Still a developing situation, but an Airbus traveling from Alexandria Egypt to the capitol of Cairo was diverted to Cyprus during a squawk 7500 situation. http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/29/europe/hijacked-egypt-air-jet/index.html

Hello all, Let me give you a little background before I post this topic. I am currently an flight sim enthusiast and aviation enthusiast all around. I am in college for a dual associates AAS (Associates of Applied Science) and an AS (associates of science) professional pilot degree. I am concerned about the future of aviation and have been reading all over for months and decided to post on this forum because most of you have been aviation enthusiasts far more years than I have, so I am seeking advice. I am wondering if I continue to pursue my dream of flying whether or not I will be able to land a job flying something. I have decided I do not care much about pay …

I can't believe that with all the users on this site the fund raising goal has not been met. Based on the value everyone has gotten from this for "free" I'm saddened that of the cheap skate mentality. Oh, this weather generating program is "free" with donation. Well, that's free then. Off to the pub I go. Come on, step up and support what you love. Or I'm sending Guido the killer pimp to the pub too.

Hi everyone. I'm putting this here rather than the cockpit builder's forum because I don't know that it's necessarily a cockpit builder issue. But if there's somewhere it should sit other than this and the mods want to move it that's good by me. Last night I started thinking about an instructor station for my basement sim (which runs P3D), in part so I could quickly set up approach scenarios etc. for practice, and also so I could put buddies in the sim and throw all kinds of failures at them. I have a used Surface 3 at home that's recently been replaced, and with its touchscreen and kickstand I thought it might be the perfect interface for an instructor platform conne…

I thought I read that the Orbx vector lights automatically turn off when in the region that you are using the NE products. I have British Isles and Orbx Global , Orbx Ireland and Northern Ireland. What I am observing is the vector lights "popping" into the scenery as I am flying. I am assuming this Orbx vector lights as move to the next LOD radius area. It looks light whole sectors of the roadway suddenly getting switched on. I am running P3d 3.2. How do I minimize that effect? Thanks in advance.

I recently came by these two articles: 7 Instrument Approaches You Have to See to Believe The Approach Plate Olympics - More Crazy Charts And there's really some interesting stuff in there This DME arc all the way to the runway kills me! The missed approach of Aspen has its own LOCALIZER!: And this approach is done completely leveled to the MAP: Do you have some others worth sharing? If so, please do!

Thought I would post something helpful for me and maybe helpful to others. Here is a website I use to find the active runway for landings and takeoffs. http://www.icao.dk/ Although Active Sky Next gives me the metar info it does not tell me the active runway in use. At times when I thought I would have the correct runway programmed in the fmc base on wind calculations, atc would give me a different runway. So I´ve been using this site which has never failed me yet. Try it. You too may find it useful as well.

Ok as the title says, i'm wondering if anyone has real world knowledge or anything that knows when do we use lower airways? If we fly heavys like 737 and A320s for example from LOWS to EGGP. Do we include lower airways for the STAR into EGGP? Because at EGGP KEGUN2B http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/eadbasic/pamslight-2A353864ACE98635855C50FC60FC099F/7FE5QZZF3FXUS/EN/Charts/AD/AIRAC/EG_AD_2_EGGP_7-3_en_2016-02-04.pdf It mentions ONLY lower airways for the routing into the STAR? So what is allowed? I got CFMU pass with having lower airways and upper airways going into KEGUN2B - from ELVOS T420 and i also tried UT420.

I am wondering if developers of addons can tell what platforms we are installing into. Do they get automatic feedback from each installation? That would give them a sense of where their work is going. Just curious? I am wondering if they observe any trends.

Have been a FSX user for some time until my PC self-destructed so using older machine currently only with FS9 so stuck with that for now. Not such a bad thing though. Kinda enjoying flying rather then tweaking for a change. A new build is on the agenda, so been thinking of which route to take. Of course both are an option I suppose, but I find I'd rather concentrate on one only. I'm kinda not liking what I'm reading in the P3D forum with all the new updates etc. I'm starting to wonder if FSX is far less of a hassle to get running then P3D is currently. Be interested to get some more views and opinions ans facts on the matter. Mark L.

March 16, 2016 Hello everybody When I want to close FSX, my AVG protection software indicates it has found in c: (which is the disk of my Windows 7 64 installation but not the one on which FSX is installed) a file named 0\FSX\FSX.EXE which it considers as a malware and, actually, FXS does not completely stop until AVG has eliminated this file. I have tried to locate this file in C; but could not. Does anybody knows what it is ? Thanks a lot Candide

Hi guys Is there something similar to airnav.com that gives runway info to the level of detail that's found on airnav.com for the USA I'm more interested in Europe but may try further afield if I can get the same kind of info I'm trying my hand at photo scenery airport design but I can't find a lot of info to the level of airnav for Europe Thanks

After every plane crash, within hours of the event there are usually photos published of distraught relatives in tears at the arriving airport. This seems like an invasion of privacy to me. These poor people are emotionally broken, in perhaps the lowest state of their lives, and on top of that must deal with cameras going off all around them and pictures of themselves in despair and grief on the front of every news site or paper. I understand the airport is a public location, but is there any responsibility for news gatherers to have signed permission from the subject before publishing the photos? It's extremely hard for me to believe that these relatives might have signe…

The AVSIM CEO and Board of Directors' have modified the signature rules to eliminate links to any commercial website or flight simulator (FS) related websites. You may still have up to five links to your personal website or blog or to other members personal websites or blog that display, for instance, Flight Simulator images and videos. You may also have signature banners (no change) included in your signature that shows your favorite product but the banners must not contain active links to any websites. You can also have up to five lines of text and many members use that to provide information about their system specifications and their favorite FS products a…

On one of the Facebook groups, 2 new screen shots were shared and an interview was done with Stephen Hood. Pretty interesting to hear his thoughts on their custom made scenery models, aircraft development, hardware peripherals, ATC, and other things.
