Ok I know strange topic, but my wife and I have been out of the television buying circuit for like decades now (lol) and our livingroom television finally died today. We don't want to repair the old set and prefer to buy a new smart TV instead...so we have no idea where to even begin. Any recommendations as to picture quality, price, longevity (im guessing there is none these days)...buy online a bad idea?...We don't want something big...I dunno maybe 30 something or 40 something inch? What's good these days for middle of the road, not high end but not junk?

I just finished up my latest round playing in one of these simulators, and for those that have never seen a sim like these, they're pretty cool. They work us pretty hard in there, so it's definitely not fun and games, and we all still complain that they're still nothing like a real plane. 😉 This one is a Falcon sim, and has been around for a while. Its not the latest and greatest, but still pretty up to date. It's always impressive seeing the rows of these sims in the training centers, one school in Dallas I've been to many times has I think 20-30 something simulators. ...an external view junkie. It's probably largely due to the screen real-estate limitations, but I just feel claustrophobic in most cockpits (simwise, still a virgin in RL). I hope to overcome, and start doing some instrument flights, but oddly I seem to be much less gentle on the controls merely from changing to internal view... the last thing I need with far less sensory input is to have the ol' bird getting even more edgy on me. I guess I just need more practice; darn.

Curious. Personally I feel way more in control of all axis with a joystick. The way elevator and aileron is connected just seem more natural then for example pushing a yoke and trying to use aileron at the same time for a coordinated turn. Now I have more flight hours with joysticks. Yokes is more ergonomic though so I still fly them as the plains that have yokes dont require a lot of precision.

For all those who fly in the X-Plane platform, the 8X will set the bar for study level in the business jet category. If you have followed the development thread (well over a year now) over on the X-Plane Airplane Development Notices forum you will see the magnitude of detail going into this model with each step under Dassault guidance. I'm posting this here not to complain but to help other users here avoid a mistake I made in selling flightsim gear on the Classified Ads forum. Long story short, I sold a piece of hardware via AVSIM's Classified Ads forum, and a user here, Luigilizares77, bought it via a PayPal transaction. He requested through AVSIM's private message board that I send the item to a Delaware, USA address. The funds were transferred and I shipped the item to DE as he requested. Fast forward to a week later, and this user filed a PayPal claim against me, stating that he never received the item. I'm now potentially on the hook for the amount I sold the hardware for, and I've lost …

Been here long? Well fancy that! I just browsed through my additions to the library and discovered that I uploaded my first repaint fifteen years ago for FS2004. That was for the Long Island Classics Christen Eagle and I still have more hours and paints on that bird than any other single aircraft - somewhere around fifty to sixty different textures on both the LIC version and the later IRIS one. All in all I created at least five paints for each of the (at least) 120 models I had in my hanger - quite often I exceeded twenty on some of my more favourite planes. Not all were uploaded as some liveries were subject to copyrights and others just failed to please me. …

I've alluded to it in threads a couple times recently, but to bring it up explicitly: there seems to have been a lot of confusion recently regarding the rules around linking to external sites. My understanding of the policy had long been that it is not allowed to link directly to storefronts but other links are fine, with additional terms for commercial members. But there seem to be some folks who believe that no external links at all are allowed, and others who aren't sure what the rule is and are hesitant to contribute because of that.
