I served in the Canadian Military, long before PC... no political comments necessary, this guy really made me “humoursly” remember my service and I am still able to laugh at it: https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/entertainment/full-metal-jacket-sergeant-r-lee-ermey-dies-at-74-1.3886204

Hello all. As the dreaded day approaches when we must "give unto Caesar," I'm curious to know if anyone has a perspective on this issue...is there a precedent for professional pilots to deduct the costs associated with flight simulation? Can't seem to find anything expressly addressing this either through a web search, looking through the IRS's publications or searching for "tax deduction" on AvSim. Any thoughts anyone? And thanks in advance for weighing in!

Crews in Los Angeles County were fighting a brush fire near railroad tracks last Thursday when someone spotted an approaching Metrolink train. Not having the appropriate radio frequencies, an LA County Fire helicopter moved to flag down the passenger train before it drove into crews working on the tracks. I've been happily buying addons here for over 10 years, Suddenly they have no record of my account, To add insult to injury they will only talk to you via their ticket system but you can't unless you have a valid account. Hello! What is their problem? I have over 70 purchases here. Any clues? Has this happened to anyone else? Clayton

I have (Must Have!) an Ad-Blocker on my computer. Else, when trying to download a file on some web pages, ads block the download. I have tried to add Avsim to my "White Pages", but that does not seem to keep from blocking ads from Avsim. Anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi guys, Probably my first post here, though I've been a member for quite a while now. I was wondering these days what is the long term trend for online flight simulation... For the experienced flight simmers, do you believe that traffic is increasing, decreasing or relatively stable in the long run? I remember playing on IVAO in the past and the amount of flights/controllers was higher than what I am seeing nowadays, is my perception correct?

Question for those who are familiar with real-world procedures: I know that for many obvious reasons pilots prefer to hand fly approaches, but I was wondering today if a pilot can choose to do an autoland (assuming the plane and crew are rated appropriately) just because they want to? Also are there any airlines out there that use autoland more frequently? I was watching the JustPlanes Air Canada 777 video earlier and it seems like either they use autoland as their default or that one Captain just really liked to autoland.

Hi guys I don't want this to turn into a flame war but over the last month or two I've been using XPlane for most of my simming and this is why... I only started simming in 2015 with FSX Steam Edition and converted over to P3Dv4 since its release. Spent thousands on aircraft, addon's, sceneryetc. I guess since the switch over to v4 I was expecting more from the sim. Performance for me wasn't increased that much more from FSX. Irritatingly P3D stutters more then FSX ever did with the same CPU (i7 4790k) but an upgrade from a 970 to a 1070, particularly coming into payware scenery when the airport and custom autogen loads into view. Other niggles with shadows…

Would it be the most in terms of offering fidelity, expansiveness and content for any kind of consumer level simulator in general or are there others that have the same extent of completeness and depth/coverage to what they simulate?

So, one of the things I love about living in the age of the internet, is that sitting comfortably in my home I can go on random "Deep-dives" for information that sparks my interest. Once upon a time, that required a trip to the library, and my local branches soon knew me well from my constant visits and proclivity to be found in odd, dim corners of the library as a kid, sitting on the floor with my daily trove and reading away about the moon landing or world war two battle tactics or.....whatever. Neeeeeeeeeeerdddddddd!!!!!!! Now my dogs get to watch as I wander the web instead, pretty much absorbing everything. Today's obsession after being awestruck by the Goo…

I hope this isn't an omen for this year's Sun N Fun convention. http://www.theledger.com/news/20180410/plane-flips-at-sun-n-fun-in-lakeland-pilot-ok And to top this off it rained all day today and the crowds were nonexistent.

I was looking at Flight Radar 24 on my phone today and saw an Air China make a left turn over Pennsylvania and headed to Newark instead of KIAD. https://flightaware.com/live/findflight?origin=ZBAA&destination=KIAD The detail page appears to show it landed. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/CCA817/history/20180405/0525Z/ZBAA/KIAD I was just curious how I might get more information about why it changed direction. This shows the flight path https://flightaware.com/live/flight/CCA817/history/20180404/0525Z/ZBAA/KIAD

Its been a long time since I have been able to update the progress of my little pet project. First, thank you all for your patience in waiting for this aircraft! Soon, I will have lots to announce with this fun little peace of kit! For now, some eye candy. Please note that the textures are NOT final and many things are left to do on it (like animate the gauges), but this WILL give you an idea of the detail to expect, and what PBR shaders can bring to flight simming. More to come, including a video of the FIRST FLIGHT!

A Cessna 150 rear ended a Cessna 525 at the Marion, Indiana airport on April 3, 2018. Apparently the C525 had just landed and was practically stopped when the C150 attempted to take off. Evidently it was a failure to maintain situational awareness. It is tragic that two firefighters in the C150 were killed in the accident. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/two-planes-collide-on-runway-marion-indiana-airport-firefighters-killed/
