Two weeks before my 84th birthday I had my quarterly visit to my doctor. Except for some arthritis in my right shoulder and bad feet that keep me from walking much he said my heart and lungs sounded fine. My eye doctor has my glaucoma under control. On Tuesday, a week after my 84th birthday, I made my annual tri to the renal clinic. She said my blood work look excellent. Everything is base line. Since I get little exercise and I don't eat healthily...I eat what I like as opposed to a proper diet, I am going to paraphrase old Arab fishing proverb into a Noelian proverb based on the inordinate amount of time I spend on fight simming. "The time spent f…

Do real world pilots have anything available to them that allows them to keep track of block out, off, on, block in times automatically? Or do they still need to write this stuff down manually?

Hi everybody, Due to some technical issues with the 777 and A320 I have no other choice to fly the 747. Now, I‘m looking for some nice and short routes around the world which are operated by a 747. I do like long hauls but I’d like to do multiple landings per day not only one. It doesn‘t matter if it‘s a PAX flight or a cargo flight, any suggestions would be appreciated. Currently I‘m only flying domestic routes in Japan but I‘d like to fly somewhere else for a change. Kind regards

I don't believe this video has been posted before, I thought it is a good video showing off the top players in the sim market today. While some might argue the order of the number one and two spots, I feel the video does a good job of presenting all the sims discussed. John

Wow! Not very much snow, but still gale force winds and blizzard conditions. And temperature is plummeting.... Time for a flight from say Lakeland, FL, to perhaps the Cayman Islands!

This is pretty darn neat. Pilot is flying 1500 feet above a Stealth Bomber as it flies over the Rose Bowl for the Oklahoma/Georgia Opening Ceremonies! https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/01/how-to-take-a-picture-of-the-stealth-bomber-over-the-rose-bowl/549545/ Still cannot believe Oklahoma lost that game!

It is with deep sorrow I have to report of the deteriorating health condition of Roy Chaffin, my good friend. Roy has been a great contributor to the Flight Simulator community. He has released packages for Combat Flight Simulator 2 and FS2002 all the way up to P3D He has been suffering with Parkinson's Disease for some time. Three weeks ago Roy had a fall. He went to get up off a chair (one of those office chairs on wheels). It went one way, he went the other. He fell on his back with his head hitting the door jamb behind him and was not really with it. Paramedics took him to a local hospital in an ambulance where he was x-rayed and they announced he had …

Hello everyone, I think it is fair to assume that 2017 was a game changer for us flight-simmers. In the last 12 months we got P3Dv4, XP11, Aerofly FS2, FSW, multiple high-quality add-ons and the rise of VR as one of the biggest advancements in flight simulation`s history. With all major platforms now offering native VR, I think 2018 will be an year of exponential growth of the installed user base and consolidation of this great technology. I believe it is also fair to point out that the FS landscape has changed significantly in the last year. Even though P3Dv4 was a great leap forward, I believe XP11`s constant evolution is starting to change the composition of …

Interesting news item... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and_audio/must_see/42545975/raf-cosford-cleaners-need-a-head-for-heights Is that a Hunter having an early 'Spring Clean' ? I must admit - if you haven't seen this display, it is well worth visiting if you are within travelling distance. I take my hat off to those who created this marvelous collection. They even have a kiosk for the 1962 Missile Crisis. Brought back memories... https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/ I was particularly impressed with the Migs, Vulcan and the TSR2 aircraft. I wonder how they got those MIGs...Ebay ? My 'Cockpit' (PC Desk) also needs a good clean after the …

All, May be you all can help me appreciate the various PMDG planes that I have: NGX, 777, MD-11, 747. I am always an enthusiastic guy when in comes to these birds, however, these are highly procedural sims, and the pilot fly the systems rather than the planes, so aside from getting the planes air born and land, with some very long cruise time in between, what's the real interests? I "flew" these birds a few time, and admire the developer work going into them. However, these days I found them interesting as collector items and have not flown them that often. Partly due to the long prep times required. So what is it that you heavy fliers out there like about this …

The bar that DTG has set for default GA aircraft in Flight Sim World, albiet some minor issues, is set pretty high.. When they release the new biz jet they are talking about, I'm just curious how it will be. Can't wait to see it...

“We also have two other projects we’re getting ready to put into full-time development (which we have held off on to make sure the 717 was where it needed to be). One of these will come as a surprise, and one of them will come as exciting news to those waiting for it.” Could this mean we’re finally getting an MD-11? And what could the other project be? Interesting stuff... https://blog.tfdidesign.com/2017/12/31/reflecting-on-2017/

https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/2017-in-review-stephen-hood.2895/ From their forums: It's been an exciting year for the team working on Flight Sim World at Dovetail! We released into Early Access six months ago, which marked the moment we started developing FSW alongside the community. We'd been working behind the scenes for a lot longer, but it was different reading your feedback on the Forums on Steam and our social media profiles. We kept plugging away at development, bug fixing, and working on larger updates. The Cold & Dark implementation in FSW is a great way to introduce people to simulation or a new aircraft; highlighting what needs to be…

Having some spare time here due a flu that knock me out good, so i thought lets see some good aviation movie, unfortunately there's not so many options in the market and i found my self seeing "Sully" for the second time, which BTW its a good movie that tells the story of the CACTUS 1549 that landed in the Hudson river in NY after a bird strike with the great Tom Hanks http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3263904/. So what do you guys have in your memory collection about aviation movies? For me not much, mostly 2 movies come to my mind: Memphis Belle http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100133/ And of course Top Gun http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092099

A charge came through my bank showing as pre-authorized - PayPal. Can’t find a corresponding one in PP transaction listing. Seems close to the amount I had done as a one-time donation. I did make a donation, early in December, which reconciled against my PayPal transaction list. However, I don’t recall if there was an option for it to be monthly. Is it possible I somehow clicked a button for auto monthly or should I dispute this with the bank?

I have been flying around a lot with the Google Earth Flight Simulator. So, it is not a high fidelity flight simulator. But it allows you to explore so many places with 3D buildings, and you can position yourself anywhere on the globe. I haven't been to the North Cascades National Park in Washington since 1972, the other day I used the Google Earth Flightsim to navigate thru "America's Alps". If you get good framerates in FSX, P3D, or Xplane, you will get astounding framerates in Google Earth's Flight Sim. Imagine flying a F16 thru canyons and vistas like Luke Skywalker. Granted there is no cockpit or immersion, but the scenery can be amazing. Google Earth's mesh i…
