Forgive me for going so far off topic for this kind of forum but I would like to share this you. This is the anniversary of father's death. He was just two weeks shy of his 80th birthday. I have outlived him by 4 years. A couple of years ago I felt a need to document what my father meant to me. My Dad It was hot. The trail was dusty and the pack was getting heavier with every step up that long, steep trail that followed French Creek up the mountain. I began to wonder if this had been a bad idea. It was the summer of 1949 and I was fifteen years old, skinny, and weighed 120 pounds soaking wet. The previous Fall I read two books; ‘Waters of the Golden…

  3. Hello guys, This is a research for an add-on I am currently developing (AI Lights Reborn Profesional Edition) regarding the turnoff runway lights. If you are a real world pilot, could you posibly answer the questions below: 1) What plane model / airline are you flying? For example, Boeing, Airbus, etc. 2) What airline are you flying for? For example, Ryanair, EasyJet, etc. 3) When are you normally using your Turnoff runway lights? For example: Always, only during taxi at nights, only before performing turns during taxi at nights, always below 10,000 ft, only at the runway after landing, etc. 4) Any other information you wish to pass on? For …

My Google-Fu is weak. Having played around with the freeware C46, Yes, Libardo Guzman's freeware aircraft does give you some decent gauges and prop condition levers you can play with. I'm curious as to the procedure for warming these radials up in real life, just to watch the numbers in the sim :) . For example, as soon as FSX:SE loads the plane with engines running they are idling at a few hundred rpm with the low oil pressure lights illuminated. The lights only go out once I've advanced the condition levers to give more than 1000 rpm.I would have thought low oil pressure was bad regardless of engine temp/rpm. Cheers!

Here is something that piqued my interest. Just read the superscript one as being directly above the subscript square-root three, marking the range of the integral, and the superscript three near the end as making the root after it a cube root. Note: the _ represents a superscript. ∫ 1√3 z2dz • cos 3π/9 = ln 3√e The reason I like this equation is that it can be read as a limerick. No, seriously. I’ll set it off a bit for those that might like to try to work it out themselves… Integral z-squared dz From one to the square root of three Times the cosine Of three pi over nine Equals log of the c…

  13. Hello. I've searching for this everywhere on the internet and found out the Internet doesn't satisfy me at all. I only can gathered answers around other planes like B737 hydraulics and such, but not the B747. I've came up with the question on Quora yet the answers dissapoint me further. This is so frustrating. On Boeing 747-400 hydraulics system, if one of the four system fails in-flight, what would happen to the system? How does other system back-ups the failing system in advance? Would you show me the detailed explaination along with its detailed schematic diagram? True, there are schematics diagram for B747 hydraulics but that's simplified. I need to know the…

Hi all, not sure where the best place for this is, and it's sort of an add-on, so I hope you don't mind me sticking it here: This is a quick market research survey about flight simming and virtual orgs. https://goo.gl/forms/vpFSoJ258YSWpSEu1 If you have the time and inclination to fill it in, I'd appreciate it! I'll post the results here for information, if anyone's interested. Regards Mike

My old computer crashed. The CPU and MB fried. I suppose neglecting the fans and running all summer in 80-85 degree temps took it's toll. My new one arrived yesterday and after I figure out how Windows 10 works I'll be reinstalling my sim from scratch. I ordered an Alienware from Dell. i7 8700 (6 core) 12mb cache 4.6 GHZ Intel Turboboost Technology. Windows 10 64 bit Pro 850 Watt power supply nVidia GeForce GTX 1080 8KB GDDR5 32GB 2666MHZ DDR4 RAM 256GB SSD (Boot) 2TB 7200RPM SATA HD 6GB/S Liquid Cooling Now the kids have no inheritance. Noel

  17. It's been a "thought" for some time and I simply do not have the skills to do it or, I would! I envision the ultimate redneck airline with matching aircraft. The picture in my mind includes total backwoods/ swamp dweller, crew and airline name. As for the aircraft, tons of duct tape and bailing wire holding things together, obvious air frame patches, perhaps even a huge jet engine tied/ duct taped onto the top of the fuselage of some older propeller passenger aircraft. Sometimes, my mind goes to strange places without me...

Yesterday I went to the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa, California, and flew a P-51 in their flight sim. While setting up the sim I remember seeing DCS World at the bottom of one view, so that's why I'm posting here. They use a 3-D headset which gives a very realistic view. I'm a pilot (general aviation) and at first found the P-51 to be quite difficult to maneuver without overcontrolling, but I got better after a while. The instructor set up a flight in Las Vegas with a low-level route marked by virtual "boxes" appearing which you flew through (or attempted to). I found it very challenging and will definitely go back for more. They said they had $18,000 invested …

Hi guys (& gals..) I know that Avsim have had a few murmers re the 'new' display, where the screen white space (blue on Avsim) is a little, shall we say, too prominent, which leaves less space for the content. I myself have a huge problem with this - I used to use 'Ctrl/+' and 'Ctrl/-' to adjust my display resolution when viewing a web page. I have noticed lately that more and more sites have this same problem like Avsim - where the content 'fixed width' prevails. Today I see that the BBC news site has now adopted this format. It is infuriating when trying to dynamically increase the font size for my tired 78 yrs old eyes that any adjustment appears to be li…
