Greetings virtual pilots, Welcome to the content creation/modding thread! When we announced DTG Flight School and DTG Flight Simulator one of the very first questions that we were asked was “Will there be an open, publicly released SDK?” Since that day you have not stopped asking us this question, so we completely understand that being able to create your own content is extremely important to the flight simulation community. From professional developers producing the well-known add-ons that we all love, to the bedroom developers, there are loads of you who spend your free time creating liveries, missions, aircraft, airports/airfields and other freeware and payware…

I want to know what method everyone use to determine what FL to input into the CDU when flying heavy jets like 737/777 A318-A321, etc. Do you use the value that PFPX provides you with, or do you find it from a real world route using websites such as flightaware.com?

Hello folks! I was wondering, in a real airliner, like a 737 or 757,the landing lights can be switched on only with engines running? And what about taxi lights? Thanks!

I am going to repost this video which appears in another thread because the reviewer stated that the Airbus and the 737 in Aerofly FS2 where ported over from Aerosoft and Milviz respectively!!!! https://youtu.be/vz-ZqtAR8Bg?t=12m10s What does this mean? If two very well established FS developers already have a hand in this I suspect this may be the start of something worth of the community support. I understand there will be an SDK for this simulator. This means 3 completely different sims, not just different competing version of the same old simulator. FYI I bought it and I'll buy into it. Remember this is also early access. I'll have to go get my Sidewinder …

I was wondering if some of you could share some of your favorite routes for the PMDG 777. So that I can load up into the FMS and just fly. Whenever I use PFPX to create flight plans, I end up messing something up,e specially towards the approach, and my plane ends up missing the waypoint all together and then I'm off path and cant recover myself down to the localizer to land. I have been unsuccessful most of the time in landing. I really would like to load up a flight plan and just have it be automated as much as possible without having to fiddle around.

WEll, yes I voluntarily went for a trip in a plane with no engine! Had a great time soaring along the ridge next to the airfield. I got to try the controls and flew her for a bit - coordinating the turns is quite challenging, but WOW! the view!! The weather was good enough to let us stay around the ridge for as long as we wanted - we only came in to land because they were packing up on the ground. Not sure how long we were aloft but at least 30 mins. I'll know for sure in the coming days if I get billed for the extra minutes! The instructor was quite pleased that he could demonstrate all 3 axes of control to me and have me flying the ASK 21. https://en.wikipedia.org/w…

I know in the US/Canada its 18,000ft, and in Europe it varies by country and airport, and in Asia as well. Such as Hong Kong is 9,000 and Singapore I thinkk 11,000. I can't seem to find some kind of list or database that will list all the transition altitudes. I'm trying to do a flight from RKSI to VHHH, but don't know what to use for Korea.

I heard that starting the plane from a cold & dark state at the gate isn't very realistic, so which one do you guys use, the short or long state when flying the pmdg 737 or 777? and what is the difference between the 2?

Found this at the IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad forums, posted by one of the forum members who was trying to find the ideal setting to get rid of stutters in that combat flight sim. Any comments / thoughts appreciated... Of course, don't try it at home - at least I won't until I really understand what it does... and, after all, my il2 doesn't stutter at all :-)

Hello, I know somebody made static aircraft using SAMM a while back, and uploaded to different websites (including here). I have made 512 static aircraft/airlines from different sources...I just need to know if I need permission from the original authors of the material to share/upload??? If, and when I can I will break the files down alphabetically for easier download, and this way nobody is downloading the whole package just to get to a few files. The files will work in FS9/EZ-Scenery...not sure about Runway 12, or FSX...sorry. If anybody can give me some insight on this I would appreciate it. I spent a few days converting traffic, and I would like to share what I've…

Boeing is 100 years old as it all started July 15, 1916 in Heath's Shipyard on the Duwamish River in Seattle. I will never forget my first time on an Air Canada Boeing 747-100 back in the 1970's and how exciting that was. I also really liked the 727's at that time as they looked and sound really cool (and still do). Modern jets don't have the same look and feel. I would say the B-17 and the B-24 are the greatest aircraft ever produced with over 30,000 of them produced for the war effort in a short period of time. Then of course the 737 with more then 9000 of them produced over 50 years now, being close to half of Boeing's history as a company and many more decades to …

This just in from the local news outlet: http://wtop.com/alexandria/2016/06/va-residents-pack-meeting-increased-noise-near-airport/slide/1/ So there's been increased "noise" among the residents that live around DCA, or Washington Reagan National Airport, in Washington, DC. Anyone who is familiar with this airport, it has been on the list as one of the more challenging airports to land at, in the world, due to it's complicated approach. Since I live not far from this airport, I have taken plenty of trips there to planespot, and have enjoyed the feeling of standing beneath these birds as they take off and land. As for the noise though, being that close, all of th…

No doubt somewhere there is a post from an administrator as to why these forums have been closed - but as we can't search for the three-letter term 'PSS' I have not managed to locate any such thread. Could someone please explain why these forums are now marked as 'closed'? A sad loss as far as I am concerned... Thanks.

Just a timely 'wake-up' call to all of us I suppose... but Richard Asberg (aka WebMaximus), has just suffered the PC Owner's Ultimate Nightmare in that, after running a simple uninstaller to remove an outdated Scenery Add-On, he latterly discovered that it had removed an awful lot more than he would ever have imagined that it had access to. To add insult to injury - this 'silent assassin' completed it's task and left it's lethal payload in the meticulous backups that Richard performs on a regular basis - thus rendering any attempt at a 'Roll Back' useless. End result? Richard is now in the process of rebuilding his entire (and very sophisticated), system from scr…

Hi all, I've just found this screenshot from 1999's Fly! sim. I never played it, but I remember trying the sequel. Was too young to understand anything back then Anyways, looking at this old deception of Manhattan I remembered seeing a screenshot from a similar spot, but using Drzewiecki Design's NYC X v2. Not sure whether that's in FSX or P3Dm but it doesn't matter. Have a look: There's around 15 years between the 2 shots. Obviously, we've made huge progress in graphics. But do you think it was a rapid progress ? In the end, 15 years is quite a long time. And what lies ahead ? Do you think 15 years down the road we'll be looking at som…

Hi, With the Steam version of FSX on sale for a song now, I'm starting to wonder if it is time to retire my good old box edition. I'm one of the few who never had any real problems with FSX box, it seemed to always work well, and ran smoothly, even with add-on aircraft and Active Sky Next. But the reviews I'm reading say that the Steam edition is even better than the box version, and that P3D is amazing as well. If it was just a matter of switching base programs there would be no issue at all, but I have a lot of money in add-on aircraft. I don't know if all of them work with Steam edition for example, and I know that most will not work with P3D. Some of my…
