Hi Folks Can't believe that i had never flown in Alaska. Saw a TV special and last night took a short hop from PANC to PAAQ. So nice I am going to invest in ORBX Alaska soon! If you fly a lot in Alaska, please recommend a couple very scenic routes. Not over 60 min, as us older folks need a potty break! I don't have a bush plane, will use the A2A 182 or the B55 Baron, so keep it to asphalt r/w please! Suggestions greatly appreciated! Lennie G. in North Carolina

Guys, I am being serious now, after 14 years in this industry at PC Pilot Magazine and heaven knows what else, I had to share what was the most memorable, phenomenal experience in the sim I ever had. I am really really serious and was bursting to share! Last night, in rehearsal for Flight Angels next Saturday myself and the streamers, Bel Geode, NovaWing24, Catstrator and others were introduced to Colonel Doug Champagne, the USA's most decorated serving fighter pilot and we had a preview of his presentation for next weekend. He discussed his interception flights in 9/11, how the whole skies of the US went quiet that night apart from military patrols, the eeriness and…

This really tickles me. When I was a kid, I tried repeatedly to get grownups to try and play videogames with me, and the reaction was always about the same as if you had offered garlic to a vampire. I wanted them to share my fun, or at least try it, but the adults in my life steadfastly recoiled from the opportunity, saying things like "Oh I cant do that stuff!" or waving their hands with nearly panicked looks and going "Oh, no no, no no!!" I always felt a bit sad that they not only didn't understand, but didn't even want to try to understand. Strangely enough, years later some of those same adults owned XBoxes and Playstations and very much enjoyed certain types …

I'm interviewing an Airbus Captain tomorrow (A319/320/321) for an upcoming publication. Are there any questions you've always wanted to ask? If there are, let me know and I'll cover as many as I can, and will let anyone who replies know when the answers are published. ------- Charlie

Can anyony shed some light on why the g1000 doesnt seem to be fully functionable. When I go into the procedure page via the proc button and try and select an approach from the list where the yellow cursor is blinking, im not able to get the yellow cursor to scroll down onto any of the other approaches on the list using the FMS button. I have tried using left and right buttons everywhere on the button, even zooming in to a large button and also used the scroll wheel on the mouse as this works with the other buttons. Its frustrating that im not able to select the approach I want to select, rather than having to just press the ENT button to select the app at the top of the…

I may have to buy one of these and market a line of edible aircraft, perhaps shaped from mashed potatoes... Barcelona now Europe's 3D printing hub 3D printing is all the rage in Barcelona. The Natural Machines company has made a business out of printing food, while at the Fab Cafe customers can even print themselves in miniature form. http://www.dw.com/en/barcelona-now-europes-3d-printing-hub/av-19295165 On a more aviation related development, General Electric said it will pay $1.4 billion for two companies, one in Sweden and one in Germany, that use 3D printing to manufacture machine parts. GE said Arcam and SLM Solutions Group will be incorporated into its…

The driver may have had a stroke, or other medical condition, in which case he has my sympathy, but when you look at the videos, it seems he made a bee-line for the engine.... Deliberate? It is with the greatest of pleasure that we can announce that the superlative team at A2A Simulations have joined us as a partner in Flight Angels 2016, the charity aviation online telethon of the decade. The company have also announced their biggest ever giveaway over the charity weekend. can anyone please explain to me this paragraph : Descent VNAV can perform a descent in either of two modes- path descent or speed descent. During a path descent , the FMC uses idle thrust and pitch control to maintain a vertical path, similar to a glideslope in three dimensions. During a speed descent, the FMC uses idle thrust and pitch control to maintain a target descent speed, similar to a level change descent. thank you for your help.

I'm thinking of looking for an airline job, but I don't know what kind of jobs there are. I kind of want to work with people but not as a flight attendant. (I also cannot fly due to eyesight) I only have a vague notion of the kinds of jobs that airlines have.

Like many I have been waiting for Mad Katz to get its act together and start producing Saitek quadrants again. I have been waitlisted for over a year on Amazon. Yesterday they just arrived. The company went through a reorganization and production was interrupted. Anyway, at least Amazon has them now. They appear as in all respects the same as they were. wing87

Today I was looking for someplace new to do some pattern work in Prepar3d, and decided to settle on a random location. Wikipedia has a list of all ICAO codes in the US, and I found a website online that randomized the list. Here it is in Dropbox as a text file for others who might want to add some variety to their flying. Just start at the top and work your way down. Or even better, fly between those locations! There are roughly 1,970 entires in all.

Just wanted to bring this to any study sim fan in here. Rogue System seems to be a dream for anyone that likes realistic procedural button pushing and flight control. Did anyone happen to buy into this early access unfinished title? I'd be curious to hear some plane sim biased feedback. There seems to be a positive vib about this game so far on Steam anyway.

Guys, Froogle, Novawing24, a whole army of streamers, the Serious Fun Childrens Charity, the Vision of Flight Charity, Over The Wall Charity and myself have been working behind the scenes for a long time to create the world's largest online charity event in the history of flight sim. Incidentally, that is not hyperbole, starting this week, there will be worldwide press and marketing through the mainstream press and media! This is a BIG event. For those who don't know the SeriousFun children's charity, it was founded by Paul Newman and is THE celebrity charity in the world that supports children. They have an A-list of people involved including Tom Hanks, Danny De Vito…
