We recently had at least two members who received a PM from FlightLevel 270 asking them to visit his website. His website was selling very expensive products, $2000 - $5000 dollars for some hardware. His site stated it was the first Nigerian Online Aviation Website and the site was professionally done and looked very real. One has to wonder how the delivery of a $5000 piece of hardware would have gotten to the buyer(s). Some may be familiar with the infamous Nigerian scam (Google) which was extremely successful. If anyone received an e-mail from Flight Level 270, please do not respond to it or be aware that it could be a scam. We have banned Flight Level 270 pe…

Hey everyone, after a 3 year pause, I am slowly getting back to my beloved hobby and boy have things changed! In a nutshell, I moved to Orlando, FL, got a new job and just have been settling in with hardly any time for simming. As a matter of fact, I don't even have my simming PC and peripherals anymore! Basically starting from scratch again and I am completely lost! Even my website, livedispatch.org closed down. With that being said, I have a ton of catching up to do and I am seriously thinking about going the VR route with DCS and P3D. I have started doing research on a new PC build but with new CPUs and GPUs coming out in the next few weeks and Black Friday /…

Not as spectacular as John Muir's 'Range of Light' but an interesting flight non-the-less. Idaho Falls ID to Spokane WA (Felts Field). Again set up a VFR GPS route and let the autopilot do the driving while you enjoy the scenery. It's about a 2 hour flight (in my Quest Kodiak at an IAS of 184 knots). Set AP altitude at 10,500ft. Starting out over the farm lands of Idaho Falls and a bit of high desert you soon start flying over the Bitterroots. Once you hit the mountains you will notice they are older mountains, well worn down, heavily forested, with 'V" shaped valleys indicative of water erosion. About halfway through the flight the mountains flat…

Folks For those interested in procedures for Kai Tak, the latest Airac from Navigraph (1712) contain those procedures. Thanks go to Martin Stewart who worked very hard to produce this body of work in ARINC format for Richard Stephan of Navigraph to publish. Well done men. The real beauty of this is that VHHX procedures have been produced in many developer's format by Navigraph so many more Flight Simmers can enjoy the challenges of the old Kai Tak. Cheers

I'm an advocate of general aviation flying in my sim and I was glad to add the Orbx Big Bear City airport to my collection recently. I also like mountain flying. And in that vein let me introduce you to some of the most spectacular mountain scenery the Orbx developers have created. I am familiar with the Sierra Nevada range or the High Sierras as we call them. I've backpacked in some of the areas that are protected by Sequoia, Kings Canton and Yosemite National Parks. Yesterday I started my flight at Big Bear City airport because I wanted to visit that new Orbx addition. It's a 2 hour flight in my Quest Kodiak. Create a VFR GPS flight plane from Big Bea…

Cannot recall if this was ever asked before. Mine is the screenshots forum where our sims, and add-ons, are shared so proudly. Also like the flight video forum but it does not see much traffic and fewer responses to posts there. Finally Hangar Chat, which I love for the variety of topics, it is a well moderated forum with so many interesting viewpoints, especially when real pilots, flight crew or traffic controllers contribute to the forum. Also it is a great place along with the screenshots forum for heads up on new products or thanking developers for well established ones. I used to like giving help in the OS and hardware forum but have not done so too often an…

I was thinking today about Pilot Edge and the subscription cost...and a thought dawned on me that I'd like to hear opinions from the far more informed than mine.. Pilot Edge really is a nice service, but it is rather expensive in my opinion ($329 a year for the best package). Pilot Edge uses human controllers with delivers nearly 100% realism including even controller error and hearback errors. The limitations of course are the cost due to having to pay humans an hourly wage and coverage limitations due to a single human can only control so many areas. So basically, it is a limited premium service. Anyway, here's my question/thought: what is the feasibility …

I was feeling a bit lonely last night, so I invited a friend of mine in my apartment complex to go to the store with me. He was really jazzed for some reason, he wanted his girlfriend to see my flight simulator setup. Although I have two good flight simulators, my sim desk is a bit messy, after all, it is a small apartment. But I had my new Logitech Extreme 3D joystick for him to try. First I fired up P3D. I had already taught my friend to fly the sim well, except for takeoffs. Once I got the Twinstar into the air over Ely Nevada, I turned the sim over to him. Boy, he sure remembered a lot of my lessons. He started doing barrel rolls. He must have watched me do o…

