I would like to make a plea to aircraft developers, who don't already do so or who have stopped providing them, to consider adding 2D pop-up panels for some instruments/controls which may be difficult to access or see in their virtual cockpits. Developers such as PMDG, A2A and others already provide multiple optional 2D pop-ups for monitoring and controlling various functions and these are exceptionally useful and helpful by providing quick and easy access. Even freeware developers such as Manfred Jahn in his amazingly good C-47 provide some really useful pop-up 2D windows. This is all the more important for aircraft with multiple or complex systems which more often than…

I see on their website that you can download it for android devices. Is anyone running this software on their tablet rather than on the main FSW system. Does it interface okay and work the same?

Now that I have FSX Steam working pretty well I thought I'd reinstall P3Dv4 again and see how it works with my new computer. I downloaded the latest version. I had a chart for all the settings I used before and had MSAA set to 4 samples. But now I have a choice of MSAA or SSAA. What is SSAA and which one should I use? Also, what is a tessellation factor and what should it be set at. My old chart says to set it at medium. Noel

- Just cross-posting this from our Steam forum- Hello everyone - some big news today (as I’m sure you’re all aware), I wanted to use this developer update post to talk in more detail about Flight Sim World moving onto Phase 2 of Development. Since our debut last May, we’ve introduced major updates (for example, Advanced Weather and our Cold + Dark implementation), and made over 500 bug fixes, tweaks and numerous other alterations based on your feedback. With the release of Update 16 today, we’ve squashed more bugs, adjusted the avionics and made numerous alterations to mission difficulty, all based on what you’ve been telling us. You can read the full update notes h…

I received a new PC for Christmas. I've used MSFSX for a long time, but have had no luck activating it the new PC. I've taken a look at the Dovetail web sites, but am a little confused over where to start. What is the basic program you first download and where do you sign up for it? I saw some World program and it appeared to be 64 bits. Is that a whole new stand alone program or do you add it onto the basic FSX-Steam program? Does that make everything 64 bit? And most important, can you still add programs into Steam such as PMDG aircraft, etc. Just any general info is appreciated. Mike Nicholson

Just in time I noticed that my 10,000 post on AVSIM was coming up and here it is! My 10,000th post! To make this moment memorable I decided to do an add-on giveway! Everyone here on the AVSIM forum has the chance to win (around) 25 euro's to spend on a flightsim add-on. I don't just want to give away money, of course: I want this to be 'on topic' so the money has to be spend on your flightsim (whatever flightsim that might be). I know at least one flightsimstore that sells gift coupons so I think I will somehow transfer the money that way but I'll work out the details with the winner. If you wonder why I am giving away money, well, I decided to do this to make u…

Alright, it's time for the signature bear to return to a mission. The original idea is from Resort Supply in FSX and has been reimagined by Theo and myself for Flight Sim World. Pick up apples at Methow Valley and deliver them to Lost Valley Resort. After which time you fly through the mountain valley's to pick up an abandoned plane, that a pilot had ditched earlier. I think you will like this mission especially the last part after picking up the plane and flying back to Chelan! For FRIEND's only as it is Beta on Steam! Let us know what you think and if we need to make adjustment's before general release!

A friend of mine shared a picture of his new home simulator. He lives in Las Vegas, and had a new addition to his home constructed, and commissioned this B777 "home cockpit". ~$600,000 including the building addition. It is run by six computers loaded with P3Dv4 (started with P3Dv3):

I suspect the sale price will win over some more purchasers... like me! Sorry I'm so shallow! Anyhow the download went well from Steam last night and I began the initial lessons. Impressive graphics (which we all know about by now). The Cub seemed to handle as this layman might expect. The install defaulted to mid high on the gfx sliders. OK until I switched to an external view on the lesson - SLideshow!! It seems reducing the scenery slider did the trick so far. Or was it my machine catching up with all the graphics? Should I have waited a few minutes? All lessons completed, just need to complete the 3 hours free flight. Done one mission too - deadstick the Che…

