Hello all. Has anyone got any news regarding Flight Deck X? A few weeks ago the site alledgedly broke and took a long while to fix. They came back with a couple of news aticles, then the news reverted to April and remained unchanged (no further news) Now is broken again. At least that is my take on the events as they unfolded. If anyone has any concrete news as opposed to sperculation and/or rumour can we please all be enlightened. I will be pretty sad if this is a permanent state of the nation as, whilst it was never the best of news sites, and, only released XPlane news, it did have a lot of potential. Regards to all Tony Chilcott

This sim has been capturing my browsing attention... A pity there's not much info available, specially feedback from user community... It runs on a Surface Pro, provided you opt for no out-of-windshield view... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sfkhNfVkq8

Sort of hard to see, but snapped this on my phone this morning from the forward hold of a SAS A321. That's the Rolling Stones' Boeing 767-300ER reg ZS-NEX on the remote stands at Manchester, what with them being in town tonight for a gig...

Hi all, In case anyone was wondering where I'd disappeared to, I had a bit of a rubbish time with lots of personal problems and then to make matters even more fun, I had to close my business down and was out of work too, so of course with no money coming in and many things to sort out, expenses such as computers, flight sims and internet connections go out of the window whilst other more pressing priorities rear their head and make life hard. But in case anyone is ever having similar problems and can't see an end in sight, don't give up; when one door closes, it seems another one opens. I've now got a job working on the airliners at Manchester Airport (had to do lots…

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/world-shortest-air-routes/index.html My shortest flight was Oakland to San Francisco on a Swearingen Metroliner back in the 80's, we took off to the North, turned back to the south, then lined up for 28R into SFO. It was quite a bit of fun. Second shortest was Burlington VT to Plattsburgh, NY over Lake Champlain, so of course they had to brief us for over-water flights. The briefing took longer than the flight. Shortest jet flight, in an American 767, was Zurich to Geneva, where we had beautiful views of the Alps off the port wing with the sun glinting off of the wing. From Geneva I hopped a train into the city, then changed tr…

Hi all, I am trying to obtain an airport timetable, showing who (airline), where (destination) and when (time of flight) for EGCN (Doncaster and Sheffield Airport) so I can create some realistic flight plans. Leeds Bradford does a timetable but I can only find live arrivals and departures on the Doncaster Sheffield website. Does anyone have a clue where I can get such information? Might have to look at Flight Radar if not.

Hi fellow MS Flight enthusiasts. The new hope we had in Dovetail's Flight Sim World is sadly over. As a casual MS Flight player, I'd been keeping my eye on this one since its announcement. Development has been canceled, however the game remains on Steam until May 25th, on sale for US$7.99 including all 1st party DLC. I picked up a copy and had a tinker. It's not better or worse than MS Flight, kind of a step to the side. It has only a few aircraft and whole world scenery. The few planes have quite a lot of cockpit detail and functionality. The world scenery is classic MS scenery with some modern enhancements for ground clutter and cloudy weather generati…

Hi all, Patiently awaiting for their Las Vegas scenery, I bought the only FlyTampa scenery I was missing: Kai Tak. What an amazing job FlytTampa has done, considering it was released 10 years ago! To my pleasant surprise, Navigraph is supporting since November the old procedures, so I can make a nice route in PFPX ! :)) The only thing I am missing, to recreate the historic flights, is real world flights. I am referring to flight numbers, aircraft types and if possible timetables. I joined the Historic Airlines Group, in the hope that I will find them there, but unfortunately I could find only one listed flight, from Tokyo. If anyone has a link of fli…

Do any of you have experience with "Fly the World" (www.ftw-sim.de)? I just became aware of it. It is run by some Germans and currently in beta. I am having problems translating the handbuch using Google Docs so I thought I would just ask. Can anyone explain the main differences between it and FSEconomy? Pros and Cons?

In retaliation to the 10% tarrif on foreign aluminium products being imposed by the US, I am self imposing 10% VIRTUAL surtax on aircraft add-ons containing software aluminium. Of course, this surtax shall be refunded to the purchaser (me), to offset the additional cost of the virtual aluminium contained in said product. Take that! 🤗

.. or a 400B for that matter The Alabeo C421 has just come out, sporting a rather unorthodox implementation of the Cessna 800B autopilot. Can anyone help me with two questions regarding the real world mode controller? 1. Can FD mode be engaged by pressing the FD key, or only by selecting a lateral mode like HDG or NAV? 2. Can the middle lower key be pressed to engage APR mode, or is it a display readout only? Any help would be much appreciated

As some of you may have read, this was my second year as a volunteer at the Dayton Hamvention as a courtesy shuttle golf cart driver. Aside from a couple of hours on Friday morning "shopping and gawking", I spent the rest of Friday, and all of Saturday and Sunday happily shuttling folks around. I got an email two days ago that a package had been sent via FedEx that would require a signature. I wondered what it might be since I hadn't ordered anything. I thought maybe I was being sent a tee-shirt or something, but the package weighed 2.5 pounds... When it was delivered this afternoon and you could have knocked me over with a feather! Apparently I won one of …

I'm not a pilot but I always wondered how and where do they check pilots for the license? Especially private pilots. Does it happen when landing at international airports? Do you need a license to fly around your private airfield?

Saw this on the internet a moment ago, urging all to power off your router for a few minutes, power back up and then go into the manufacturer's website to see if a security update has been issued for your router. My router is a Netgear and sure even there was a new security update, took about 3-4 minutes to download. Better safe, than sorry! Article says 100's of thousands of routers worldwide! Moderators, if there is a better place to post this, please move it! Thanks - Rick

.....Modus Operandi As being somewhat semi retired, until my cervical disability resolves itself someday (I sometimes have this nagging pain from a pinched neck nerve, combination of a rear ender of an SUV that almost ended me 18 years ago, and working hunched over long hours on computer keyboards), I spend several hours a day enjoying P3DV4 and Xplane11, using one or the other during week long stretches. I have always enjoyed short flights, hand flying the aircraft, using the autopilot in a simple way, set it and forget it. Never got into any FMS, setting up waypoints, etc, seemed way too hard. Then I chanced upon a post in the screenshots forum about an Aero…

What was your longest one day flight in a general aviation single engine aircraft? I flew my 4 kids from our home in Ogden Utah to Grandma's house in California one summer. Hinkley Field to Gnoss Field in Novato just north of San Francisco. A tad over 600 miles in a Cherokee 180. I made a refueling and rest stop in Reno. Then took off to south and circled until I had enough altitude to crest the Sierras. Turned west over Lake Tahoe. Reduced power for the slide down the west slope to about Sacramento where I added cruise power for the short hop to Novato. On the return trip I was about abeam Sacramento when a pair of F-101 Wonders were climbing o…
