I barely recall my first flight. It was the summer of 1939. We were staying at my father's family farm in Michigan. I was five and a half years old. I have vague recollections of it but mostly rely on what my mom told me. A barnstormer came to town (Elberta Michigan) in a three engine airplane so I assume it was a For Trimotor. He was giving rides. I recall the wicker seats and other people sitting in the plane. But my first real encounter with an airplane came in 1946. We were living in San Francisco and I was 12 years old. Van Ness Avenue was auto row. All the car dealers were located there. It was just a few blocks from our house and after scho…

Hi, Recently I've started learning and using the HGS in the 737. Something that I've noticed, is that whenever I set up both ILS courses/freq. regardless of what I've but in the MODE and STBY in the HGS settings, it seems to always automatically go in to IMC AIII as soon as I intercept the APP. Having said that, my question(s) are: Is it suppose to be this way? Also, as a bit of a follow up question, is it common to set up BOTH ILS courses/freq. during a normal CAT I landing in real life? Thanks in advance! LevelMind

I’m switching careers to programming soon and I’m looking outside the box for ideas to look up for. The pay doesn’t matter as long as it meets the average pay for junior programmers. This really is just a curiosity question.

I'm an avid military flight-simmer, was into FS2004 and FSX some years ago. I'm thinking of getting back into it but have many questions, mostly about performance. Turns out I still have my old FSX install. So heres what I currently have: AMD Phenom II X4 965 overclocked to 3.8 ghz 8 GB RAM Geforce GTX 1050 ti 4 GB Thrustmaster Flight Stick X FSX acceleration Orbx terrain some carendo addon planes I have no issue running any military flight sims, DCS, Falcon BMS, IL-2 Sturmovik etc. My issue is FSX still runs pretty poorly. With a stock plane in a low traffic airport, I can average about 30 FPS. If I use an addon plane and/or goto …

Hello all, I have just purchased A2A 3d lights redux for fs2004 which I downloaded and installed. I now find that despite a blurb on their sight (info regarding 3dlights redux) that it installs into all aircraft, that the install complete info tells me it is installed into my default aircraft. I do not think I have used a default aircraft in the last ten years so this is a complete waste to me. I could then find no instructions in the zip download so I headed back to the site and reaffirmed that my download was indeed installable into all my aircraft. I could not, however find any further information regarding how to do so. So I loaded up my favorite IFly 737 …

Hi, I was wondering what the usual, and optimal/expected duct pressure should be before an engine start in the B737NG. I've read somewhere that the minimum required is 30psi, which seems to be the case during a crossbleed start, however, every time I start my engines (the normal way, without ground air, or x-bleed), I tend to get around 18psi. Now, this is fully function and I'm always able to start. But hence my question, is it supposed to be that low? And in that case, why does it seems like it is expected to achieve 30psi duct pressure? Thanks in advance!

Just saw Bombardier won its case. No news stories yet as it just happened but I am expecting stories very soon about what happened. They have won and looks like Delta will get it's order. EDIT: From what I have the US International Trade Commission rejected the complaint from Boeing by 4 - 0. This was very unexpected. Here is the first news story: http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/bombardier-boeing-tariffs-1.4505114

Hey, I've been having serious issues with the download speeds at PC Aviator US. My internet speed is 10mb and regularly download at 1,5mbps at other vendors. But with PC Aviator I can barely get to 100kb/s. Funny thing though, if I download several addons at once, I can pile up to 1Mbps in total, but the addons will top up to 100kbps each. I've tried to contact them by email regarding this but no response. I wonder if it's only me or anybody else having the same problem. This has been dragging on for several months now.

Hello, Let's face it, I have enormous faith that DTG will come up with a final version that might just blow our minds! But until then, why does the scenery look so bad, including trees, clouds(I know True Sky is involved), general anti-aliasing and so on....I keep trying it now and then, but, well, you know. Mike

What instances are there of airports in same country having different ICAO first letter? For one Alaska and Hawaii come to mind where code starts with P than K. Any particular reason for this, were they afraid of running out of codes?

I'm running FSX:SE right now and am happy enough with it, but I'm also thinking about the future, and a move to 64-bit simming. Given the cost of moving to P3D, I'm happy to take my time and keep an eye on FSW as it matures, but X-Plane 11 is also nudging its way into my consciousness. I downloaded the demo today and after a couple of quick flights I have to say I'm impressed, and while I don't intended to give up my FSX:SE anytime soon, I'm considering that a gradual phasing-in of X-Plane is something worth thinking about. To assist my cogitations I'd like to hear from X-Plane pilots about the topics below. I'd particularly to hear from ex-FSX pilots, pilots who fly…

Hi, I was wondering if the B737 FCOM, or anywhere else for that matter, includes a list with which items are powered by AC power, and which items are powered by DC power, since a quick google search found nothing. Hence, I'd be more than happy if anyone could give me a reference, or source, for where this can be found. Thanks in advance, LevelMind
