They announced this morning that FSW has been discontinued. No surprise to me actually, DTG was in no way equipped to handle a product as immense as this.

  3. And seems like it will be revolutionary and have many uses. One of the things that immediately occured to me was how something like this might have reacted to the airliner window incident that occured recently..... So many amazing advances happening all around us. Daily, science fiction becomes real, and we do things our ancestors could only ascribe to magic. Sometimes it's good to take a second and go "Wow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DduO1fNzV4w

  4. Lockheed Martin has the rights to ESP for business and DTG has the rights for consumers. I wonder if DTG plans to keep the rights to keep milking FSX, or if they want to offload their flight sim business and give someone else a look at the codebase and rights.

This is a morbid curiosity question more than anything. I was recently looking around Sky Vector and noticed that there are two areas of airspace (XX02 and XX04, also labeled as No FIR and No FIR One respectively) that are labeled as having no FIRs. I looked on the ICAO FIR map and these areas are also unlabeled. One of them is just north of Norway and Sweden (XX02, pictures below) and the other is in the South Pacific Ocean just west of the Galápagos Islands. The only thing I could find after about an hour of searching online was from the Wikipedia list of Area Control Centers, which listed them as Nil. 1 (XX04) and Nil. 2 (XX02). I was just wondering if anybody had any …

I was looking at the Realworld Scenery PATK Talkeetna, and I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the P3D v4 version and the FSX - P3D v3 version of the scenery. Does the P3D v4 version include dynamic lighting?? Thanks

Just recently I was censored, as I have been several times. I do not resent it. If you post as often as I do, or even a little bit, sometimes you can step on toes either deliberately, unconsciously, or a mix of the two. Simply put, without someone to reach out and touch you, to redirect you to the right path which is our hobby, it is easy to get lost in any form of social media. I am a member on Facebook which is largely unmoderated. Thus I restrict my friendships there and have clamped down on those who send me friend requests there. I am restricting my discourse there more and more because there are just some that will egg you on and cause one to lose their temper…

Anyone else feel airbus cockpits have much more outside looking area than the boeing ones? On the downside the displays seem more difficult to read on the airbus, perhaps due to the use of green fonts.

  10. Folks, Good day! Thought I would make a quick post, as I did not see a dedicated Airbus forum. I'm currently a captain on the A320 for a US based airline, and a long time member/lurker on Avsim (14 years). My guess is there may be more than a few fellow Airbus guys on the forum, and thought it may be helpful to create an Airbus thread to share knowledge, answer questions, etc as it relates to the SIM or real-world operations. As a side note, flying the Airbus is a family thing, as my wife is an FO on the 320 as well, and yes, do to some silliness with scheduling, I have been her captain before, although she is most certainly the captain at home! 🙂 Anyway, look f…

  12. So I have an annual Navigraph subscription and here lately I have been having a lot of issues with connectivity and reliability of their desktop chart's application. I frequently hangs when trying to download approach plates for a new destination and often disconnects. Moreover it frequently asks me to re enter my username and password where it hasn't in the past and worse sometimes denies me access after disconnecting for no apparent reason? Wondering if anyone else has been experiencing similar circumstances? It's been happening now for a couple of weeks.

Our airport here in Roswell is a graveyard for such aircraft. One of our three runways was shut down several years ago to make additional storage space for these aircraft. We have a company that scavenges reuseable parts and resells them Back when I was a young man in my 60s and still doing a lot of hiking and backpacking I got flare/red smoke device from them to carry with me …

Sorry, I am on day 3 of food poisoning, so I am a little fuzzy, but now is as good as ever. 1st, I admit fully that I fly FS9, yes, I mainly use the PMDG7376-7-- I bought years ago. I use it because i can maintain the AIREC files. I also use it because i have nearly every single free download that came out for FS9. With all the modifications it looks nice and flies good. Only big issue is a while ago FS9 STOPPED auto logging my flights, I tried the fixes I found but now luck so I manuals made a log books and fill it out by hand. NOW I did run out and buy FSX, then sold it off, and then later bought FSX GOLD with SP2, still it was disappointing, yet I continued to col…

I own FSW, and was a shock news FSW became another failure from Flight School, don't worry, if you keep developing software, someday, you will get an idea and who knows you'll be success in the future. At first their intention was great, but lack of DLC and addons,, users are focus on X-plane and p3d. If I were to develop another software, I would develop a software platform based on compatible with FSX addons. If you want to keep alive this software, why don't you release SDK for free for existing users? who knows?

Hi! I want to do something special and fun to do for my husband’s upcoming bday in June. To say he’s obsessed with aviation is putting it lightly. He holds a PPL and works in the Private Jet industry. I’d love to take him someplace for lunch plane spotting with our 2yo. Any suggestions around KHPN? An hours drive preferred. Thanks! 21. I saw this float across my Facebook feed and needed to share it. Singapore Changi airport is opening a new terminal called "Jewel" next year, and it will be a destination unto itself. Less of a terminal and more of a development within the airport itself, Jewel will feature "...a 14,000 square-foot Canopy Park complete with gardens, walking trails, restaurants, and even an indoor waterfall. The park is planned to be a lush, green space, with about 1400 trees and palms, and one of the largest collections of indoor plants in the country. But plants aren't all there is to it. Sky Nets, Canopy Mazes, and yes, even Discovery Slides are set to be part of lifestyle leisure attra…

So I went to the file library, searched for "piper_pa24-400.zip" I saw it, clicked download, it asked me to log in. I forgot my account information so I clicked on the forgot account information. I got the email and went back to the library and signed in. The login worked fine, but when I go back to the library and do a search for "piper_pa24-400.zip" (it was not a typo it was copied and pasted both times) it does not find anything. Even when I signed back out it does not find it. Does anyone else find anything when searching "piper_pa24-400.zip"? Is this just me or is it everyone? This is really a mystery to me.... Thank you very much. Caleb

I know this subject has been discussed a few times, but I'm curious if opinions have changed with FSW being discontinued. Is the cost to develop a flight sim becoming to high for our community? Is our community aging and shrinking? Are there enough new people interested? Will another home PC flight simulation developer quit in the near future? Basically, is our hobby doomed in the long run? I'm not trying to sound like chicken little, but I think FSW ending is a significant indicator.
