Dear Tom'Why Can't I download files?'OK so that's a simple question which could have many answers but I have already looked at your DA post and spoken to one of your library managers who put me on to you - sorry.At this point let me say I'm using Star Downloader, its configured to only open 4 ports and works well with other sites.My specific problem with AVSIM is that no matter what settings I choose my browser always opens up to download a file from your library. Star Downloader doesn't get a look in.This wouldn't be a problem normally - there are lots of other Flight Sim sites that open a second page to advertise something or confirm a download agreement before a downl…

HiSeeing the amount of real aviation pics posted in the screenshot forum, Id say it would be great if the Avsim team could open up a new section for real world aviation photos. Just my 2 cents.. hope someone agrees :-)

I've been using AVSIM on and off for about 6 years. Then you guys fixed it so that if it you don't use it for while, you account is disabled. Fine. I can understand that. What I don't get is why you can't just re-enable it. Or why don't you just delete the account to we can re-register with our original names?Now-a-days, all the forums are moderated and I'm not sure what the criteria is for rejecting posts, but I just posted one about the BAe 146 freeware plane, saying how good I thought it was, and the post never appeared. Would it be possible to have a section for the GoFlight hardware gauges and panels? I just bought five systems on a 14" rack and its pretty impressive. But of course there's always complications. They work with the default 2004 aircraft but not third party great panels, like the PSS Aibuses and PMDG 737. So, a little help from creative people out there that can come up with work arounds would be greatly appreciated.Just a thought....

I notice that someone else came out with a modern Carrier, How about making a nice long hulled Essex class Carrier, like I served on, over sixty years ago? It helped win the last war that we won. Tom, Ken, and staff; I would like to offer my congratulations, sincere admiration, and overwhelming green envy to AVSIM for pulling off what appears to be an enormously successful (again) FlightSim Conference and social. I know it has yet to be fulfilled, but with all the planning and booking and (sob sob) participation going on I don't think this post is pre-mature. (Boo hoo hoo!!) I would just like to say how dissapointed I am the AVSIM in publishing the article concerning the release of Squakwin. To call it a Trojan Horse is completely over the top by the VATSIM gurus and I am suprised and as I said very disappointed that you jumped onto the VATSIM battle wagon. What ever happened to freedom of choice???.I presume those at VATSIM expect us to wait until 2006 before SB3 arrives while thier little empire crumbles under the weight of red tape.I would be nice if in the future you could stop and look at the whole picture before publishing such articles and helping VATSIM to maintain thier stranglehold over users.RegardsTony DeMonte

Having been here for so many years it just dawned on me (while reading C152 review) that you employ rather controversial ranking system when you review products. The controversial part is that someone who is a casual quick reader of this site may get skewed idea about quality of the product simply because two almost identical products may end up differing by more than a star only based on the sequence of their release.Consider Mr.A.B. making the very first C152 and getting 4.5. Then a year later Mr.C.D. makes another Cessan 152 but being just slightly inferior (say 4.3) to the first one it can't even be awarded 4 stars since it doesn't "exceed" current standard. It ends u…

Hi,Just read your Infomercial about the Links database. Is it correct that I only see less than 60 links in the database? On my personal site: direct link you can already find over 90 links related to flightsimulation.Just wanted to tease you a bit. I think there are more database that keep even more links.

We are truly blessed in our hobby by the overwhelming amount of add-ons that help us settle into our pilot chairs and simulate almost every aviation scenario we can think of.Every time I fly, I'm grateful that I have variety beyond the default aircraft and scenery to keep me from getting bored and wanting more.I have freeware, shareware, and pure payware added to my sims. I was recently advised by your library staff not to use Download Accelerator when accessing your file library, yet your "Why do I need to register" page includes the statement "..... while ensuring that download acceleration and resumption continues to work." I think it would be a wonderful idea if AVSIM opens up a 'Trivia' forum. My flight instructor throws out these little tidbits of knowledge that are best described as 'useless pieces of trivia but for some reason you are glad you know them'. ;)

Excellent poll, however, I would have added ATC as an option to the "what would you like to see improved in your favorite flightsim" question. I think that would collected quite a few votes. Also found out how mainstream I am. Was in the 'red' in all but 3 questions. John Fitzpatrick

I think that Avsim should set up a permanent poll for every payware release. The poll should be simple and allow people to enter a rating number between 1 and 10. With the number of people on these forums this would really add another resource to those wanting to know if a particular product is worth purchasing.Mark.

Just wanted to take a minute to thank the AVSIM staff, and all of those that contribute, for making the past 15 months in Iraq bearable. When we left home FS9 had not been released and most of the flight sim enthusiasts here (There are many) have had to rely on the news and forums at AVSIM to keep abreast. Due to security and bandwidth constraints we couldn't download from the library but we could access the forums. Now most of us can't wait to get home to try out FS9. This is a great hobby and your efforts have really been appreciated by all of us. Thanks again!:-jumpy
