On Thursday Pete Dowson and I visited the Concorde simulator at the Brooklands Museum located around 10 miles south of London Heathrow aiport, England. There are various packages available to the public. We chose the Gold package which includes lunch with two former Concorde pilots and 30 minutes each in the simulator. Pete and I travelled down the previous day and stayed 30 miles outside London to ensure we were fresh for the day. We arrived at the museum around 10.15am intending to spend some time looking around but less than an hour is nowhere near enough time. As well as the Concorde simulator there is a motor and bus museum as well as several aircraft available to …

For those of you that didn't know, TFDi has been working on a high-fidelity 717 for FSX and P3D. They'll be doing a livestream showing off the plane on June 9th (details: https://blog.tfdidesign.com/2016/05/12/tfdi-design-717-first-public-flight-live-stream/). There seems to be a lot of demand for a detailed 717, so this should make a lot of people happy

Man I wish they'd had a program like this when I was a student there. Of course back then dinosaurs had just recently died out, so... Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi has been working with NASA in developing and testing hardware and software that will eventually make it possible for drones to become fully integrated into the nation's ATC system, thus increasing the situational awareness for everyone.

I've been using RC4 for years and I've noticed that sometimes on a flight you can be asked to change your squak several times in a flight, and I was curious about why this was? Forgive me if I misspelled the word, I've never actually seen it written.

Hello Friends, I just started making flight sim videos as a passion project. Would you mind taking 5-10 minutes to answer the following survey so I can craft future videos that you'll love? Thanks Nick https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZKQGQYF

You've ever thought that a glideslope of an ILS is a "straight" line in space from the Final Approach Point to the Touchdown Zone, right? Well, it's not! At least not mathematically speaking The reason why is simple: The GlideSlope emitter is not located on top of the runway for obvious reasons. While the localizer antennas define a plane in space, the glideslope antennas define a very open, upside-down cone. The semi-angle of this cone is, for a standard 3 degree glidepath, 87º. And the glideslope is the intersection of this cone with an offset plane that does not pass through the cone's vertex. Such intersection curve is called a HYPERBOLA I…

Just wondering... It`s due in 2 weeks. No major games website reported about it, not even Flight Simulator related ones. Just some forum posts here and there. But i have maybe 10 flightsim forums in my favorites and just 3 with posts about DTGFS. The only with valuable information and most active is this here. They sent 20 preview copies and just 4 people made a (p)review? Whats going on? Dead before release or groundbreaking surprise?

Hello again friends, If you took the other survey I put up, thank you! Unfortunately I screwed up the data asking about specific aircraft, so it is not useful. I have decided to focus on fighter jets/planes and high performance aircraft. I have decided to call the YouTube channel "Fighter Jet Magic." However, that does not mean my videos will be exclusively of fighter jets/planes. Even most passenger jets are high performance in my book, so I will occasionally do videos on those as well, as well as GA aircraft like the Lancair Legacy. All that being said, could you take a quick 5 min survey, and tell me The Fighter Jets/Planes You Love to Watch in FS…

After about three weeks of reinstalls, monkey wrenching...my new high end gaming PC and FSX is up and running....it feels so good. Got the Saitek pro pedals, trim wheel, throttles, Yoke, multi switch panels all configured the way I like them. Have a new Thrustmaster joystick all ready to go for the helicopters and jets....man this is great. I did a late afternoon flight through Washington State and into Oregon in the Beechcraft Baron 58 with the G1000 and GTN750 installed finished at night in Salem. With REX4 + soft clouds, sliders to the max...it was a thing to behold. Best flightsim experience I've ever had. My wife was so happy for me given how much time and m…

Blast from the past: A flight sim that might have been, but the time wasn't right, the stars were wrong, and the opportunity was lost. I still have it on my HD but the servers apparently don't work anymore. Imagine where this tech would look like now if it had been pursued as a sim.

Hey everybody, Last week I downloaded the OZx scenery version 3.4. from their website http://aussiex.org/forum/ When I read the documentation I learned that this is not a standalone Install but just another upgrade in a series of scenery packages. However since 3 or 4 days I´m having trouble getting on their website. I´m not a registered member of their forum and it´s impossible to get the site to load properly. I always get the following message: and when I click on ANY link I get this: I tried this with different computers and mobile devices, no joy. Is anyone else seeing this too? I Just want to make sure there isn…

Ok, so with the new platform of DTG FS, I am thinking that maybe we could have a new approach to sky textures and lighting interpretation. It has frustrated me for a while that there are no separate and distinct controls for cloud lighting. I think there should be because sometimes the colors that would make the clouds look better are not the same ones to make the other scenery look good. I think there should be pixels that can adjust the sky texture itself and nothing else and then there would be pixels that light the ground, airplane and ground scenery objects and also set shadows for those objects and finally of course there would be pixels to set the cloud sun …

I've spent the day following this quite closely, since Edmonton (my home) is the closest major city to Fort McMurray. I don't personally know anyone affected, but I have many friends and many more work colleagues that do. If anyone is unfamiliar with this story, check out some of the news clips, or check #ymmfire on Twitter - some very chilling footage from the mass evacuations yesterday. Heavier-than-normal air traffic coming into YEG this afternoon and this evening (my house is under one of the arrival routes); lots of extra flights coming out of the northern oil sands camps where a sizable portion of the cities evacuees fled to and who are now being flown into YEG…
