While it won't be released for a while, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw very much looks like a homage to the programs that started the space sim genre in the first place, such as Freelancer and Wing commander. Might be worth keeping an eye on!

I just bought Orbx True Earth Netherlands. 72GB. I am waiting until we go someplace for the weekend to start installing it. The thought came to me that The Netherlands is a pretty small country. If True Earth is the future of Orbx scenery how big a drive am I going to need for say True Earth Northern California? I recall the first computer I bought. It was an IBM I think with a DOS OS. My brother was helping me select what I needed. He said buy two 10MB Hard Drives and that's all you'll need for the rest of your life. I was so proud of it because all my friends were still swapping 5 1/4 inch floppys. You youngsters probably don't remember those days of y…

For those using ProATC there is a Facebook group "ProATC X User's Group" link here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1571953959750565/ We have three admins available to give advice as well as the guys developing it popping in from time to time. (Any problems regarding crashes etc should still be posted to the Pointsoft website along with the log of the flight). There is also a file section with a selection of real ATC (background chatter).

Has anyone dropped the $29USD on GSX Level 2 expansion? I was a little sticker-shocked based on the advertised feature set and wondered if it really "elevated" the base product experience THAT much. Anyone have reviews/testimonials/caveat emptors to offer? J

Just as an FYI, I purchased a ASUS VG245H and it has a 75Hz refresh rate feature. This means that even with Vsync on it will push 75FPS as the locked sync, VS the 60FPS the normal monitors have. Anyway I was having issues undocking windows to a second monitor. The FPS would drop...the usual dreaded sight and symptom. To Fix: First: go to NVIDIA control panel and go to the P3D profile. Select VSYNC and turn it OFF in the options list. Not "Use Application Settings". Make sure this is also the case in the global settings list. Secondly and this may be a big blow to some, the only thing that fixed it for me (Using P3D Vsync ON, Frame Rate Unlimited [This still lock…

This may be a bit of an odd question but I remember asking and reading about real world flightplans for Norway (Wideroe) and someone said that in some area's in Europe a lot of planes don't really fly from waypoint to waypoint anymore but in a rather straight and short line. There was a specific name for those kind of flights. Does this ring a bell with anyone...? I forgot how those kind of flights were called. I am (once more) looking for real world domestic Wideroe routes but can't find them. 😉

I recently upgraded from GTN 750 to GTN complete. The import function which I use with Lil Navmap has a capacity limit. In the past I would go into the GTN FPL file and delete old flight plans in order to import new ones. Used to be simple. Today I attempted to do the same, going as far as to delete all flight plans in the GTN FPL file and yet they still exitst in my 750. Have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times and the flight plans are still coming up when I hit "import" . Any ideas?

I'm returning to flight simulators after flying fs2004/fsx 10 years ago. In order to get updated on what addons are available, I have looked at many reviews on youtube. I notice there are some reviewers who almost always gives very good opinions. Like 10 of 10 possible points and such. Nothing can be so good. Meaning there are nothing to improve. I consider these reviews are more like advertisements, then honest reviews.

Some of you may have some insight into this -- right now, I see on FlightAware, two Fedex aircraft which are essentially circling around seemingly aimlessly. One is a DC-10 (MD-10) over Mobile, Alabama (Brookley Airport), and the other is a 757 doing lazy circles over southwest Georgia/north Florida, out of Cecil Field near Jacksonville, Florida. I've heard Fedex sometimes has "reserve" aircraft airborne, ready to fly to a spot that has a lot of demand. Do you think that is what these are? Or are they doing checkride or maintenance ops? It seems odd to me, that they are flying around Cecil and Brookley, as you would think they would be flying near higher populat…

Hi Folks, Arrrggh - just received an email from fltplan.com - they’ve been bought by Garmin which doesn’t bode well for our free geo-referenced approach plates or electronic flight bag... Garmin doesn’t do anything for free... Regards, Scott

Now that Captain Sim's new 757 is getting better with each update/hotfix and that type being one of my favourites I'm going into it more but have some questions that came up while flying. 1. The DH panel. Since it only goes up to 999, what do I do when landing at a higher airport with minimums above that? 2. Am I right in assuming VNAV can't be armed on the ground before T/O like in the 737 e.g.? As well, it doesn't care much about accel height does it? 3. In case I'm right about the above, what's the correct procedure for the first climb segments? What's the common (or Delta specific, in case someone knows) accel height? Setting V2 in th…

Two days ago I tried to buy 6 Latin VFR and 1DD airports using my PayPal account. That acct uses my Visa Card which does not carry a balance month to month. I immediately got an e-mail from PayPal with this message: "We’ve placed a temporary pending status on this transaction. To comply with government regulations, PayPal is required to review certain transactions. The payment you sent is currently being reviewed and we will complete this process within 72 hours. This review only involves this transaction and does not affect the use of your PayPal account." Two days later I got this message: "We have completed our review of this transaction. Unfor…

If so I would love to hear your appraisal of this product. Looks like a nice yoke for those of us not in the Go Flight economic strata. One thing that really interest me is the desk top attaching mechanism. Over the years I have been quite happy with my CH yoke and throttle quadrants except for the annoying clamps that do a sorry job of securing the controllers to the desk. In fact I stripped the left clamp on the throttle quad by over tightening. Thanks in advance for any comments on this product. Since it's my Birthday maybe I can get this past my wife if I decide to order one.😁

If you've never heard the conspiracy theories surrounding Denver International Airport, do yourself a big favor and go google it...and have a good laugh. The maintenance crew at KDEN decided to finally own up to said theories with these awesome new construction signs as the main terminal undergoes renovations:

I was in Atlanta waiting to take off in an MD-80, I was sitting on the starboard side of the aircraft, by the window and just ahead of the engine. When the pilot applied thrust for pushback, the port engine whined so horrifically loud that I knew something was wrong. I looked behind me and saw nothing unusual, other than immediately worried and frustrated passengers, as the whine was extremely painful to our ears. I hit the flight attendant call button. An angry pregnant flight attendant told me to turn it off for takeoff, I implored her to listen to the loud engine and told her the door was not sealed properly, shouting at the top of my lungs. The other passengers w…

It's been a weird two days at Porterville's Municipal Airport. One plane crashed into an airport sign and another overturned. The explanation: there isn't an explanation, said pilots who reported a "pulling" before the planes crashed in separate incidents. It all started late Friday morning when the pilot of a small aircraft was landing at the rural Porterville airport on South Newcomb Street. The pilot, who police didn't identify, told officers she was landing when her "aircraft began pulling." She couldn't control the plane and slammed into an airport marker near the end of the runway. She wasn't injured in the crash. It's not known if there was anyone …
