    Hi. I've never dealt with Dovetail before, but just purchased FSW. Is it possible to download FSW to one computer and then actually do the install on my sim computer which would be connected to internet for the actual install process. It didn't appear that I could, but would prefer that. Thanks, Jeff

  3. Delta retired its last 747 this week, marking the end of 747 passenger service on all US-based airlines. That said, there are over 450 747's (passenger and freight) still in service worldwide.

  5. In an advertising campaign for The Grand Tour tv show, DHL dedicated three planes to TV hosts and motor journalists Richard Hammond, James May, and Jeremy Clarkson. And, they let fans name the three planes in honor of the hosts. The James May plane shall be: Hair Force One The Richard Hammond plane shall be: Small Goods And the Jeremy Clarkson plane is dubbed: The Flying Orangutan See the full article here:https://discover.dhl.com/culture-hype/tgt-name-that-plane/you-named-our-planes.html ...anyone wanna make these liveries? I don't know if I believe in UFOs or not. I live in Roswell NM, UFO Central, and have talked to some people who were around in 1945 during the infamous UFO incident. One of them was the young girl who's father was the sheriff and brought a piece of the debris home. She played with it. She told me it was like a stiff piece of aluminum foil but when she crumpled it up and let go of it it smoothed itself out without a wrinkle. The next day she said someone from the Army Air Force came and got it. This was on Google News this morning. http://abcnews.go.com/US/navy-pilot-recalls-encounter-ufo-unlike/story?id=51856514 Noel

    Take this as you will, especially the MAX part... “Our schedule is pretty heavy with the 747-8, and even when we get that one released, we will still be pretty MAX'd out...”

  8. I'm working on a financial game to be used with flight sim. If I have a 20 sided die I have 1/20=5% chance of any one number coming up. In order to be successful lets say I need to roll an 18 or higher, (18,19,20) if my math is correct I have a 15% chance of rolling that on one 20 sided die. Now, this is where I'm confused. If I use two dice, do I have 30% chance? then is that equivalent of rolling 1 die with a target number of >14 (15-20)?

    I have noticed most of the addon aircraft that have been released in the past year retail for $39.95. Is 40 dollars going to be the new base price for aircraft? Dale

    I have been flying the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended quite a bit lately as a part on my membership at FS Economy. I've had the aircraft quite a while now and feel very comfortable with it, but documentation about settings during takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, and landing are, shall we say...sparse. FS Economy requires you to fly at a speed that gets you an average fuel consumption of 120 gallons per hour and I can trim her and set the prop speed and throttles to get that and still average 140 KIAS in cruise at 10,000 feet. So I'm comfortable with the way I am flying her, but also curious if that is reasonably close to the way she is flown for real. To that end I ha…

  14. As per the title, here's the first of a little series of videos I decided to make explaining how to fly an aeroplane. I doubt any regulars here on Avsim will need to watch this first one, but it might be of use to people new to flying simulated aeroplanes (or real ones) who sometimes come to Avsim for help. Anyway, hope you like it:

  15. Well this is certainly a 180 from what I heard talking to the ORBX guys at Flightsim con this past summer. It looks like they intend to start charging for updates to their products. Unlike in the past when they were all pushed out through FTX Central. Read the correspondence below. I am actually a little shocked and yes I'm stupid for what I did. [Removed}

    Last evening (Saturday) I ordered KTNP from 29Palms Scenery Design, but I chose the wrong platform. I contacted them via their email and concluded that I'd be waiting until the business week started to hear from them. To my surprise Lars replied back this morning and promptly got my mistake squared away for me. I've now downloaded, installed, and spent some time flying around KTNP. The scenery is quite impressive, and blends perfectly with my Orbx SoCal region (and I have little doubt it plays well with FTX Global, Default, BlueSky, and MegaScenery options as well). KTNP is easy on the eyes and easy on the frames! Great fun! Thanks Lars, Greg

    I know this is the P3D Forum but I am dumping my P3Dv4 installation and going back to FSX. I can't seem to connect with P3D. Lots of little things like some Orbx airports that don't work in FAT areas while all the others do; CTDs that seem to happen for no reason; and just the general level of comfort I felt with FSX that I don't withP3D. I'm an airplane collector. I collect them even if I am only going to fly them once. And I have to start that all over again in P3Dbecause so few FSX aircraft work in P3Dv4. I miss the military ai traffic I had with FSX. But mainly I was comfortable and satisfied with FSX. But, like most simmers, I felt I had to push the …

  22. Hi Folks, Came across this at Newegg (hot key/macro keypad) - seems like it could be immensely useful as it supports switching profiles on the fly - each profile has it's own defined set of custom images (LED 72x72 pixels) in the key selected from their lib or any source you want... Plugging in autopilot buttons or aircraft specific commands - wow... Anyone have a flight sim PIREP - generic reviews seem positive... https://www.infinitton.com/ Regards, Scott

    So, for those interested in RC model planes, (I remember going to a store named POLKS in New York and staring at the really big, impossibly expensive ones in awe) it seems like a new era is possibly being born with the advent of cheap and fast(er) 3d printers. A whole sub-industry in selling the plans for planes is growing, and the first experiments are filling the air. A thought occurs to me: Even as internet stores are replacing big-box retail, and as big-box replaced mom-and-pop.... Might there come a time when most people simply buy plans and make things at home on their printers......? I wonder if the world is about to change..... Again. https://www.f…
