I own both FSDT products and a few AES sceneries. Of course there is the debate between GSX and the recurring cost of AES, but I dont want to go there. More specifically, there is a video below that added to my questions about the value of AES. From what I understand SODE allows for all the airframe doors to be docked to a jetbridge and allows control of multiple jetbridges. This was really the only remaining feature AES seemed to have that was lucrative to some users. Is there still any benefit to AES now that airport developers are starting to integrate SODE into their sceneries and GSX remains globally operational?

Hi all, i thought about writing a review for a few days now. After 15 Hours flying time i try to do that. Don`t get me wrong, i like that DTG is investing in the future of flight sim. But this product "DTG Flight School" is a fail in my eyes. I try not bash it, but english is not my native language and the negative impressions weight more. Short version: DTGFS is just like a Mission Pack from a modified version of FSX (modified worse?) with ugly graphics and loads of bugs, and less features. The aim to attract new people to Flight Sim will not happen with this. More likely that they are scared away now. The "Flight School" or flight training element doesn`t…

Just as a heads up for those of you not that familiar with Steam: The DTG Flight School instruction manual can be found and downloaded by going to your Steam library under "Dovetail Games Flight School" and looking to your far right under "Links" One of those links says "Manual" and you will need to click on that to download the PDF I noticed some people mentioning some confusion in setting up the game, so this should be helpful. K'bye!

I can`t even takeoff. -Saitek Rudder Pedals not able to assign axis to toe brakes or rudder. They are preassigned by the game to the stick! What the...?!? -Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick Can`t assign my throttle, it`s not assigned by default. -Trim controls are not fine enough to adjust. Just SLOW and FAST isn`t good enough to fine tune trim. The controller setup is a real mess, tried to figure it out now for 30 minutes, just doesn`t work.

Hello fellow simmers. I have been working on a flying virtual reality project in my own time and resources. Looking to get the Greenlight on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=646813099 I am looking for beta testers to try it out. Especially people with an Oculus Rift. So if you are interested in trying it out the game, and promise to up vote the green light and help spread the word just leave a comment bellow and I can PM you a link to download beta. We would love to hear what kind of feedback the simulation crowd has. If this project is successful I wish to look into more complex flying game for the Oculus. My next dream would be to build o…

Has anyone here been able to keep a consistent 60+FPS while flying over London with maxed out settings? I've noticed that Flight School still uses CPU Core #1 to render buildings and traffic, so I don't think this would be possible unless you have a ridiculous clock speed. I only get around 30FPS with my i5-3570K 4.5GHz.

Hallo, I have a problem with the autopilot not flying the correct track when I approach a SIG or STAR. Example: PMGD tuorial 1 approaching NIRSI; the aircraft should be banking right to fly 090 degrees to EN607. The simulation speed is set "half" and the a/c will bank left continous (flying circles). If I switch to "normal speed" simulation, the autopilot will correct and bank right. This issue occurs at any intersection if approached in other than "normal speed" simulation. Attached a screenshot the shows the a.c configuration. https://www.flickr.com/photos/141330124@N05/shares/40i2J9 Thanks for the help

Hello, I would like to share my thoughts on DTG Flight School as someone who is relatively new to civil flight simming. The TL;DR version is there are things that I think are lacking, and issues that annoy me, but overall I like. Will probably buy the main DTG Flight Simulator depending on how good it seems closer to release date. I've played a few flights sims before, but they were mainly arcade combat sims like F/A 18 Interceptor on the Amiga, Strike Fighters Gold, Pacific Strikers. Mainly because my cousin played them and I sort of played along too. I've also flown RC planes at a fairly basic level, so I'm not entering with no knowledge on how a plane stays…

I got a power consumption monitor that is pretty neat. Its basically a glorified multi meter with a fancy calculator in it displaying wattage being consumed, amps, KWH used etc. Cheap too. 20 bucks. Here is some interesting tidbits. Of course its very subjective to your hardware and other things but in case youve ever wondered your power consumption here is my ballpark figures. PC running at idle with a browser open and roughly 10 tabs open uses 160-180W on avg Running P3d peaked at 280W with major airport, aircraft and scenery. Avg is 240W , minimized it drops to 170-190W X-plane - 350W peak avg 300W Night flying 260W minimized no difference. DTG F…

I just about fly out of Newark every year for Europe, mostly London Heathrow. Since they have to get a crossing clearance / track / time slot, do they get a certain amount of priority on departure so they aren't sitting and burning precious fuel? How does that work?

My wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary by going back the where we honeymooned (Newton Stewart). In deciding to re-visit the area we went somewhere new, namely the above museum. It's a small site, based around the control tower at the former RAF Dumfries. However, there's so much memorabilia in the three floors of the control tower, not to mention the outdoor exhibits themselves, you should probably plan to spend a day or most of a day there. It's not free to get in, but £4.50 per adult is worth it IMHO. The aircraft are indeed very tired and need some restoration, but like any museum, they are constantly trying to do that. Right, here's some p…

I realize that all aircraft are different, but is there general advice out there? I've never really bothered with it in flight simming because it seemed a bit complicated and I could get by without it. I'd like to learn now, so that's my question. Is there a general rule of thumb for setting up trim on an aircraft?

I'm having a strange issue. When I start the sim, at first my frame rate will be in the 40-50 range. Then after a period of time it will suddenly throttle back to 24, seemingly locked at that number, even though "unlimited" is still displayed next to the counter. Turning down the graphic settings has no effect. I can correct by shutting down and restarting the sim. Interestingly, it's still pretty smooth at 24 fps. This has never happened in my other sims (FSX/P3D). BTW I am running a 50" plasma TV as my monitor using HDMI? Anybody else run into this issue? Any thoughts on the cause?

Hi, i thought DTGFS was still using all old datas from FSX. But at my home airport there are all buildings in the right place. Even buildings that were build just last year. I`m a bit impressed for the first time in DTGFS

I am looking at a Jeppesen Chart of EKCH. Due to the sensitivity of copyright issues in the 21st century, I will not post the chart here (as much as I'd like to make this task simpler for you all) Anyway, I am looking at an approach to runway 22L, and I am concerned about the ALM approach. Here is the thing: there is ALM 3A, 1B,1C, 1D, 1E, and 1F approach. What do all these letters mean? I heard somewhere it pertains to the aircraft type, meaning, a turbofan engine plane could be taking the "A" approach, or something like that. I would like this clarified. I was flying to Copenhagen on my sim one day, and the MCDU (yup, flying an airbus at the moment) gave me only o…

One of the few flying WWII P-47D Thunderbolt (Jacky's Revenge) crashed into the Hudson 2 miles South of the George Washington Bridge. (Just North of where Sully went down) There are conflicting reports on the fate of the pilot. NJ State Police say pilot was rescued with minor injuries. MSNBC now though is saying the NYPD says that report was incorrect, and the pilot is still missing. The aircraft was one of a flight of 3 as part of the NY Fleet week events. The other 2 aircraft returned safely to Farmingdale Republic Airport. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/vintage-plane-crashes-into-hudson-river-during-fleet-week/

Working B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L-L-Y , but still not with my home hardware.... because I am still testing it in an old laptop, and it runs all MAXED OUT!!! That's next test, installing in my home pc, now void of any other sims... Love the graphics and the default aircraft Love the UI Love the scenery and the aircraft flight dynamics, even being default. And EVEN MY LPMN ( just recently inaugurated ) is there !!!!! Airports are updated - just checked EDDF and it has the new 25R / 07L I couldn't ask for more, specially because I knew what it wouldn't have, so, I am really ver satisfied so far. I don't mind at all not having real world weather and the s…

I have completed the first series of LAPL lessons with success. My checkride requires a total of 3hrs flight which I haven't yet completed... Would like to coment regarding the flight dynamics. It's obvious that the engine running it is still good old MSFS version 10, but that doesn't mean it is bad. As a matter of fact overall I am really enjoying the flight characteristics, specially power / pitch and trim / speed relations which pretty much reflect what I read about the real counterparts of both aircraft already in the DTG Flight School hangar. An instrument has captured my attention, and I would like to have some confirmation from the debs team regarding i…
