I have watched a lot of Plane Spotting videos lately, in the hope I can improve my Flight Sim performance which is hit and miss, at best. I have observed that most Pilots delay landing the nose until quite late in the process of coming back to Earth. All the Pilots of the really ' big iron ', A380's, 787's, 777's, everything employ this technique. Why do Professional Pilots hold the nose aloft for so long? Jon

I have two computers that almost the same. When my old computer broke last summer I took it in to get it fixed. The motherboard and CPU were blown. I asked my computer guy to replace them. He did but he had a hard time getting it to work with Windows 7 and it still had things wrong with it so I left it there and bought a new one, an Alienware Aurora from Dell. After a coule of weeks he called me up and said all the problems were solved and did I still want it. He put about 1200 bucks in it including an MSI Enthusiast gaming motherboard. The 100TB SSD that was in it was still working fine but when he installed Windows 10 to get it running all the programs w…

I don't know how I feel about wingsuits, nowadays. At first, I thought they were the coolest things ever, but as the years have gone by and the deaths mounted, I watch wingsuit videos with a combination of near-vertigo and awed appreciation of the sheer guts on display, combined with the same spike of semi-dread one feels when spotting an impending accident just a second too late to yell a warning. I would never want to impinge on people's rights to do these things, at the same time as I wonder if some "sports" are simply too dangerous.

I think about getting the FSLabs Concorde (for FSX, I know about the maybe comming new version in P3D, but I keep using FSX for the near future). I use FSX boxed with a ton of addons like ORBX and tools like Active Sky and Steves DX10 Fixer. I can run the FSLabs A320 in a nice and smooth state. If you own the concorde - is it running well on a modern system on FSX on WIN 10? Is it worth the money and work to get used to it? Would you recommend it to a Flightsim-bro?

I noticed when hunting for a Python job that Boeing uses it. Sadly I do not have enough years experience for the job and I am also not a senior programmer, otherwise I would have jumped at it. I know that Python is used a lot in web work, and in higher mathematics. So I assume it's calculating really complex equations? Or is it something else entirely?

My old High School is just north of where this incident has happened. Yonge and Finch is a major hub where the busiest subway line ends and connects to a major bus terminal so you can connect to buses to the suburbs. Toronto has just come out of a much colder then normal winter and the most recent snow storm was just last week, so this day was the first day of spring sunshine that was finally melting all the snow away. A day like that has a lot of meaning as after months of winter the feel of the sun is extremely positive and many people go outside to enjoy it. Toronto is always a very positive vibe on the first sunshine in the spring and the people deserve it. The …

This plane was taken on a grass field in or near Metz France associated with RCAF No1 Fighter Wing. It is a screenshot from my fathers old 8mm movie. Dad died recently and I'm working to put the pieces together of his military life. Gratefully, Bryan Wallis

What drives people to behave like this? If alcohol is involved (the article doesn't say) maybe it's time to consider banning alcohol on flights as well as airports just as smoking was. She was sitting next to a US Air Marshal. Was she a prisoner being escorted by the marshals? Again the article doesn't say. However. it states the air marshal escorted her to the bathroom multiple times. Passenger assaults air marshal

Hi. I was planning on getting a moving map program, such as LittleNavMap,on a laptop to run along with my sim. Now I am wondering...if I'm using a GTN750 or similar, is there any real need for a separate moving map program? Are the separate moving map programs mainly useful for vintage (or any) aircraft that just don't support a GTN device? Thanks, Jeff Smith

In 1984, when I bought my first computer, the "portable Commodore SX-64" with a built in five inch screen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_SX-64), LOL, I dreamed of what flight sims might become. I bought the computer at my oldest brother's urging for $500, he told me over and over again how important it was to learn computing. I did NOT want to become a computer nerd or video game Nut. But my brother insisted. I had just come home from a month long trip to Europe in 1984, which tanked my bank account leaving about $600 left over. I made the plunge, and bought the computer simply because of Sublogic's stencil graphic flightsim. As time went on I studied…

The FAA are restricting 787s powered by some variants of the Rolls Royce Trent engine to 140 minute ETOPS after RR stated that the issues with the stage 2 compressor blades are "more hazardous than they first understood" and they are doing a redesign of the stage 2 blades. Apparently if an engine failure occurred, the remaining engine would have to operate at maximum continuous thrust to maintain level flight and somewhat alarmingly the FAA stated that under these circumstances “If the remaining engine already had cracked IPC stage 2 blades, the likelihood of the remaining engine failing will further increase before a diversion can be safely completed”. Even a 140 minutes…

Feeling nostalgic? Was watching some ZZ Top videos and this link caught my eye: United Douglas DC-8 - "Chicago to Los Angeles" - 1963. Back when traveling by air was fun and passengers dressed up. My first trip was Weir Cook Airport - Indy to St. Petersburg, FL 1967 Eastern 727 Whisperjet. What more fun could an 8 year old have? Believe it or not I still have the "Sorry... this seat is occupied" card. United Douglas DC-8 - "Chicago to Los Angeles" - 1963 More Airliner Promo Films

I am considering a purchase of AirManager (https://www.siminnovations.com/) and it seems kind of expensive to me and I do not plan to make good use of all of its features, and I was wondering if anyone has seen or knows if AirManager ever goes on sale for a discounted price anywhere. Thanks in advance. Caleb
