest version yesterday. On the simbrief facebook page there's a fresh announcement stating the site has been updated and now supports…
