(Cool story, bro!!) https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/12/21/elite-dangerous-rescue-mission-christmas/ https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/395703-The-Void-Beyond An explorer in Elite Dangerous has ventured into the void between galaxies, seeking to break the record for travelling the furthest distance from our own sun. But due to a miscalculation, they’ve run out of the fuel necessary for a return trip and are currently stranded further than any pilot has ever been from civilisation. Now the fuel rats – a collection of players who save player ships from dereliction by refueling them – are mounting an ambitious multi-ship rescue that will take tw…

Hi Folks, As an aficionado of all things Cape Air - just came across an article where Cape Air signed a deal with Tecnam to replace the venerable Cessna 402's... I don't know - it certainly seems to lose it's charm in translation - or perhaps I'm just getting old... It's the first time I've seen this plane - fixed gear - high wing - ugh... On the bright side - maybe we'll get a finely modeled P2012 in flight sim before we see a Cessna 402... http://aviationtribune.com/airlines/north-america/cape-air-first-fly-tecnam-p2012-traveller/ Tecnam P2012 Traveller Regards, Scott

This is my favorite type of flying. I have spent hours flying like this in my sim usually following the plane just like in the video so that I can watch the scenery go by. Flying down river canyons, highways and logging roads through the mountains just to see where they go is fun, especially with the knowledge that I can walk away from my bad judgment One of my most memorable flights was from Eagle County to Jackson Hole, via West Yellowstone flying at 500 AGL following only a highway map. I was in my 185 Bush Plane but the trip still took forever. Dale https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1T83fWOZNU

Does any simulation hardware makers make a panel of gauge knobs besides FLYPFC.com (https://flypfc.com/shop/avionics/remote-instrument-console-ric/)? That is, a panel of knobs for adjustment of heading indicator, heading bug, 2 VORs, attitude indicator, altimeter, etc.

Orbx just posted their road map for 2018 and FSW does not seem to be a big part of their future development. Disclaimer...I may have missed something on the long thread. Could this mean that DTG has something really big on the way for the ground environment as a core feature? I hope so. Considering what DTG is doing for the sky environment, hopefully they will add something innovative for the ground environment. https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/147038-orbx-2018-roadmap-115-screenshots/

I only fly online with either Vatsim or PilotEdge. Both have their plusses and minuses in my opinion. Pilotedge pros - full guaranteed coverage top to bottom in the west, very professional / Cons - only in the west, very little traffic, $. With Vatsim, I see the pros being you can fly online any time, not limited to roughly half of the US, a little more traffic / Cons - no guaranteed coverage, bad sound quality at times. Does anyone know what improvements, changes, additions, features that will be coming up in the near/distant future to either of these 2 applications? I haven't flown on IVAO. How does that compare in the US? I'm just curious if there are any rumors…

I recently started flying my PMDG 737 NGX and 747-400 using FMC programmed flightplans and the autopilot (don't ask what I was doing with them prior to this), and it has been great fun. Bearing that in mind, I decided to try the same with the Quality Wings Avro RJ70. Programming the FMC is reasonably similar to the Boeing planes, but obviously there are differences in the overall preparation for each flight. To be honest, I was probably too keen to get off the ground when I started my flight from EGAA Belfast Aldergrove to EGPL Benbecula, but this is what happened.... * TAKE 1 - the speedbrake handle blocks the letter "U" on the FMC, so I deployed them to get it out …

Christmas for me began a few days ago when my Christmas present from Betty arrived. A box of a dozen perfect pears from Dave and Harry. She enrolled me in the fruit of the month club. I am fresh fruit addict. I start with a bowl of fruit consisting of a half an apple, and small orange, and a few grapes with my breakfast every morning and I munch on fresh fruit throughout the day. So it was a perfect gift and fit just right. This afternoon for Christmas dinner I made my signature rare roast beef and grilled carrot halves, potato slices, and Portabello mushroom slices on the stove top grill. It was done just in time to watch A Christmas Story on television. I w…

For Xmas I received a Patent application blueprint 3 view for a 9 cylinder radial single engined bi-plane. The patent application is in the name of W.D. Clark, is dated August 20, 1926 & appears to be Patent # 1,723,678. I am curious as to whether the aircraft actually was built & flown, & if so, what it was named? I have had an initial look in the Internet, there is material about the Patent, but so far I haven't found anything on a built aircraft. Thanks T45

Just wondering, what are your December themed flights? In the darkness of December (northern hemisphere) what brings the holiday spirit to you? When I was a kid, I was on an annual flight from CYSJ to CYYT on the defunct EPA 737s. It was always cold and snowy. Just wondering what your memories are and what you enjoy simming at this time of year?

I know that Carenado can come in for a lot of criticism on these forums from time to time mainly as a result of perceived shortcomings in the systems of some of its otherwise visually perfect aircraft. Although some of this criticism may be justified particularly in the eyes of the purists, the purpose of this post is not to criticise Carenado but to give them the kudos they are due for providing timely upgrades to P3Dv4 for a huge number of aircraft. Unlike some developers who unashamedly charge the full price again to existing customers to get a P3Dv4 version or other developers who at least give a discount to existing customers, Carenado has provided all of these updat…

Looks like Boeing has its response (I mean, apart from Government tariffs) to the Airbus/Bombardier deal. "Boeing is in talks to acquire or merge with Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer, though “there is no guarantee a transaction will result from these discussions,” the company said Thursday. Boeing did not say whether the potential deal would be a purchase or a merger, calling it “a potential combination.” “Boeing and Embraer do not intend to make any additional comments regarding these discussions,” Boeing said in a news release. “Any transaction would be subject to the approval of the Brazilian government and regulators, the two companies’ boards and Embraer’s…

I have noticed that my Quality Wings Avro RJ70 navdata does not include certain UK navaids that are included in the PMDG 737 NGX database. Unfortunately, these are generally RNAV approach waypoints that are actually rather more important for my RJ70 flights than they are for the 737. An example would be ELROV on the approach to runway 27 at EGGD Bristol International. Can someone explain to me why these particular navigational aids are not included in the Quality Wings Avro RJ/BAe 146 database? Do I really have to start paying subscriptions to Navigraph to get these navaids added to the QW database, or is there an alternative solution? If I have to pay, is there a "one of…
