The Old Man's Lament by Noel Sivertson I USTA...two words I say a lot these days. I walked a mile this morning but I USTA run three. But the years catch up with ya. Not a yongster in my 50s anymore, not sturdy like a tree. And Old Man Time just laughs at me and says, "I gotcha!" I USTA gulp down a 16 ounce steak, an a stuffed potato treat. But the years catch up with ya. I can still chew up half that much with my remaining natural teeth. And Old Man Time just laughs at me and says, "I gotcha!" I USTA walk the wilderness, with a pack on my back. But the years catch up with ya. I can still walk across the parkng lot toting a grocery sack.…

  3. Perhaps it's not the best practice in terms of realism, but let's be honest; when flying in cruise we often tab out the game and watch Netflix, make dinner or wash some clothes. I bet most of you don't fancy ticking the option in the flight sim to hear sounds even when tabbed out, so you can engine roars on top of Netflix. So when will you know something fails? When you come back and your flight has respawned? As a small side project I've now created PilotWatch, it's a small program which communicates with the flight sim, and PMDG airplanes, to monitor for warnings on your flight. PilotWatch is meant to be activated once you go AFK, else you'll probably get spam…

  5. It's a though that strikes me every time I see a landing... think what you could do with a wheel hub motor: Before landing, spin the wheels up to touchdown speed, and see all the rubber you save compared with 0-140kt in one wheel revolution. After landing, use regenerative braking and see all the brake disk material you save, while charging up a battery or ultracapacitor. Taxiing in, you cut those expensive big engines and use the electric motors, drawing on all that power you stored a moment ago. Engines, tyres, brakes all last longer, and much less fuel. Does the airliner industry need an Elon Musk to wake it up??

Or is it a soft spot only for aviation? Would you jump? Or walk past? For me, I know the same thing that makes me still interested in games (and aviation as well, which is just a type of game to me) Would definitely make me jump! But how many of us would? Is the child still in there?

Hello All, I was trying to contact PMDG but its led me here. I have recently gotten back into P3D however my email during this period has been hacked and thus I cannot access the email, when trying to log in to the PMDG Dashboard to retrieve my products it seems that my Password needs to be Validated by going onto my email and following a link however I can't do that and when I try to reset it, it make sure that it sends an email to my hacked email about it. I can't change it and I know the password but don't know what to do cause now I can't access my PMDG 738 P3D. Please Help any suggestion is appreciated Thanks Joe

In P3D it is always the ground controller which handles holding off of runways of taxiing aircraft when the runway is occupied with an arrival or departure. Is this the norm IRL as well at the airports, or are aircraft asked to contact tower controlling the runway?

Yes, it's me again lol. I've narrowed down my final choices to these two aircraft. I know it is somewhat comparing apples to oranges one being turbo prop, one being a older jet. In terms of overall quality, immersion, documentation, systems depth, etc - which would you consider purchasing over the other? Both of these planes fit into my regional airports that I like to fly in. The Q400 and basically MD-82 are a substitute for the CRJ, there was/is still just too much controversy of the product for me to be comfortable putting my money behind it.

Well, not 100% true because I actually used and tried it this way, although I never though about it being probably the best way to use an airliner simulation for someone with a low end rig and or a single monitor ( although two monitor would be an option too, one for specific pan windows and the other just for the external view ). I was browsing YouTube on my daily poll for simulation best moments and found this interesting video, recorded I believe with the PMDG 737. It's really the most effective way, specially in the absence of a full mockup / home cockpit... The PFD / NDs / MFDs / etc... are made wide enough to facilitate their reading, instead of looking at a dw…

  17. Hi, On most LIDO charts, there tends to be a runway threshold, or TDZ, elevation shown. For example, in EGLL, runway 09R it says: 79 / 3hPa (assumingly indicating runway threshold height) So my question is, what does the Pressure after the elevation mean? Does this mean it Changes with 3ft every hPa change? So, let's say if you're entering the TDZ elevation in to your Head-up System, should you enter an elevation of 79ft Always, or correct it based on the Pressure difference? Thanks.

https://www.es.com/about/ I read a book about this company, they made amazing sims back in the days of Sublogic/Microsoft flightsims. They made their sims on mega computers, sims that match what we run on our desktops today with Xplane11, P3DV4, etc.... which shows how powerful desktops have become. Their sims go way back when in the days of Huey Lewis and the News and Back to the Future (I knew Huey thru my hotel profession, met him many times, he was a member of my timeshare resort somewhere in California, won't say where because he still goes there, *hotelier honor code*). Take a peak or google/wiki who they are. Just enjoying my retirement and having …

Dovetail has made many of the Mission packs available for free as Cryss said would be the case. I recommend getting them and if you don't have the Just Fight Arrow yet, it's on sale and very well worth the price. A little side rant regarding Avsim. I think it's a little disrespectful to have moved the forum down to near the bottom a few days ago while FSW is still available. It would have been a little more courteous to FSW users to leave it where it was until it finally stopped being available. I don't see the decision as a logical one, but rather a mean-hearted one. I'm sure those responsible will jump in and say it wasn't, but that's how I see it and I think they …

For years I have been a big supporter of flying Tubes, 727, 737, A321 and such but after a while it seemed to be a grind. I then when got bored jump to another VA thinking that would be the answer. Finally I took a break, about 2 years and now back into it only not the same. I always looked at General Aviation as a nice distraction but not the meat of my hobby. I found FSeconomy and tried a few flights and found I liked flying 300 lbs of shrimp 80 miles, or picking up 7 pax and flying them in a C208. This lead me to look at purchasing some planes, the bonus is I found that most are not overly bank breaking as apposed to the standard tube liner versions. I just …

Why is it that I need to use Nvidia Inspector to enable Sparse Grid supersampling? I have tried a number of AA/AF/Transparency AA combinations, but the only way that I can reduce shimmering to an acceptable level in P3D v3 is with 4x Sparse Grid supersampling enabled. The question is.....why is this not part of the Nvidia Control Panel options? The only transparency supersampling options that Nvidia Control Panel offers are the standard ones (up to 8x), but they are useless when compared to Sparse Grid supersampling.

When golfing and it begins to rain on the golf course, you can quit and go to the Pro Shop and ask for a "rain check" and play some other day. Now, in Hawaii, you can get a volcano ash or volcano lava check in the event a volcano erupts while you are playing - http://www.golf.com/tour-news/2018/05/16/crazy-golfers-brave-erupting-volcano-hawaii-sneak-round-photos Well, hopefully, since the definition has not been created yet, these guys got a refund! Some say golfers take the game too seriously. Me thinks they are right!
