I read with amusement the 15 Oct 05 news release posted on the Avsim home page regarding the Captain Sim C-130 "now in the beta stages of development."Here's what has been posted on the Captain Sim site for some time now: (www.captainsim.com)>26 Aug '05: Beta Testing is Over!>We would like to thank all the Beta Team members for their help, >time and efforts. We have collected most of the reports and keep >doing our best to release the 'Legendary C-130' as soon as possible. >Stand by for the project progress reports! Will there come a point where Avsim will refuse to any longer play a part in these clowns' poorly-crafted web of misinformation?RegardsBob Sco…

Folks may be interested in reading the USAF Safety Center report released today in the Burlington(VT) Free Press about an F-16C crash last April.Pilot Col. Doug Fick lost the runway on a really crappy IFR night last April and clipped the approach lights, KBTV localizer antenna and some rabbit lights then skidded 6000 feet down the r/w.He was fine.Col. Fick has over 3300 hours in the seat with almost 22 hours in combat flight time. The story and a video of the a/c damage are here:http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/apps/pb...&theme=FSIXTEEN

On many sites I see they have a picture on the left side of the address of the site. It would be to the left of the " h "in th http: part of the address. Know what I mean? AVSIM should put the AVSIM vertical fin there.JimCYWG

I have used your site on numerous occassions to downoad files. Unfortunately, I sometime spend more time trying to install the download than I expected. Recently I downloaded what looked like a great 727 sim PS_72F_04.zip. Unfortunatly the gauges don't install and I get an FS error. This should not be a problem. AVSIM editors, instead of bragging about how many files you have on your site, how about spending some time to try the installation and see if it works. I suggest you guys check review and rate your downloads for ease of installation and whether they work before listing on your site. Also in your review note whether installations instructions are included an…

With the departure of PMDG from the AVSIM-hosted forums to their own PMDG support forums, there do not appear to be any archived threads on the superlative 737NG; indeed, it's almost as if the NG has become history with the arrival of the new PMDG Queen!Does AVSIM still have any archived threads on the NG series available? They were rich and filled with great information about flying the NG and I (and I suspect others) miss them very much. They contained a vast amount of good info, often not to be found or understood easily, or found at all, in any of the NG operating manuals. All the best to AVSIM for everything and especial good wishes for the upcoming San Diego annual…

Tom and Co., I just wanted to express my gratitude for AVSIM being an impartial and comprehensive clearinghouse of information about our hobby. There are a few sites that will keep information about addons if that company does not advertise on the site. I do not see any of that behavior when I visit your site several times a week. The moderators seem very fair and are quick to correct wrongs when they arrise. I think you are running an excellent operation here and it's always a pleasure clicking on the advert links to help pay the bills at this most excellent website. Thank you.

I just wanted to tell the whole AVSIM staff about their great work and effort. As a Flight Sim novice, I'm greatly impressed (and appreciative) of this website and it's helpful and useful information. Kudos for making this a reality - I'm sure all of you are proud!Best,Christian

Was reading some of the posts below about forums and the posting with in them and had an idea. Is it possible and/or feasable to have a self moderated forum? For example: Could a forum be setup to allow people to vote on a specific post or post reply they don't like for deletion? Say someone calls someone else a '@#$%'. If that posts gets, for example, 10 votes to delete it the post automatically is deleted.Has something of this nature been tried or thought of before?-=MAB=-

Hi!After recently discovering criticism of the tone of the AVSim forums and even an attempt to organise a boycott of AVSim, I decided to take a look at the FlightSim forums. What I discovered disturbs me.I believe a forum is a place where people can express and trade ideas and opinions. That includes opinions we don't agree with or even like. If all the opinions are similar and there is no criticism, the forum is diminished. Diversity adds vitality.I was horrified at how quickly the moderator (censor) stepped in at FlightSim. The result is a plodding dullness. I hope you have the courage to leave your forum policy pretty much as it is.regards,Alan.

Maybe I'm picking at words, but I read with interest the news blurb that describes the additional hardware being implemented at Avsim. Being a 15 year veteran IT professional myself, I understand that there are different server operating system choices available (e.g., Windows, Unix, Linux) and that businesses and individuals choose from among these every day when making IT purchases. What struck me as amusing was the reference that "Linux of course" had been chosen, with the seeming inference that any other choice would be silly or unusual. I just thought that the person who wrote that blurb should remember that Linux is used on a very small minority of servers overa…

Gentlemen, I consider the T-25 in today's list not to be a free aircraft (not when I have to purchase scenery to get it!) and as such feel that the article is misleading. You have a great site and a ton of truly free downloads but this isn't one of them.Steve:-(

Hi AVSIM Team,I request you to investigate if SWW still does there job. It seams the doesnt do any support anymore here. That would erase any reason to be displayed here as a SSW-forum. Since month they are not responding to any posts, that worries me.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=393&page=

Hi not sure if this is the right place to post but as you are probably aware there have been several posts expressing concern that the microsoft survey is not genuine and is some sort of scam. There is a thread running now on the fs2004 general forum headed"Important info from Microsoft Concerning the survey..."in which one participant has posted a reply from Microsoft stating they no nothing about the survey. I belive the survey is genuine and have replied on that thread, but I belive AVISIM may be able to assist to put these rumours to bed as I can see people deciding not to participate and we lose this opportunity to influence the ongoing design of the next generations…

FSnet sounds like it has the potential to really be a breakthrough addon for MSFS. I realize the current version is a public beta but it would be helpful to have someone provide a review. Just a suggestion! ThanksDavid

topic: a proposal of several points of consideration for inclusion into the next design document for the next version of the Microsoft Flight Simulator application. background: since the first Flight Simulator (that i was aware of) appeared on the Commodore64, i've been hooked... and i have wound up synchronizing my computer upgrades in conjunction with releases of new version of the Flight Sim, primarily to be able to fly the sim, all the while telling myself i needed it for work. i am also a private pilot and past USAF aircrew. preliminaries: "As Real As It Gets" - that sounds good, but... here's what i see as being missing... there are no preflight activities, there ar…
