A funny thing happened on the way to staying home all day, every day. I discovered I like it! I arise about 6:00AM and after morning ablutions get a cup of coffee and go into the living room where my wife has her cup of coffee and bowl of cereal. This is our 'talk' time. Usually she talks and I listen and nod my head. It satisfies her and I find I like it. It's our together time for about an hour and a half or so. Then it's time for me to make breakfast. Betty doesn't like a big breakfast like I do so I'm on my own here. Usually a half lemon squeezed into glass half full of vegetable juice, a fruit bowl made up of half an apple chopped up, a small orange…

Why can we remember the past but not the future? Way back when I was studying physics, one of the questions the profs always asked us to consider is why we can't remember the future. There is nothing in the laws of physics that prohibits it. After all, the arrow of time knows no direction . Over the years I've pondered this question more times than I can count. I've read everything there is to read and I'm still unsure of a conclusion. Am I the only one who'd like to know the real answer? Or cares?

I presume AH's Concorde (see other thread) would be a teensy bit more involving. However, I note that the first product in the Ctrl-Ezy range is the IA-58 Pucara. https://www.control-ezy.com/index.php I for one, don't mind the "lite" er side of aircraft. Let's face it, some GA aircraft are "lite" even with full system representation. However, back to the Fortress (not the B-17), the Pucara seems like it would be fun to tool around in even if the clickable switches in the VC may not do much. IMHO the Pucara looks to be not unattractive (the eye candy model seems to be spot on) and it does have 6 guns up the front end! When it wasn't a target for Sea Harrier…

  6. What is the flight sim hardware you have owned the longest that is still used today? For me it's CH Pro Pedals purchased in May 2002 along with the Yoke and Pro Throttle. All USB I no longer own the yoke and the Pro Throttle just gathers dust but the pedals have been remarkably durable over 18 years and counting. They've never needed any maintenance whatsoever. The other kit is GoFlight units. All purchased in October 2002 and still used today. Expensive but they have proved extremely durable. On the same credit card bill as the pedals was a GeForce Ti4600 graphics card. This had a massive 128Mb of memory and cost an eye-watering 350-400 GBP. That price doe…

  7. On 25th June, 260 out of 860 pilots at PIA were revealed as being suspected of having cheated in some way on some of their pilot licence exams, thus they do not have valid licences and the airline grounded over 150 pilots. In reaction, on 30th June EASA banned any Pakistani airline from entering EU airspace for 6 months, and several other countries grounded all Pakistani licenced pilots. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/30/eu-bans-pakistan-national-airline-flights-over-pilot-exam-cheats

Hello all, Wasnt sure where to put this, probably the appropriate section! I *thought* there was a restriction on using reverse thrust at London City, in that you aren't supposed to use it unless absolutely nessecary, to reduce noise. I can't find any reference to this though, and I've looked in the notes on the NATS site on the Aerodromes charts, but the noise restrictions just seem to be about taxiing on minimal power and APU use. Does anyone know of any reverse thrust restrictions? Trying to do my LCY operations in P3D as realistic as I can, like turning AP off for the glideslope, using the GPU all the time except for using the APU for engine start…

Curious how everyone else chooses to enjoy flight simming! Here's what I do: 1. I mostly want to fly in interesting weather, and usually in the US. I load up GOES17, GOES16, and wundermap and look for something cool to fly near, through, or around. 2. Then I decide if it's near a company I have set up in Air Hauler 2, whether I can use a route nearby, or if I just want to fly. 3. If there's a big weather feature, I will decide if I'm flying jets over it, or GA around it, or if I want to fly a real world commercial route that happens to be in the same region. 4. If nothing jumps out, I do my routine flights around New England or South Eastern US. …

I’ve had P3D for years, and loved it. I have a word not allowed-ton of addons from FSL through to full Orbx regions, but since V5 I’ve been lost. I think I’ve come to the conclusion that the platform has limitations that I can’t ignore anymore. For example, blurring textures outside of the LOD, I get thats by design, but it’s off putting, or random stuttering because of poorly optimised scenery, newly added eye candy, but it runs like a bag of word not allowed, or is half baked causing poor performance. But, that aside, the biggest kick in the word not allowed is the need to run the sim at 30fps/30hz with a 9900ks and a 2080ti just to stop the massive word not allowed flu…

Hi, I have a question. Can anyone tell me whether a reason no one is answering all of my AVSIM messages, including emails and forums is because they have the right to be annoyed and never answer the questions or discuss them because they are private? Thank you so much for your help. -Connor Richey

I didn't want to take over his post so I'll start here. I did the first leg with VOR/VFR no GPS and it was interesting. Two days ago I did a 5 hour VFR no GPS in TE Washington and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I have Orbx Global and Vector and real weather but I have to em.. use some common sense 🙂 I like the PA-31 cause it has a decent range and I can do 160 at 9000 it has a nice NAV1/2 combo with double DME and it tells me the winds, I put the map on TAS for traffic and use the Avidyne for TAWS only and disconnect LNM. I use TAWS it doesn't tell me where I am but if I were to wait for clear skies it would just take a long time. I…

  21. Hi all - I hope this is the right place to post - if not apologies in advance! Since COVID hit I agreed with my wife that to stay sane during the lockdown I would choose a new hobby or go back to an old one. I chose Flight Sim which I was once really into but haven't looked at for 10+ years. My only computer is a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 specced below: Processor - 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7 - 4 cores, 8 threads, 1.30 → 3.90 GHz, 8MB SmartCache, 15W Graphics - Intel Iris Plus Graphics - 64 Execution Units, 300 → 1100 MHz Memory - 16GB - 3733 MHz LPDDR4X RAM Storage - 1 TB - BGA PCIe SSD I already know th…

Hi I'm not sure if this subforum is the best for this kind of question, so, if admin consider, please move it to another one more suitable for it. My doubt is about the 14th stage bleed air of CRJ 200. I know most of the CRJ200 in the market don't simulate this system, but I'm curious about how to handle it. As far as I've discovered, this system supplies high pressure, from the engine compressors 14th stage, to other systems like anti-ice, cowl anti-ice and reversers and it seems operative mostly of the time. But, I haven't found when it is necessary to turn it on (or turn it off): Before the take off (for the reversers in case of reject the takeoff)? Mayb…

Some 25 years ago my wife and I journeyed up to Mud Island to see the Memphis Belle. There was a fellow there who gave a short lecture about the history and crew during WWII. Several times in the talk he referred to the Belle as a B-17G. Finally a little old lady in the front raised her hand and said "excuse me". She went on to say that the Belle was a model F, not a G. The lecturer assured her that he was an expert on the subject and knew that the Belle was a G. After a short pause the lady replied that she was sure it was an F. Why? Because she had over 4,000 hours flying them. She was a ferry pilot during WWII. That was the end of the lecture. I have a picture of the B…
