Hi, I’m not sure this is covered elsewhere but after searching for a while I couldn’t find anything. Re: MSI Afterburner and Rivertuner, after playing in settinigs I have tried to get the stats to show on my screen but I can only get the system time to show, no FPS, CPU, GPU etc. Can some kind sole point me in the right direction please.

I'm curious how departures and climb is managed at high altitude airports (ex. KTEX) with normally aspirated GA aircraft (Cessna 172, Bonanza G36). This is an area of flight simming that I'd like to become more proficient at but am struggling a bit practicing at Telluride. I'm leaning the mixture to reach peak EGT during my run up but am noticing that the climb is incredibly slow while maintaining Vx. Even a moderate day (59 degrees F, 30.14 "Hg, dew point 53) yields a density altitude of just over 11,000 feet. How do light aircraft navigate this terrain where minimum safe altitudes are 16,600' above sea level? That density altitude is over the service ceiling of most GA …

  5. Nothing much going on so tabloid media reports on a pilot removing some of his attire whilst on a flight. Say this in your best Valley Girl accent "Like OMG.. sooo disgusting..totally...eww.. He needs to be fired, like, right now!" https://www.express.co.uk/travel/articles/1324290/flights-pilot-removes-shoes-viral-video-instagram-funny-disgusting Big deal... the pilot removed his shoes and socks. Wait for it.. he works for Nordic SEAPLANES .. Plenty of sea or floatplane pilots go barefoot, especially in warmer climes... This young lady does... and I bet there would not have been half as many complaints or wannabee lynch mob comments https://www.…

The recent posts by Alan and Ray about Rolls-Royce engines reminded me of an event from long ago.. I was about to graduate from college and was interviewing for a job at United Airlines as a purchasing agent. There was a choice of two departments...air-frames and engines. I was told that there would be quite a bit of travel in either case as my office would be in San Francisco. Seattle for air-frames and Coventry for engines. Of course, I opted for engines. Then came the question that caused me to pass on both jobs. The guy doing the interview asked..."since the job requires travel to a foreign country I need to be sure you can speak the language" Plonk.............Doug…

  9. My friends and fellow flight simmers, Sometime in the last week or so someone posted about the potential for many new flight simmers to join our ranks here and on other flight sim websites. They also posted about their concern about our community's almost inherent need to eat it's young and bash anyone who sticks their head up, and how that might affect those seeking out our community due to their interest in flight sim/aviation. Well, I was in my surgeon's exam room when I was reading this post and all the replies, and he walked in and got to business and I just never had a change to respond to the post. I was shocked at how many people blasted the OP of the …

  10. Hi Folks, I was paroosing the AVSIM library looking at the various repaints for the Flight Replicas Super Cub when I came across a new GPS gauge just uploaded by a Hugo Jansen of Belgium. The blurb looked good so I downloaded it and installed into the Super Cub as a popup. It's a quite interesting package with a nice PDF manual describing how to add to a panel.cfg and what those panel.cfg entries mean. I installed into P3D v4.5, however going by the manual the gauge is xml so should be fine in FSX upwards, indeed there are many FSX references within the manual. It is a quite nice improvement with mouse dragging of the map, mouse wheel spinning of…

Any of you who are familiar with the history of Edwards Air Force Base or who read The Right Stuff or saw the movie are familiar with Pancho Barnes and her Happy Bottom Riding Club. Pancho Barnes was a very interesting and accomplished woman. I just started my second reading her biography by Lauren Kessler titled The Happy Bottom Riding Club. I read it years ago and was looking for something to read as I just finished re-reading Alas Babylon. I have always been an avid reader and in these days of staying home I have more time to read, I read a chapter or two of whatever I am currently reading at lunch and if no good old movies are on television I'll read anot…

In some older planes, eg. Dc-10, a climb gradient limitation is required in calculaction of take off and climbout performance. Question: is there a kind of default, minimum climb gradiet that should be assumed when charts does not specify one? It would be great if anyone knows this problem and can assist. Regards, Kris

  20. Lets take a sample widebody flight: leg1europe to caribbean airport one, then leg2 to caribbean airport two (100-150nm) and then leg3 return to europe. How and when the aircraft would be fueled for leg 2? Would it be just for leg2, resulting in extremly light TOGW and unnecessary overperformance or would it be pre-fueled for two legs? Which ones: 1-2 or 2-3? Anyone know the airlines’ practice? Obviously i understand it maybe aircraft type dependent. Regards, Kris

I sometimes see people mentioning speaker brands like Klipsch and Genelec that do home hi-fi or studio monitors when they talk about their simpits, so was wondering if any other Avsimmers also dip their toes into the expense and inconvenience of audiophilia? I have a Luxman amp, Denon CD player, Pioneer network player and ATC speakers (I’m in Japan so the electronics are a bit cheaper than they might be in the West, but had to retain some loyalty to British brands hence the speakers).

I hope people realise why I chose that topic title, given that there's an ongoing thread about post apocalyptic stories. Not being flippant or callous; just a segue if you will to an unfortunately very real disaster. The recent tragedy at the Port of Beirut was almost as if a nuclear bomb went off (2750 tons of ammonium nitrate!!)- the before and after satellite shots are sobering indeed, as is the footage of the explosion. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8594979/Beirut-blast-survivors-sift-rubble-bodies-death-toll-continues-rise.html I believe offers of humanitarian aid flights are being made from several countries - It appears that Beirut airport…

  25. This is a notice to all of you updating to BD2021! Few years back BD inserted the vault (DE: Tresor) function. So I bet that some of you (as myself also) actually use this function to protect some important files on your PC or even cloud. Guess what? The vault function is no longer supported with the new version of BD2021!. What that means is that after the update you will no longer have access to that encrypted file! In other words, BD actualy created the best ransomware ever! This is outragious. I'm about to loose some important financial files I used to protect with the vault function. There will be some consequences if BD team can't restore ac…
