Wanted to share some of my findings with the new DTGFS.

Hi all, so DTG said that it is aimed to beginners of the hobby, or people interested and new to flight sims. You can say what you want about it like it or not, but here are 3 items that i think would scare off the "target audience" 1. For me the biggest bummer was not being able to setup my controls to get it flying. I`m not a beginner but i didn`t found the "axes" dropdown and i was overwhelmed after years of FSX absence by the magnitude of controls... hundreds... and you need maybe 10-20? Some events aren`t even simulated. So i needed 30 minutes to figure that out, and went flying. Then anoter 20 minutes to fine tune and some extra assignments and to elmina…

I have all Saitek gear, yoke, rudder and quadrants. The settings have a place where it says change assignments but there is nothing to click there? So my quadrant controls the yoke and my toe brakes control the elevator. Where can I change this? How do I change keyboard assignments as well. Also bonus question. After a flight what is the best way to end it? Esc?? Then??

Since I missed the Axis configuration menu, and apparently am also missing where to eable AI traffic because I do not see any and sme users have reported seeing it all around, I wonder if I am also missing some way of manually defining weather parameters instead of just picking the default weather themes ? Is there access to the FSX-like weather menu, where wind, temperature and cloud coverage can manually be set ?

Now that I have spent a few hours progressing through the LAPL, here is a list of features that I would like to see concidered for Flight School to make the learning experience better. I have avoided making suggestions regarding scenery as I don't see this as a core issue. - Radio Tuning, allow fast tuning by MHz units as well as just the existing KHz units - GPS built into VC panel in Arrow - heading bug needs to display degrees so it can be set accurately. - joystick button configuration in settings. - quick guide to keyboard commands and instructions like where is the flap lever. If this school is targeted to new comers, I'm sure these are the type of things th…

I've been playing around with Nvidia Inspector and Flight School... but have not yet found any anti-aliasing settings that appear to have a positive impact. Actually, specifying the BIOShock compatibility mode with different MS and TSS modes does make a difference; but also results in artifacts. I tried Jordan King's recommendations... but didn't see any improvement. Has anybody had success? And yes, I do have the fsc.exe associated with my profile.

So I went ahead a bought it in Steam and I have a good first Impression! It seems to me that what the dev. is in the process of doing ins making a bare bones sim with an SDK. Seems to me that this a a 3PD's dream come true! So just to qualify my remarks I am not simming right now and all my controllers are packed away in boxes, I cannot do any realistic flying in the sim. But I have loaded it up and it really does look fantastic for an early release. It does in fact have the entire globe but most of it is very rough blurred textures. But the entire globe is there! As a huge fan of FS Labs' ConcordeX I am frustrated I cannot make decent recordings of my flights. I have tried FSRecorder but it doesn't record either reheat or the visor/nose movement. These are two of Concorde's most important features but a request for these to be included when recording has ended in disappointment with no discussion on the topic on the FSRecorder forum in over 4 years. With all the utilities available for FSX / P3D it's disappointing nothing is compatible with this iconic aircraft. Can anyone recommend a product that is 100% compatible please?

After 18:00, if I do not see the future for civil flight simulation, my disk will be empty.... I don't want, and will NOT go back to 32 bit, and I also do not want to play more War games even if the quality of their flight dynamics justifies it... Flipping through some old Youtube videos yesterday, I stumbled upon one that intrigued me. It was from one of the Youtubers who posts quite a bit of flight simulation videos, and one of his flights surprised the heck out of me. It was a long-haul flight from EINN (Shannon, Ireland) to KJFK (New York, USA). It was a calculated 3,000nm+ flight...in an Airbus A318. At first, I had to re-watch it, to see if my eyes were deceiving me, but sure enough, it could be done. I confirmed it through another video on Youtube, whereby someone had posted an in-flight video of their trek from EGLC (London City) to EINN (Shannon, for a pitstop) and then on to KJFK. In the Ask DTG topic this was posted: I think some people need to face reality and lower their expectations and wishes. What is asked for above isn't even in FSX/P3D right now so how could you expect all this to be in a brand new (base!!!) sim...? Yes, a lot of what is asked (but still not everything!!!) can be brought into FSX/P3D but only buy spending 10 times (probably even more) the amount of money the base sim costs. Seriously, what do you expect? A perfect sim right from the start for the price of a game? We all asked for progress and leaving the old behind.