Optimal fuel flow calcs done in real time for GA aircraft? Foreflight is ok, but doesn’t appear to do TOD. LittleNavMap does TOD but not sure what it’s based on? HiFi AS4 does TOD also but that seems not accurate. GTN 750 doesn’t do it. Searched online and couldn’t find anything that covers my desired info ... just generic rule of thumb and nothing based on all the factors of flight, air temp, density, wind speeds/direction, engine type(s), etc. I figure in this day and age there must be something a little more accurate for GA aircraft? In addition, is there a single source/website that has detail specs for aircraft, like fuel flow rates (ta…

Good day, Can anybody elaborate on differences between the two (except one is free and the other one require to be purchased). I'm a PTA (purchased) user, mainly I'm interested which one is less demanding on resources, I hear that PTA will kill some FPS. Also it appears to me that Tomato S has a few more options. I would appreciate any comparison between the two, thanks.

Has anyone come across an app that would show all live ship positions in P3Dv4? I currently use the AI-based shipping app available from the Avsim library. It would be much more realistic if an app could use the available ship AIS data to inject all ships into P3Dv4.😉

As we now have P3D4 Ready 757 I am interested in others opinion. In the light of a middle of the market discussion, was this the best decision to made considering the gap Boeing has today? I remember their statement that days that they discontinue 757 program as it would create internal competition with 737-900. However today we now that this airframe, as well as longest MAX, is unable to further develop into MoM nor to compete with A321LR. The 757 had all its advantages to further develop that 737 hasnt. Mainly engine clrearance, size. Just wondering how much Opportunity was possible to achive on 757 if equipment with new engines, awionics, materials and other tec…

Hello all I'm sitting around the AVSIM Hangar, and figured I'd ask -- I came across the pic below, and I'm curious as to what livery is on the yellow/white/blue aircraft in the background in this pic -- it's something-"International" I think, but not sure: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Alaska-Airlines/Airbus-A321-253N/5144611/L Thanks

Hi, Looking for an advice. The aircraft i fly needs too little power on cruise. For example i use 90% N1 on 430k GW to keep .82 Mach while i should have around 101% to keep that speed at this weight. could this be adjusted in cfg file or is it only possible by modifying Air file? kind regards, Kris

Hello everyone, After a few months without news, I post this information message. The activity of LMT Simulation continues. The airport of Cannes-Mandelieu, LFMD, was the first modeled, followed by a second version LFMD 2, including many animations and statics. The release of the airfield of Vinon-sur-Verdon followed some time later. Today, I am pleased to inform you of our new release : The international airport of the "La Môle St-Tropez", LFTZ. Thank you for your trust and your loyalty in this young company. I invite you to visit our site for more information. Of course I am available for any information you may need and any suggestions, …

Has anyone seen or tried one of these? https://www.motion-sim.cz/new/?page=home&article=9&menu=34 This is a FS specific version (only mentions FSX, but...) with yoke, pedals, three screens. Ran into a clip somewhere showing it in action as a racing sim and it looks amazing. Pulls up to 2Gs. Price you ask? They don't say other than: " Typical cost of the basic model 4DOF Extreme is equal to middle class car. " Gulp. Scott

I've just downloaded the Just Flight BAe 146 Livery with FMC application and my anti virus, Symantic Endpoint Protection, immediately deleted it say it had a WS.Reputation.1 issue. Does anyone know if this is a genuine problem or just Symantic being over protective? Thanks 🙂

Hi all, I decided to purchase ASA's E6B flight computer to add a little more realism to flight simming when flying GA aircraft, but a couple of questions have come up when attempting to use the E6B for wind corrections: 1. The E6B manual and online articles recommend that I use true course and true wind heading to determine the wind correction angle (WCA) and true heading. They recommend converting from true heading to magnetic heading as the last step. However, the equation on the E6B itself is MC (-L or +R) WCA = MH, suggesting that starting with magnetic course is permissible if you know the magnetic wind heading. Is it uncommon or bad practice to calculate w…
