Hi All, This has crossed my mind before, but with the upcoming release of the Apex addon for Arma 3, and the island of Tanoa, I don't think there is a superior world engine out there currently. It runs beautifully on my PC, the only downside I see is that the flight models suck, but as a graphical engine for reproducing a realistic world to explore, it's unsurpassed.

Being hands on only semi-regularly, sometimes I've forgotten more than I know about this hobby. What I don't remember today is why I was downloading Level D navdata, when I don't have the aircraft. I did use it for something.

  3. Wikki page shows Crew: 2 For some real world pilots what are the official FAA requirements to fly the Cessna 404? I want to simulate flying it in an air taxi/charter capacity. Would this make a difference?

GS has has sold millions. Amazing. Now we have a sequel, and once again must face the prospect of a goat simulator outselling flight sims.

  6. Good day. Was just searching through various on-line shopping sites and came across FSX Gold Edition (Boxed) being sold at ridiculous prices. Any ideas as to why it became so expensive? I have 3 new sealed boxes at home which I purchased cheaply around 3 years ago but never used them (I bought them hoping to get friends interested in the hobby). I use P3D v3 and don't touch FSX so who would really want to pay so much for a 2006 boxed product which can be found on Steam in a recompiled format? Is it now seen as a collectors item? I've checked in other forums but all give differing reasons. Regards.

  7. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/02/politics/military-plane-crash/index.html One incident was involving the Thunderbirds in Colorado at the Air Force Academy commencement, the President later diverted his trip after his speech at the Academy to meet with the pilot who survived. The second was a Blue Angels plane that crashed during training in Tennessee. It is believed that the pilot did not survive. God be with them and their families.

Just now one of the F-5 fighters of the Patrouille de Suisse crashed near Bitgum, a small town in the Netherlands near the airbase of Leeuwarden. Fortunately according to the latest news the pilot ejected and is ok. The demoteam is visiting the Netherlands for the airshow at EHLW on June 10th and June 11th. Edit: and then I read there was also a crash of one of the SU-27's of the Russian Knights earlier today. That pilot did not survive...

  9. It states somewhere in their sales blurb that Flight1's GTN750 runs outside of FSX/P3D. This apparently has benefits to the running and VAS of the Flightsim... I guess it kinda connects through Simconnect... sooo why can't aircraft dev's make their process intensive and memory hogging gauges/FMS's run outside the SIM to free up VAS and help make the SIM smoother... ????? Any Ideas ???

The AVSIM CEO and Board of Directors' have modified the signature rules to eliminate links to any commercial website or flight simulator (FS) related websites. You may still have up to five links to your personal website or blog or to other members personal websites or blog that display, for instance, Flight Simulator images and videos. You may also have signature banners (no change) included in your signature that shows your favorite product but the banners must not contain active links to any websites. You can also have up to five lines of text and many members use that to provide information about their system specifications and their favorite FS products a…

  11. Hi everyone. My name is Martin and I am the Community Manager for all flight simulation projects here at Dovetail Games. It is great to see so many of you talking about the recently announced DTG Flight School and Flight Simulator. With so many threads popping up about these two titles here in forum it is simply not possible for me to respond to everyone and keep track of everything. To this end I have created this thread where you can talk to me and ask questions about the upcoming sims. Please keep in mind that both titles are still in development so I do not currently have answers for everything you might want to know, however I will do my best to answe…

After 23 hours i found a positive aspect in DTGFS. Night Lights. But only if not too close, then they are overdone. But far away from above it looks quite nice. And it does not look everywhere good as here. In the video you can see EDDF at night, with the major roads (Autobahn) bright enlighted. Just the LOD could be bigger, you see the lights popping in and out in the not so far distance. The Airport itselt isn`t too bad also, actual database, with new runway and hangars.

First of all, my graphics are really messed up. Anti alliassing doesnt seem to do anything, I've got jagged lines in so many places... And I cant find settings in the menus that change anything about it. Besides that, the colors are extremely oversaturated and intens that it gives me headaches. Since I read about this from more players, I've been waiting for an update to fix these problems, but still nothing... Second, is there a clear guide about how to set up controls? I can only find a very basic interface that shows basic axes, but I cant find where to go to find the complete function list. What also isnt very helpful, is that the throttle keeps changing it's set…

  20. Hi all, I'm tuning the ILS on an a largish GA twin engine airplane so that it holds the Glideslope better. I've never flown an ILS RW, with or without an autopilot. I've got two different configurations I'm working on: One setting has trouble seeking to the signal in gusty winds like thunderstorms...tends to overshoot, up and down with negative dynamic stability when it's really bad. Once it gets onto it, however, it holds onto it like death. The other one finds the signal better, even in the storm, but doesn't hold it as tightly...prefers to drift along with the GS close but slightly off. From your experience, which would be more realistic? I've been hunting…

Well first off I hope people will add their Hamburger Run's here. Second when you start on the runway at KTEX you get the High Altitude Reward because the airport is above 8,000 feet. Didn't even know this was going to happen when I first started at KTEX. It's a nice little really quick $1.00 hamburger run (instead of $100.00 run), since it is so quick, and nice landing on the CO68 or CO95 airports or landing strips because they are also on an elevated plateau, which I don't think they are in FSX or FSX-SE. It's good scenery too and really quick if you have 10-15 minutes. List your Hamburger Run please! Still trying to get the white flashing to go away. Co…

....all 859 pages of it! Picked up this document from ebay recently (it comes on a CD, so Duxford would have the original I presume). The Victor is a favourite of mine, even more so now that I can fly a lovely virtual rendition.
