Albeit an unusual question, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this: In Flight Simulation (any flight sim platform), is my aircraft moving above the terrain, or is the terrain moving below my aircraft? Thank you

First up, GE announces that it's first engine upgrade for the 747-8 is ready, called the GEnx-2B The upgrade involves improvements to four areas in the core of the engine, including the fuel nozzles and the second generation of the twin-annular, pre-swirl (TAPS II) combustor, the company says. The durability upgrades also target the first stage of the high-pressure turbine, with improvements to the blades and the nozzles of the dual-rotor engine. “The improvements will increase time on wing for the engine,” GE says. DTG CRYSS: "Our development team have been working on something a little extra from your current Flight Sim World experience and we’d love to hear what you think! Today, the beginnings of a career mode have been released onto a beta branch which is freely accessible for everyone who owns Flight Sim World. This isn’t a fully-fledged feature just yet, but we are laying the foundations for future work as part of getting IFR functionality and our first jet into the sim." http://steamcommunity.com/games/389280/announcements/detail/1671272740015319595

In retirement I have been really enjoying my flight sims. Flew my Citation 550 in P3D out of SFO to Reno at Flight Level 290. I love that route of flight, as it goes over water, hills, farmland, alpine mountains and finally desert. For me flying is completely changing the scenery from where you are to where you will be. Another favorite route is from the deserts of Arizona to the lush greenery of the south. Just the change of scenery that only flying a distance can bring. When I flew to London last year I was amazed as we took off out of Phoenix, over the desert mountains, then over the Rockies, then over the upper Prairie states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, into Ont…

When I looked at the latest releases on the first page of the SimMarket website yesterday, my first thought was the German vendor had diversified into selling domestic appliances! But Machine Washing Design - UKCC 2012-2014 FSX P3D is actually scenery for an airport in Donetsk, Ukraine! I am puzzled though as to how this developer chose their brand name? I know there have been a lot of new developers springing up over the last couple of years but surely they can't have used up all the brand names that might suggest some connection with aviation!? Hi, I am trying to figure out how to close my Internet. I want to block every internet site, so make it impossible to access any online sites. But still want to use the connection to fly online at the VATSIM network. Is that technically possible? It actually has to hasn't it?

Hi, which software do you use to protect your computer? I personally fall back on freeware tools, but my experience is, that these are limited useable for flight sim. Most addon developers expect you to exclude files are folders, or deactivate during installation. Freeware tools doesn't support this feature in the limited version. Is there freeware alternative, or do I need to switch to an payware addon? When yes, which one is not too expensive but still recommendable?

I had a long and meandering path towards graduation, which will either happen in the fall or spring depending on what classes I can get. I didn't even know I was that close. The time it took mostly due to me not having much funding made me feel like it would go on forever. I want to do something fun to mark the occasion. I'm not much of a drinker sadly.

Something I have wondered about for months and interested to know if others have discussed: Just about every aircraft released for the various flight simulators (Prepar3D, FSX, etc) seem to include pilots and even co-pilots that are observable in exterior views. I've noticed that just about every one of the figures is modeled as a Caucasian male. Even Carenado (which, I believe is located in South America) seems to feature white guys. Personally, I don't have a big problem with since I am a white guy and its not hard for me to imagine myself flying the plane. However, with all the realism that goes into the design and production of these aircraft, surely modeling the dive…

Yesterday I committed heresy. I reinstalled FS9. Why would I do such a thing you ask? When I was a preteen I was hooked on railroads. I still am. I eschew modern air travel for Amtrak these days. But I grew up during the transition from steam to diesel. It was wonderful. My brother and I would go to the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street and ride the ferry across the bay to the Oakland Mole where all the transcontinental trains would arrive and depart. The colorful liveries of the Union Pacific, Southern Pacific and Western Pacific. And the air was filled with the pleasant aroma of diesel fumes mixed with steam. It was a young boy's Nir…

We ordered a pizza to watch a movie at home. Never again. Here's what happened. Hello! Is this Gordon's Pizza? No sir, it's Google Pizza. I must have dialed a wrong number. Sorry. No sir, Google bought Gordon’s Pizza last month. OK. I'd like to order a pizza. Do you want your usual, sir? My usual? You know me? According to our caller ID data, the last 12 times you called you ordered an extra-large pizza with cheese, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms on a thick crust. OK! That’s what I want. May I suggest that this time you order a pizza with ricotta, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and olives on a whole wheat gluten free thin c…

Hello! Me again, I know Navigraph does some of this, but is there a utility for P3D that will update all frequencies? Ex. ATIS, TWR, GND, CTR, as well as VOR's NDB's and ILS's? It would be so nice to have the ability to dial the frequency on the real world charts and have them work. Over the years I've learned to ignore real world frequencies and check with the P3D map unless really in a pinch.

I recently changed my i4790k from 8 gig of RAM to 16. I was thinking of giving away the memory on a local freecycle, but suddenly remembered my wife's AMD computer only had 4 gig of memory. So I was able to pop it in and she's off and running. Happy unexpected birthday present!
