Betty was out shopping Saturday when her phone rang. I answered it and it was my youngest daughter. She told me UPS would be delivering the box on Monday. I asked her what box? She said, "Mom's birthday present." So I said I'll be watching for it. I can never remember these things. Which day is her birthday and how old is she going to be? I get in my car and drive to the bank and open the safe deposit box and find her birth certificate. It's Feb 25 and she's going to be 80. Next stop Albertsons to get a card and a box of candy. After she went to bed Saturday night I got out the box and signed the card and put it on the coffee table. She's aways…

Hi all - interested to know what your strategy is for evaluating new airport scenery (just purchased FlyTampa's KBOS and approaching from a flight out of KACK). Do you fly to or from the new airport? As I said, just want to see the different evaluation techniques.

*While it is more specific of the "tittle" mentioned in this message tittle, I thought I would like to share my thoughts about Condor Soaring version 2, released this week. All I can say is that I think I'll finally be able to get my hands on a superb soaring flight simulator, with the exact requisites I ever wished for: .) Being an updated, graphically and weather model wise, version of the initial Condorsoaring; .) Being also updated - fine tuned - in terms of flight dynamics, and including in it's default release a collection of excellent representatives of various classes of gliders, with a particular "love" for that Blanik, one of the very 1st "modern" gli…

Has anyone seen any rainy/stormy conditions with dark clouds in Dynamic weather v1? All of my flights seem to have somewhere between broken and clear sky and Ive only seen two levels of clouds one time. The clouds look good but I miss the rain and darker clouds.

I currently have REX Texture Direct w/ Soft Clouds, and am considering a purchase of the newly released REX Sky Force 3D. I wanted to ask, if anyone has an opinion as to how much better the clouds are in Sky Force than in Texture Direct, and if it's worth buying Sky Force if I already have Texture Direct. Also, does anyone know if REX Texture Direct works with Sky Force at all, such as Sky Force using some of the Texture Direct sky textures? Or does Sky Force completely override the Texture Direct sky textures? Thanks very much in advance.

I am a long term sim flyer from FS98 days onward. My main sim is FSX-SE. I have about 22 hours in FSW (and I'd completed all of Flight School before that). I really think FSW is very promising and I am trying to get to grips with it .... but I am finding it a deeply frustrating experience because of the lack of hardware control. These are some of my issues: 1. I just tried the Kahului Air first lesson but failed because I was faffing about so long trying to fly the plane and tune the radios in cockpit with the mouse at the same time that FSW took over and landed the plane. I have both GoFlight and VRInsight radio modules but they don't work with FSW. 2.…

At airports with intersecting runways, I'm guessing here, but I think only one runway would be in use at a time, based on wind direction. I'm talking smaller airports, not airports the size of LAX. I was given the instruction to "enter left downwind traffic" or something to that affect. I believe that means all of my turns are to be to the left, and to enter the pattern on the downwind side of the pattern. I got hung up on the fact this airport has intersecting runways. When picturing the rectangular traffic pattern around the runway I'm to be landing on, in order to make the proper entry, I should, more or less ignore the other intersecting runway. When I say i…

Hi Folks, Just a heads up to a great Open Source - FREE - tool I've been using for the past few weeks - it finds, displays, and organizes far more material spattered around your hard drive and registry than I never knew about or that the standard Windows uninstaller will show you... Bloatware - watch out... Cleaned up my machines very nicely and even cleared some stuck registry entries I've had for years... It's got excellent reviews over on Source Forge... If you want to clean up your sim machine - this tool really helps... Just my two cents worth... Bulk C r a p Uninstaller *** Oh - C'mon mods - that's the name of the program - the censoring process mangl…

Now that got your attention, didn't it? It's quite true, though. Aviation is boring. It promises, and works very hard to deliver, safe, predictable results - the minimum fuel used and the minimum gin spilled, as airline types put it. Aircraft older, and in some cases better qualified, than their pilots take off, fly to somewhere and land on it, untouched by human hand except possibly to dial another number into the autopilot. And we seem happy to simulate this safe but uneventful state of affairs. Of course there are those who simulate fast jets and air combat - often unsuccessfully, in my view, as the lack of inertial feedback is far more obvious if one indulge…

Remember the era of the benchmark? Back when Mad Onion (now Futuremark) came out with those graphics demos that forced us to considering upgrading every year? Well, prepare to relive that with the Square Enix's demo for Final Fantasy XV, which pretty much throws 4K and every single last Nvidia special effect in the book at your computer and dares it to survive. Got a new system you want to test? Feeling competitive? This is the benchmark, and at the end you will be scored against nationwide listings. This is causing quite a stir on the web right now, with many saying either that it's absolutely impossible to run, or that their systems are eating it alive. …

I'm a collector. I want it all. I want everything that's available installed in my FSX_se. So much that it was taking 12 minutes for my flight simulator to come up when I clicked on the desktop icon. My simulator bypasses the startup screen and I load a scenario that puts my Kodiak in a parking spot at my favorite GA airport (Gnoss Field KDVO) ready to get in and start her up. I'd start the simulator and then load the breakfast dishes into the dish washer, make the beds, and vacuum the living room. By then the simulator would almost be ready to start flying. I had every Orbx scenery plus many addons and almost 100 aircraft loaded in the airplanes folder. …

Hello Can anyone tell me how many days a week an aircraft can fly on relatively short trips before requiring a day’s maintenance? I am referring to something the size of an Airbus A321 operating in Europe. I understand some companies often do 3 trips a day. Thank you. Corrie