I found this interesting: If you’re looking to build a PC today, chances are you’re in trouble. Cryptocurrency mining has driven the prices of GPUs from “inflated” to “utterly absurd.” In fact, prices are so high, they’re actually higher, in some cases, than we’d expect a person to spend on an entire computer. But some of the comments were fascinating. https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/262493-gpu-prices-skyrocket-breaking-entire-diy-pc-market?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ziffdavis%2Fextremetech+(Extremetech) N99WB

OK I've searched and searched and quite frankly I've got info overload so I'm in dire need of advice. First of all, I'm an instrument rated Private Pilot and not looking to game or sim VFR flights. What I am looking for is a sim to use to augment, but not replace, the IFR currency and proficiency training that I do in my own plane. So here's the wish list: -- 2-screen setup. The main screen would be a forward out the cockpit view, and the second would be dedicated to the instrument panel -- Has an add-on available to include a Garmin G500/600 with a GTN 650 in the panel (this combo most closely emulates what I have in the real world which is a 2-screen Garmin…

Last year I bought a super computer from Jetline Systems. They did such an awesome job on the build and installing P3DV3, GSX, FSUIPC, ORBX, Fly Tampa airports, FSDT and Imaginesim airports etc.and all the PMDG planes. Then P3dV4 comes out- really! Now I am fuming. I installed the new P3Dv4 on my computer and added in the FlyTampa airports. Adding the in all the remaining programs seemed daunting to me, so I contacted Jetline Systems. They remoted into my computer and worked a few hours to upload all the necessary scenery for me. NOTE: FSUIPC5.122 needs P3dV4.1 in order to work. (if you have 4.0 you'll get blank screen). So they had to run the update to V4.1…

Flew into the Grand Canyon (KGCN) this afternoon and found three FedEx and one DHL 727s parked there. Are they building a Trump Tower or something there? I would think all they would need was a Cessna Caravan feeder to service a general aviation airport for a national park. I have the Williams-Grand Canyon route on my train simulator for the tourist train that makes the daily run. Maybe I'll fire it up and see if a 100 car container train is wending it's way up the tracks. I think My Traffic experiences cargo aircraft overkill. Noel

Flight Sim World is entering its second phase of development, and to celebrate its release, we've teamed up with Jetline Systems for a giveaway over at PC Gamer. There's an exciting prize up for grabs, a Jetline Systems Gravity GT2 Gaming PC worth over $2,500. The PC comes with a copy of Flight Sim World, and more than enough power to play it: an Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K CPU and an 8GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. It will go to one lucky winner who fills out the form on the PC Gamer Website.

With XP11 adding native VR, every major FS on the market currently has a native implementation of this technology (P3D, XP, Aerofly FSII, DCS, IL2, etc.). Is VR coming to FSW? I would gladly give this sim a shot, but I cannot fly using the monitor anymore. Thanks

- Cross Posted from Steam - Hello everyone, It’s an exciting day for Flight Sim World as we launch Update 16, which features a number of avionic fixes, adjustments to the missions (based on your feedback), the introduction of two new variations of the Super Cub (who’s ready for an amphibious landing) and much more. Update 16 is also the first update in the second stage of the development of Flight Sim World, igniting the spark that will bring about Phase 2. We’ve got some exciting announcements to make about our plans for Phase 2, but those are better handled by executive producer, Stephen Hood (and he has done so here). There are some exciting announcements w…

I've been watching BBC's Blue Planet II and this evening they were showcasing Antarctica. I was somewhat surprised when I saw the instrumented aircraft they are using to measure ice thickness on the continent is a DC-3. A Basler turbo conversion, but an 80 year old DC-3 non-the-less. The old Gooney Bird has to be one of the most significant airplanes of all times. They were the foundation bricks for the bringing the airline industry out of diapers and into long pants. Trash haulers in WW2 and Korea and gunships in Vietnam. They're still flying in many parts of the world. When I got out of boot camp in San Diego in 1951 I flew home on leave to San Franc…
