I was inspired by THIS POST and just not patient enough to wait for MSFS (or even V5)... At that time I saw that post, I just staring to learn the PC12, and with RXP GTN, the gaugues mod by Bert and FDE by Bernt, It's very enjoyable ride to fit an unexplored niche (namely 200kts & FL200) for me. Start with Pilatus' home base LSZC, it's more like a delivery flight (while going the farther way around) than world tour. starting with less than 400nm hop, then it gose up to more like 600~800nm 3hr flight as I gain more confidence with her. Having cross both Atlantic and Pacific, I'm thinking it's about to end, But I still could continue on down to Oceania, w…

Back in December I decided to fly around the world in the PMDG737-800 in P3D v4.5. Despite the vast majority of the airports I landed at were default it in no way made the flights any less interesting. What made a huge difference was seeing airliners from all those countries at each airport I visited. That was down to Alpha India Group's fantastic Ai package with all their wonderful liveries and models. I didn't fly a leg every day but there days when I would fly two. I used Radar Contact v4 for every leg and it was so interesting to hear all the centres enunciated. Thousands of them were recorded by us back in 2006 and finally I've heard then spoken for the first ti…

I recently lost a really good friend. Her name was Rita. When she passed she was 103 years old. She was a Broadway dancer in the 1930's and she knew everyone in show business in the '30's and 40's. Everyone from Greta Garbo to Frank Sinatra, she knew them all. Her best friend back then was Lena Horne who occasionally would babysit for her daughter when Rita was out of town. My wife and I have spent countless hours with her while she recalled the memories. She was a member of the Broadway cast at the 1939 World's Fair. And, again, she was selected for the Broadway cast for the world tour in 1942 (cancelled because of WWII). Her memory books are unbelievable. She …

I'm using the latest NA navaids from aero.sors.fr and P3D isn't showing 17L/35R and it has 17R/35L as 16/34 instead. I have the lastest AIRAC 2006/1 cycles as of this date. I'm wondering if it's just aero.sors.fr that isn't updated, can someone check to see if their FsAerodata has 17L/34R for CYYC

I know this has nothing to do with anything, but I just had to share it with someone. I'm so proud of myself. I've started playing the piano again after a layoff of over 50 years. I bought a Yamaha grand (used) over the weekend and is was just delivered today. It's surprising to me how much I remember. My arthritic left thumb won't let me do a walking boogie bass anymore but other than that it's almost like I never stopped playing......except I can't remember a lot of the songs. I started playing when I was 11. My teacher was a piano-bar player named Howard who could barely read music. But he was the best good-to-listen-to piano player I've, to this day, ever heard.…

A few guys in the 'hood got together last night for a couple of beers. Somebody brought up their favorite bar. Then the conversation morphed into the world's best watering holes. What an amazing discussion. The only caveat was that you had to have actually been there. Like many of the folks here, some of us making the list had traveled quite a bit so the list of favorites was truly world-wide. Here's my contribution. Anybody want to add their's? The piano bar at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch - Carmel, California The Iron Horse on Maiden Lane - San Francisco, California. The poolside bar at the old Royal Waikoloan Hotel - Kona Coast, Hawaii The America…

Hello. bought APL yesterday, It seems nice but have a question about schedules. Hope it isn't bad place to post. Also have to mention that I asked this question on their discord but couldn't get answer. I own many add-on sceneries but schedules give me real plan, according to real life destinations. Many of which aren't even designed for sim. Can I filter or do something to chose destinations I'd like to fly? Or are they gonna add this feature in future? Thank you.

Guys, Avsim is on 7% of the requested $25 000.00 (for the last week)!! That's a total of $1 705.00 donated so far. Whereas Sim-Outhouse has reached 82% of it's requested $10 000.00! with a total of $8 210.00 reached. Avsim is reputably (by it's members) regarded as THE virtual aviation site to go to, Forum posts are interesting to compare..MS franchise forums only!! I wrote a piece here once about abut how I fell in love with airplane. I was in the 6th or 7th grade and saw an Luscombe on the floor of an auto dealership near our house. I went there every day after school and they let me sit in it. Many years later, after high school and a stint in the Marine Corps I got to actually fly one. And I still do. I first met Bill Lyons' lovely lady the third grade. His Luscombe 8A. It was the young lady (at the time) I learned to fly in and I first soloed in and I flew my first cross country's in. It was a Luscombe 8E on floats and I flew it from an arm of the San Francisco Bay called Richardson Bay. At it's head was Commodore C…

Flybe still causing Loganair issues, even after the former's demise. https://news.stv.tv/north/planes-collide-on-tarmac-at-aberdeen-airport?top Theories are that the Dash's brakes failed or it jumped the chocks during an engine run-up.

Related to my other thread here, what do you do to get started for a flight? Here's what I do: 1. Once I've decided where I'm going (see other thread), I choose if it's going to be a VR flight or not. Short flights are usually VR, longer I use TrackIR. This decides if I start oculus home or track IR software. 2. Then I start simbrief downloader and go to simbrief.com to generate a flight plan if needed. I make sure any IFR flightplans are exported in all the relevant formats. 3. I usually fly P3Dv5 at the moment, so I start ASP3D which auto launches ASCA in full dynamics mode. 4. I start P3Dv5. 5. While P3D is starting, I start RealTraffic…

Somewhere in another thread I saw a mention of flying under the Golden Gate Bridge. I was reminded of an episode back during the Viet Nam war. I had a really good friend (I'll call him John) who was flying A4A's off the Kitty Hawk. The ship was stationed in Alameda, California, then. Whenever the ship was returning to port the aircraft would fly to NAS Alameda (now closed) . Coming back from his second tour in 'Nam John decided he needed a "victory lap". And what could be better than flying under the Golden Gate Bridge. In fact, he liked it so much he circled back and did it again.....inverted. Needless to say the squadron CO was less than pleased. His next fitness repor…

Yesterday I finally got updated to a 1Gbs fiber optic connection. That's quite an increase from my previous 200Mbs copper wire (cable) connection... I had no interest in changing service providers until I learned that - like a cellphone number - I could KEEP my current email address! Now if I can just get the darn TV boxes to allow me to activate my AT&T TV service! 😞

This is an extremely interesting interview with former Concorde captain John Hutchinson. I’ve seen a couple of YT videos but this interview beats them all. Extremely entertaining! https://toplandinggear.podbean.com/e/top-landing-gear-full-flaps-john-hutchinson-concorde-pilot/?fbclid=IwAR1fqzckh-ez0-5dreCiTmrjR2ZFjxpHCeaNCpRcbkEjCC-tYYswhLvGm2A

Has anyone used this site to update the default navaids and airport ICAO / name in both FSX and P3D? https://aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html I was made aware of its existence after posting on the Aivlasoft forum. I had an airport conflict with Dhaka, Bangladesh. The airport ICAO and name in P3D is VGZR - Zia Intl but when I planned the flight in PFPX it couldn't find that ICAO and after a search I found it is now named VGHS - Hazrat Shahjalal Intl. Airport. ASP3Dv4 returns weather for both ICAOs with a note that the info is identical. The current ICAO is VGHS with a change of airport name. Presumably Gen Zia fell out of favour. This site allows the user to …
