Hello AVSIM Folks, I have been away from FSX and flight sim in general for a few years due to health and computer issues. Over the past month I have been trying to reinstall all previous FSX (boxed) add ons that were purchased from a variety of vendors. All have been very cooperative and helpful in re-establishing contact with the exception of FlightSim Store. Over the past several weeks, nearly a month, I have sent several emails, Ticket submissions even sending a PM on their FaceBook page. I have even tried calling them from North Carolina, no answer. I have yet to hear ANY reply to to my emails, ticket submissions and PM. When calling the reply I receive is their box i…

I'm a bit at a loss where to post this, so mods please move to a more appropriate forum if it seems out of place here. Like many members I have recently made the switch to P3D V4. I have managed to get new installers for most of my favorite FSX planes. On 8/17/2012 I purchased the the MilViz B55 Baron from the Avsim Store. I don't have a download link or any idea how to get one now that the store is closed. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,

I want to see if real world flying in GA aircraft is like in simulation. Many GA aircraft I have want to roll to the left so I need to add a bit of right aileron and bit of rudder to get straight and level but I have to keep a little pressure on the stick and rudder to stay straight and level unless I trim the elevator and aileron. I'm aware some aircraft in the real world don't have aileron or rudder trim so if they have to keep a bit of constant pressure on the stick and rudder would they be able to do hands off straight and level flight and does hands off mean feet off rudder too? My big question is if it's normal to keep a little constant pressure on the stick and rud…

It will be of interest to some to note that the Junkers Ju-52 WWII plane that crashed in Switzerland yesterday was the actual plane that featured in the famous opening sequence of the film “Where Eagles Dare” (not just the same type, but the very same plane itself – call sign HB-HOT). RIP to the 20 crash victims, and RIP to "Tante-Ju". Hi all, This question pertains more to the European pilots or those who fly in Europe. I am a real world commercial pilot. I have flown throughout Canada and the Untied States. I am familiar with using our VFR Navigational charts, WAC charts, LO charts and HE charts. I am now getting interested in flying around and exploring Western and Eastern Europe within Prepar3D. I have avoided these area's for all my flight simming years due to the lack of proper aeronautical maps and charts for the regions. Today there are many resources available online to assist with this, however I find that the information that I am seeing in these charts are rather lacking. Am I…

Looks like the FAA is proposing or will eliminate the Hazardous Inflight Weather Advisory Service (HIWAS). Is this service still considered a necessary tool by pilots, or has it become redundant by newer technology?

Hopeless. just annoying to deal with. Seem full of good intentions....the road to hell is paved with them! I will not consider dealing with them until they deliver what is paid for. You pays your money...they take it....and then you are stuck! Why offer a discount code that is expired before its expiry date...that is PC Aviator folks!

.... When Avsim came into existence? I was a member from just about the very beginning, used to frequent Flightsim.com alot too but found it easier just to stick with one forum, although I loved both. Cannot even remember what version of MSFS I was using when I started with Avsim. I was once a moderator here but found the job too tough, I took it too personally and asked Tom if I could resign, was younger then, less mature, and overworked in my full time IT profession at the time. An exhausted mod is not a good mod, I found out. I felt the pain of the Avsim hack, donated what I could at that time to help bring the site back up, it was like losing a confidant. Always…

I have flown commercial, hundreds of hours over the past five decades, and can remember so many moments in flight. Like flying into Frankfurt in 1987, as dawn was coming, the clouds a pink and purple glow below us, so beautiful as we weaved our way in and out of them to touchdown following the path of the Rhine, which I could see below. The flight was a non stop DC 10 American Airlines flight from Dallas, arguably the best Transatlantic crossing I ever had as we took the northerly route over Quebec and Newfoundland, just to the south of Greenland and Iceland. I could see the Northern Lights out the window of the DC 10, so beautiful and a memory I will never forget. Fa…

We know that in an airline pilots career a low seniority number can make an awful big difference in quality of life choices, advancement, and general control over his/her destiny. The lower the better. A few things I was wondering. 1. When a pilot transfers to another domicile, say KJFK to KATL, does he keep the same seniority number and if so how does this affect those who have been at that domicile for years with higher numbers? The next bidding cycle they lose their favorite route, vacation choice, equipment or maybe even their captaincy to the guy transferring in if he chooses though they have been at KATL many years? 2. If a Captain is bumped down to FO fo…

Beside the in cabin cigarette smoking, I miss the old days, these put a smile on my face. Women were women, men were men, people were classy, polite and dressed nicely. This is just one example from my new favorite youtube channel. I figured some others may enjoy all these large and varied amounts of videos if they haven't already found this channel.

Hey all! Unless you've had your head under a rock for the past few years you've undoubtedly heard of the rise of the use of drones for a myriad of business purposes. If you're like me, your passion for flight simulation has evolved to include a love of flying these incredible machines and perhaps you may have thought that you could make some money in the process. And you'd be right, there are already quite a few companies offering drone services and there are those who are adding drones to their established businesses. Surveyors and civil engineering firms, photographers and production companies are already in the game. There are companies which have a genesis from …

Everytime I buy scenery from Orbx, like today, when I got North and South Germany on sale for 50% off, I always read that they "strongly recommend " using FTX Central to install the scenery. I always think, well it has been awhile since I have use FTX central, maybe they have finally fixed it, so I start the download. Come back to the PC around 1 1/2 hours later, and the clock on the right says it has downloaded .77 GB, and it has 3 hours to go, and downloading at 800 kbs, but the download amount is stuck and not moving at all. Come back an hour later, same thing, and download amount is still stuck at the same spot, but the clock for the time till it is finished is still…
