I have just come across a set of interviews with D.P. Davies, author of "Handling the Big Jets" and certification test pilot for many of the airliners we all love so much. I can't believe I've spent 4 solid hours listening to the first three - the wife had to pull the earphones off my head to get me down for dinner. The bits on the 707 and 747 are pure gold, and I have yet to listen to the one on Concorde. First seen via pprune, but I'm linking to the original site: https://www.aerosociety.com/news/audio-the-d-p-davies-interview-on-the-boeing-747-the-trident-vc10-one-eleven-the-boeing-727/

Noticed by chance today how PayPal which I use quite a lot to buy software related to flight sim crashes my Windows with a kind of blue screen (BugCheck) as soon as I try to logon. I've made sure I'm fully up to date for all my hardware as well as applying all the latest fixes for Windows and I've also scanned my PC for any potential viruses or other unwanted software both using Avast as well as Malwarebytes but it all came out clean. I've also tried both Chrome, IE and Edge but same thing...they will all crash Windows hard and I only see this issue with PayPal and no other sites or situations. I've also ran sfc but same thing there...no issues found. A bit scar…

I flew on this same aircraft earlier this year. It's the second aircraft I've flown on that has gone thru this engine issue, fortunately, there is more redundancy on four-engine aircraft. That's why we will miss the queen of the skies...... https://www.azcentral.com/videos/news/local/phoenix/2017/12/09/engine-trouble-british-airways-flight-phoenix/108480070/

I'm new to FSX-SE so I wasn't prepared for this. I flying alone fat, dumb and happy in my Quest Kodiak on my way from Novato CA to Lake Tahoe. Everything is nice. It's the middle of June and only some cirrus way up at about 35,000 feet. I'm about half way there and all of a sudden the screen goes black. Then a popup appears telling me Steam has a new driver to install. Then, as I'm collecting my thoughts, the popup disappears. I click on the screen and it turns into a smaller black patch covering a third of my screen. I click on the FSX icon on the task bar and my flight reappears. But the magic is gone. I go from fat, dumb and happy to slightly peev…

Hi, Looking for an advice. The aircraft i fly needs too little power on cruise. For example i use 90% N1 on 430k GW to keep .82 Mach while i should have around 101% to keep that speed at this weight. could this be adjusted in cfg file or is it only possible by modifying Air file? kind regards, Kris

Don't know if anyone is aware but Rollus came out with a CL-215 for fsx,P3Dv3 and V4 last spring and apparently the 415 is comming out soon! I bought it and I don't regret it! Amazing plane, the flight dynamics also as the textures are amazing! Scooping and drop operation. Really worth the money

Inspired by a thread I was following here at the FSW Avsim forums, I decided to try FSW again. It had been a long while since my last experiments with FSW, and they were positive, but by that time no missions apart from the intial default ones were available. The Alaska free pack I tried made me soon realize I should try the "Epic Approaches Mission Pack" payware missions, and I ended up buying also the two other DLCs, Piper Arrow III and the Big Bear City airport. I confess I didn't even had the chance to try the TrueSky stuff - which looks very nice, and plausible, and makes me really look forward into the weather engine DTG is working on. Not a long…

  15. Hi all! The first beta of FSW seemed to be fully compatible with the Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. Following update then removed this capability, claiming it would crash the game for some users. It was not my case. Any chance Dovetail can make this compatibility a on/off thing or a manual patch? Even a line change in a config file would do... Issue is I'm quite accustomed to flying with Force Feedback. Plus I've invested a considerable amount of money and time in acquiring, repairing and overhauling my joystick. I was really hoping I could use it with what looks to be the next great flight simulator. I'm aware other force feedback peripherals work (I ow…

Separate from the update to the Mission Editor to add the SDK I also got a small update to the sim itself yesterday which is now at v1.3.23065.0 but can't find any info on what it included. Anyone know?

In memory of 100 years now since the Halifax Explosion. My old school was on the shore of the Harbour where the Mont-Blanc blew up killing 2000 citizens and wounding 9000 people, that old building used to creek a lot which would send chills up your spine. Many have forgotten this story but it was the largest non-nuclear explosion caused be mankind for almost 80 years, the explosion was so big the ships in Boston Harbour felt the shock-wave, and it absolutely devastated the city of Halifax. Boston was the first response sending a train loaded with supplies and people to help, Boston also took in the orphans from the disaster until the end of World War 1 and took care …

Last Stephen Hood's announcement: "So what’s next? We’ve been eager to expand the available stock aircraft in Flight Sim World for a while. We’re currently laying the foundations for IFR implementation, which will not only enhance your GA experience, but also allow us to bring the jet we’re working on into the core of Flight Sim World. We’ll have more to share on this in the near future!"

Hi all, I'm being cheeky and after a favour please..... If anyone is able to measure the full travel of whatever ga aircraft they have access to it would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to know how far from the panel the yoke site when full forward and full aft plus what aircraft it was. I'm unable to get to the airfield until after Christmas now so if there is anyone who can provide these it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris

  21. Hi folks, Here's my thoughts after some solid hours of flight time: The interface is beautiful, at least compared to what we're used to. It's not the same as FSX, but you need to get used to that right now or you're just going to be angry - this is NOT FSX, there's no reason to expect everything to be the same. So as I was saying about the interface - it's crisp, quick and colorful, It does look more like a game than a commercial sim, but that's OK given what the devs are aiming for here (this sim is not Prepar3d either!). The music works well, the plane images look great and the flight planner is simple but works suprisingly well. If you want to keep things bas…

I've been flying XPlane more lately and I like the way it doesn't argue with me. I choose aircraft, location, time and weather and then I'm in the cockpit ready to go. Its clean and not in the way. It doesn't congratulate me when I land because it knows that the landing itself is congratulations. I've been driving American Truck Sim a lot lately. Its a game but it doesn't get in your way somehow. You start and you drive and you look at maps and you can take a job or not. You can free drive or you can take a job. FSW seems to be caught in between game and sim. It starts like a game but then its a sim for the most part. I am hoping that there is a way …
